Make Champions Worth Playing Again

This game USED to be fun. For the longest time, it was all I ever played - from beta up through the years. I was constantly lauding Champions, trying to convince friends & coworkers to check it out, give it a try, come team up.... Then PW took over and things began to fall apart. My lifetime subscription used to be WORTH something. Hell, I paid enough for it! Now you don't get to try any new features unless you spend so much money you may as well go out and buy an entirely new game.

First, the hideouts. Okay. Kinda cool, but not really worth the money to get more than one. At least it's an unlock though - you buy a hideout and all characters have access.
Then, vehicles are finally introduced... but they're insanely expensive devices rather than unlocks. Forget about it. I haven't bought one. I won't buy one. Not unless they're turned into unlocks so that, if I buy one, all characters have access.
And now auras. Also not an unlock. About as expensive as a costume set - okay, cool. But they're also devices - not unlocks. At least they're transferable, but if I have two characters who I want to have the Krackle aura, I have to either buy two sets of it or go pull myself away from the game in order to load up the hideout, drop the auras in my shared bank, change characters, load up the hideout, pick up the auras, leave the hideout, apply the auras.... Not worth it. What's more, you can only unlock aura slots PER CHARACTER. Again, not interested. Not when I have over 40 characters.

I've been finding increasingly less reason to return to the game, and my periods of absence are growing ever longer. One of these days, I'll probably reinstall my OS and just not bother reinstalling Champions. But until that day, I'll keep checking every few months to see if someone's wised up and set things right around here. (Yeah, right. But still. Here's hoping.) Good luck everyone.

You can share vehicles across alts, but they can't hold them at the same time. Drop them in the shared bank, and you can have any character you like piloting them.

I tried to find what suggestion it is that you're making here.... but I just can't find it. You didn't actually make a suggestion, you just complained that you have to pay for everything... when that's actually not true. I have all the things you talked about and I didn't spend any money on them.

If you're not willing to play the game to get these things... then maybe it's time for you to move on.

    A few things:

    - Your lifetime subscription was about as expensive as 2 years of subscribing. Since you have been around for a long time I would say you are making quite a bit of profit. Also you have access to the gold perks for life. And you get quite a lot as a gold member compared to silver.

    - New features cost money, surprise! What did you expect? That cryptic starts begging to finance their game? Selling stuff in a cash shop is the free to play business model.

    - You get free zen each month. What are you spending them on? You could easily get a vehicle or an aura with them.

    - As spinny mentioned, you can also earn stuff ig. Trade your questionite in zen or use globals to trade with others. If you play the game for that long you should have no trouble to get a few things you like.

    - Also concerning auras: even if you do not want to buy one, with the visuals gone it allows for plenty of new concepts. Not to mention that you even get one legacy aura free. That means even without spending anything you gained a little more customization.

That all said I think you have more a problem with the free to play model than with the game. And since subscriptions did not work you won't have much luck there. But you can hope for new content, who knows. Maybe we will get even a new zone at some point.

My stomach is clear and my mind is full of bacon!

Well what is worth it to one is total rip off for another. Some people think $50,000 especially when they don't have, $50,000 is too much to spend for a car, while to the person that have it is well worth it and sometimes to the person trying to get there so they can buy it. Some people think a pinto is enough. Good on gas, and it's exiting to know that you may explode into a fireball at the tap of the rear bumper. To others, they rather pay 100-thousands times more and get comfort, safety,
features they like, real wood, and real leather, and certain gadgets, and features, and a smooth quiet ride, with a bit of power and without being surrounded by a bunch of plastic, While to others, some may want more than a pinto but don't mind being surrounded by a a bunch of cheap plastic and bunch of wind noise and tire noise as long as they get to point A to B> Back pains are part of the fun to them from the uncomfortable seats. While others think cars period are total rip off and is fine riding the buss taking hours to get to where they are going and dealing with the strange people there and bus schedule curfew.

Well sometimes all you can do is make suggestions to what would keep you around and hope someone at least look at it. Other than that, I would never personally play anything I f eel wasn't worth it. Maybe keep an eye on it to see if they add something or fix something that catch my eye. But wont put a single cent on it if it isn't worth it even if that cent was simply going to the trash bin anyways.

ANd I never pay lifetime unless it's a sure sure thing but in MMOs nothing is ever a sure thing. With one issue they can in theory make it be oh yeah this game is fun to next reelease and change, "this game is meh." to the next release, "Dang I'm bored." With a lifetime sub, ya out of your money unless ya spent at least about 1.75 years here. Over 2 years, the money and value of lifetime sub have came and broke even or in many cases more than broke even and one can come and go without losing anything. And sometimes that is what a person have to do. Sometimes leave for a bit, until better times.

You don't like it, don't play it. You offered no other options or ideas on how to changes things so obviously you just want attention by crying. You come off as a spoiled little brat.

This game needs money to continue on, at least they are giving us quality stuff to purchase.

11:30AM on a Saturday morning. 275 players in MC.

    811 New Champions Supergroups * 498 new accounts = 403,878 players since January 2012.

    Game's doing great!

    Let's compare games!
Lego Marvel 1,800 players on steam right now.
Marvel Heroes 3,200 players on steam righ tnow
DCUO oh well less than 1779 players so they aren't on the top 100.
Well Batman Arkham City, 2,400 players and Batman Arkham Origins 4076.

Yep Champions is totally staying relevant in the super hero game market.

You have lifetime and probably have had it for a very long time, I'm pretty sure that in comparison to me you have payed considerably less unless you have been paying for lots of zen.

Hideouts: I don't know about you but I got one for free. o.o

Vehicles: They are in fact bound to account and not to character. You can also buy them with G from players and if you were around at the lemurian event then you could have got one from a drop.

Auras: So you mean you wanted them added for content from boss's, I suppose it could work but I don't see how they would make any money from it and so it wouldn't really be viable in business terms. This would mean we would see much less auras meaning less choice, also you would actually not be able to get them right away meaning you wouldn't be able to be the character you want to be. I wouldn't really call them 'devices' they are transferable if you buy the zen ones. The aura slots thing has been called 'a bug' so I hear, they were apparently suppose to be for the account and not just per toon.

Vehicles? I have a Lemurian tank from the event, and I have a Fire Ant and a Hawkwing Interceptor that were both given to me because people were nice. I have a longstanding policy of never buying Cosmic Keys, so I don't open lockboxes; I haven't spent any money on vehicles at all, and I like it that way.

(It's not like they're all that useful anyway. I used the Lemurian Tank in a couple of events, but other than that they're just a way for toons that don't fly to get around quickly - the Hawkwing has only fired its weapons to clear a hot LZ in Canada once, and to fight the Bleak Harbinger in the Lemurian event a couple of times.)

If you want a specific vehicle guaranteed, then yes you're going to spend money. Were you under the impression that Cryptic has no expenses to meet? That the servers and electricity were donated, and the developers were doing all this as a hobby?

And at least the vehicles have a hypothetical value in combat. In WoW, they sell (or sold - haven't played since shortly after the Cataclysm) a mount for $25 US. You can't even use it until you hit 20th level; its sole benefits are that it sparkles, and that when you hit the level to ride a flying mount, it then flies. (It doesn't fly before that.) You can't fight from it, or use it to run down your opponents, or anything that makes it more useful than the mounts you can buy for in-game gold - it sparkles, and that's about it. And there's no way to buy a sparkle pony for anything but real money, and there's no such thing as a "stipend" there. Compared to that, CO's model is ridiculously generous.
