Perfect World Entertainment, the mega-publisher behind games like Neverwinter, Torchlight II, RaiderZ, and Star Trek Online, has just announced that it is launching a new in-house division dedicated to console development. According to general manager of publishing Andrew Brown, investing in console development offers Perfect World a way to "better connect with players."
The console division will be dedicated to bringing new and existing PWE titles to consoles. Brown seemed optimistic about expanding into the console world, explaining, "You can expect Perfect World to be a major player in the console marketplace." No specific games were named for release.

I wonder if Champs will finally be coming to consoles as was originally planned?

Pop up dialogs, I'm looking at you.
I'm not a console gamer, and probably never will be. However, more exposure means more players, and that means more revenue and development for the game. So for that reason alone I hope this happens.
(Well, That depends on which platforms it comes to...)

Display normal Internet behavior. Come and make fun (yes, make fun) of my PRIMUS page.
Why not? If they're strictly console players, then Champs will be new to them. They'll hear about all the different powersets, extensive costumes, freeform building... what would they not like about it?
Further, why would they have to choose one over the other? Play both games for different experiences.
Plenty of people I play DCUO on PS with often say they wish they could play CO on their PS.
Nepht and Dr Deflecto on primus
They all thought I was out of the game....But I'm holding all the lockboxes now..
I'll......FOAM FINGER YOUR BACK!
So, nope.
Like Microsoft is going to pick up and old and once denied game again...
And it's not like we can transfer all the stuff in the PS3/4-XBOX360/1 anyway.
So IF CO goes to consoles thats a last nail to Pc COs and it's develoment.
Most likely of Cryptic games to be in the consoles is NW. Since it plays and looks like a console game.
Or the 'Secret Project'.

I actually prefer the simplicity of Defender's older design to what he has now. Am I alone in thinking this?

It was planned to be, but never reached that fruition. There's even xbox360 preset graphics settings in DemoRecord, as well as a very basic radial combat menu system implemented for 360 controllers. Shouldn't even have to mention the game's compatibility with the 360 controller as well.
Big reason it never reached that point is pretty much the same reason nothing else major has really happened with this game so far: Atari didn't think it was worth it and the team basically cut most of their development on the 360 port.
It basically comes down to whether PWE will be willing to put in the effort for the port at this point - ideally it actually wouldn't be too difficult, considering how much is already in place. Problem is deciphering what the old, now long gone devs have done, as well as PWE providing catalyzing support.
the stupid restrictions on costume creation on silvers.
the FF which you have to sub or pay $50 for
the small list of free powersets
how do we do PvP? well the queue is broken and theres no rewards but you can duel
they'll complain. too many think F2P means all for free
Theres been talk on NW and STO forums about going to consoles.
No mention here. well apart from this

If they have to take care of 2 versions of the game then we will loose quality...
it like your cutting the hair of 2 people at the same time...
focus on champs how it is actually...
i also do not think tha SO MANY people have console.. i do have a portal one but i like playing games like champs on PC.
We are already paying for gold on the 360 and we have to pay extra $15 for gold subscription in CO
It might work, but maybe not in a sense of double tapping subscriptions. At one point it thought unheard of and "no way" that one would pay subscription for anything on a console. Now it's almost normality to pay subscription for features on console.
With consoles having subscription features, internet connection and network, it's only a matter of time before an MMO hits console. It might require a change to the classical PC MMO subscription model.
In the future it might end up people can play online through console in the same interaction network with people that play through PC.
Now how that would work for classical MMOs like CO and those that came prior, I'm not sure since their sub and finance schematics probably wasn't set up for console in the likes of console subscription based games. Although I would imagine that it would be more like pay for the box or download for the console and then pay the console subscription to access the online game.

i was under the impression that for phantasy star universe, you had o buy a "hunters license" which was essentially a subscription, on console as well, am i incorrect in this? I played on pc.
So all this time they've been saving all the resources, while tweaking the game engine for the console release of Champions Online.
Yea, right.
Oh, i read on the paper couple of days ago about flying pigs. And some guy had monkeys flying out of his butt.
