NPC Approach

Please, for the love of god could we see some changes to NPC civillian pathing?

The constant praise for beating up named villains and stuff is great, but do they have to approach you and then shove you out of the way before moving on to the next best hero?

Perhaps there's a way that the player characters' could have a more solid gravity and can't be moved by NPCs? I don't know, but it's been an issue for a while.

    Or just kill this feature entirely. Nobody really needs it.

    Let NPC calling us, but not approach or chase us.

    NPCs of CO are sure Critical Annoyance!

    They keep saying the same stuff for Qullar Invasion and Pushing you everywhere!
    EVERYWHERE :biggrin:

    I got pushed by NPCs while selling stuff on Toy Master and ventors and the worst

    EVEN while I am in tailor! I found my character out of the Tailor Hut :eek:
    POWERFRAME REVAMPS, NEW POWERS and BUG FIXES > Recycled Content and Events and even costumes at this point Introvert guy who use CO to make his characters playable and get experimental with Viable FF Theme builds! Running out of Unique FF builds due to the lack of updates and synergies! Playing since 1 February 2011 128 + Characters (21 ATs, 107 FFs) ALTitis for Life!

    The random npcs and vehicles need to have their collision physics removed so they don't harass players and that traffic jams don't happen anymore.

    the entire game needs a new physics system and a new AI. Yes this is a problem and I hate it, but so is the rest of the game.

    TL;DR Get in line.

    Why can't we just punch the civilian out? I mean, sure, we are heroes, but that doesn't mean we are obligated to be nice to the population.

    Ah, the Good Old Times when arc from electricity could jump to a civilian and fry them.

    It's not just npcs, it's players as well. I know a few of you have been trolled by someone spamming teleport pushing you away from the tailor or during a RP in Caprice. I for one want this fixed in the near future.

    While we are at it, fire Mack in Caprice. He is doing a terrible job as a waiter by walking over the couches with his dirty feet and pushing the customers off their seats.

    Each time those NPCS push me away from the bank or AH I want to ram a rabid flaming hippo up thar arsehole then beat their fictional parents to death with a can pf Pringles U_U

    How about that one chair in Ren Center that butts into your targeting even theres no chairs near you and you're facing a building wall.

    You may like it, but in practical terms it's not very functional and only causes problems. Also, more people don't like it.

    I would say that more people don't like than like it. The forum is one only percentage of players. People are more likely to complain than compliment. Remember it's the law of the internet. And some people that like it or don't like it never say either way. And of course people always say "most people feel this and this" when they are in that said group and "Oh those are only a few people" when they are outside that group. Their view=majority view.

    But I don't like it and rather be ghost than put up with those pesky civilians all the time. They at least should tone it down. Make it sparinglyly. Or at least make it where I can blast them into next week. "But then they wont view you as a hero and run up to you with praise." that is the exact point. I figure I blast a couple into next week, they wont be likely to do it anymore. I'd just blame it on PTSD from fighting the villains.

    At least make possible for players to attack and kill civilians. I don't care about "immersion". I want to get rid of any NPC annoyig me that way. They're worse than hostile mobs.


    If it will end with having to kill every civilian in sight, then so be it.

    What I would suggest is add an option to the game where you can turn on and off the feature where citizens run up to your hero.

    It may be cool if you could like 'turn on alter ego' and suddenly citizens wont recognize you as the great hero they are so crazy about. :)

    You know, having an alter ego toggle is perhaps one of the better ideas I've heard in along time, genre savvy too.

    Of course in a perfect world said toggle would change your costume into a new "secret identity" slot and disable your auras, and any time you use any of your powers the toggle switches off and you revert back to the last "hero" costume slot you were wearing.



    However, since I have no hope for any of that to actually happen, simply allowing people to turn the feature on or off as they wish would make everyone happy, I happen to like the fact that my character's heroics are noticed and remembered by the population at large...

    Too bad they can't apply this to the real world, hehehe...that would have elimated the traffic jam "study" on the George Washington Bridge.

    I dislike how we get shoved around, in places like the tailor we have a range where if we are bumped too far away we can't save an outfit we are working on, and have no way of knowing that we are out of range until we leave the tailor. I don't mind being solid, but I'd rather have NPCs not approach so closely, sure they can recognize players and all that, but it breaks immersion when you are fighting and citizens block your lunges and moves when you are trying to "save" them :P

    Summon
    • Circle of Arcane Power
    • Circle of Ebon Wrath
    • Circle of Radiant Glory
    • Circle of Primal Dominion

    also works with:
    • Sigils of Arcane Runes
    • Sigils of Ebon Weakness
    • Sigils of the Primal Storm
    • Sigils of Radiant Sanctuary
    But Circles are better and permanent as long as you stand on them

    See them Panicking and running like Idiots!

    But again we are talking about the NPCs who let themself get Devoured by Zombies during Bloodmoon!
    And the NPCs who cheer for us when we cause bandalism by breaking Chairs

    Have I mention how Dumb our NPCs are and How much I despite them?

    And yet I'm sure at least twenty times a day they talk about how great of a role model they think you are... probably five minutes after you got done terrorizing them with your magic and blowing up the RenCen dining area.

    I have no Sympathy for NPCs with A.I and Pathfinding like that

    Especially after all those annoying, unpleasant push they had been giving me the past 3 years and the annoying Help a Citizen Mission which for no reason whatsover are ALL FOR WESTSIDE!

    Citizen approach me in RenCen? The mission is at Westside
    Citizen approach me in City Center? The mission is at Westside
    Citizen approach me in Downtown? The mission is at Westside
    Citizen approach me in Vibora Bay Queen City instance? The mission is at Westside ??? I LOST IT WHEN THIS HAPPENed! yeah apparently the NPCs in the Queen City missiona arc, gives missions for WESTSIDE in Millenium City

    and again, they push you while you are in Tailor
