Alternately, add an advantage that both lowers the energy cost and decreases the damage to bring both in line with similar charged cylinder powers such as Gigabolt in Electricity or Typhoon in Wind. Or, give it something like Gigabolt's thing where it still does huge damage but you can only charge it once every 8-10 seconds in exchange for not costing more energy than most characters have.
Edit: Also, for a form that scales off endurance? A defensive form, +resist or minor heal over time or similar with a chance to proc on hit. Possibly both, but lower values with a (minor) chance to actually proc both off the same attack. Scales off constitution or endurance, whichever is higher.
Force Cascade's only issue if anything is energy form cancel.
If your passive is KM/Stormbringer/Seraphim/Earth Form etc it will consume it. The whole idea behind this "titanic blast of energy" is to be just that, TITANIC, so it would drain a person.
Personally, if Force Cascade's interaction with things needs to be changed, it would be energy form cancel with KM should not exist (if we were to give a benefit to KM as a force passive and perhaps adjust the damage output KM grants to compensate so it isn't OP.)
END isn't needed to utilize Force Cascade at all.
As a primary END is worth using IMO, namely:
- Readiness Spec
- Hardened Spec
- Power Overwhelming Spec
As an actual stat with innate bonuses, something could be added or invented to make it more appealing though.
I suggested that IDF be turned into an actual defensive form power which would benefit all on a team, scaling off Primary Super Stat (or all SS).
However until things in CO change, I cannot see a true defensive form being created, since there is hardly a real need for one at this point in time.
I'm not sure if I agree with Original Post... I don't think I understand the question...
Sadly I'm not a number's person so I have no Idea how things work in game,
but it would make sense to me that some powers are low cost, low boom
others are high cost big BOOM
some have cool downs some don't.
are you suggesting we homogenize the powers so that Gigabolt and Force Cascade, et al. are all the same with the only difference being damage type...?
not sure I agree with that, I mean choice is good right?
- It eats energy forms, which is not really a desirable effect. I don't think the cost reduction is worth loosing your energy form most of the time.
- The high cost makes it rather hard (not impossible, mind you) to use while leveling since you probably won't invest in cost reduction gear before max lvl.
That end is rather unattractive stat is not really helping the matter either. But I am unsure how to change that without turning it into a gigabolt clone.
Maybe instead of consuming the energy form it could apply some sort of debuff for a short time.
Or give it an advantage that lowers the cost but adds a cooldown.
It only increases your max energy. For a perfect energy management over a prolonged fight you want your incoming energy equal or greater your outgoing energy. Your max energy only needs to be big enough to fully charge something, if you have a charge power. Of course it also gives you more time for random effects to happen, like a crit that returns energy with an energy unlock.
If I use 10 energy per sec and gain 11 I will never run out of energy, no matter if my cap is 100 or 400. If I use 15 energy per sec and gain 11 I will run out eventually. A large cap will give me more time but if the fight is long enough I will run out.
So int has kind of the best effect for power management and gives you cooldown reduction and stealth sight as well.
Now after all that said end does have a place in some builds. And you always have to consider what your powers actually scale with. But compared to int I find it rather lacking.
nerf force cascade's damage a bit. but reduce the energy cost drastically. its an epic looking power which should be easier to use.
How about no. If the energy cost got lowered then I could ROFLCade all day. It's fine how it is. I don't need End and I pull off full charges just fine.

when used as a primary it does so much more
it works as rec with a spec and it works as a lesser con with a spec.
end mastery means you will never have a power shortage ever.
end as a secondary is only great with INT as primary
the only stat that is worthless IMO as a primary is REC
if you think END as a primary sucks you arent doing it right.
With Rec primary, Avenger spec tree and Ego Surge w/ Nimble Mind I have a character that pushes past 90% crit chance at the start of a fight, has no need for an energy unlock, has a pseudo-END effect due to a spec selection in Rec tree, and cooldown redux from secondary stats (secondary being Con/Ego on this character). Also, Rec Mastery gives +10 to all three superstats. That's worthless?

seems good, showing i wasnt using it right, still prefer END over REC in that case. how would that build work if you flipped ego with rec for superstat, since ego has the same spec that makes rec end like?
That extreme energy cost and damage is the key defining characteristic of FC. Without it it'll just be another attack for any character type to use.
Yes, the energy cost is prohibitively high, but it's that way by design. You can pump out huge amounts of damage with it, but you need to sacrifice survivability to do that. In other words, it's moves like FC that justify the existence of END and REC as stats. Or superstats for that matter.
I completely agree that removing some aspect of the energy form cancel is needed, if only to make it compatible with its own passive.
FC has garbage damage per energy per second. In fact, the entire elemental section has higher energy costs for the damage they do compared to every other section. Why should FC cost far more than other powers that do similar damage?
I strta getting Cost reduction at about 15-20. I don't bother with CD
b y the time I have my form and energy unlock, I have no problems maintaining energy
if we're going to buff/nerf things
how about a small increase in Whirlwinds cost for a Major increase in damage Just kidding

As I said, end has its place in some builds. I personally still find that int offers more in most cases.
FC spam does take some effort to build for, but it is doable. I've managed to use FC tap-spam as an energy builder (at the cost of some damage due to gear requirements).

On a character built to use Force Cascade I don't think that 20k (crit) or 10k damage for ~140 energy isn't all that bad. Toss in an AO like Ego Surge and you're looking at slightly higher damage for about 65 energy max. Even better is when you fire a fully charged, Ego Surged Cascade and the energy spent is immediately returned by Concentration, allowing you to fire another fully charged Cascade again.

FC costs a hell of a lot more than other powers that do the same or more dps.
Which is what I mentioned. In the post you quoted. And being able to build for FC doesn't change that it has terrible damage for the energy it uses compared to other high dps powers.

That's because Force Cascade isn't a DPS power. It's a burst power. You don't need good energy management when you're one shotting half the NPCs in the group with the first attack, and sending the ones that do survive flying off into the distance, buying you enough time to fill your energy bar three times over before they're even a threat again... or you could use that time to finish off the remains of the group with a lower cost power; after all, nothing says you only have to use Force Cascade as your only attack

My favorite part about this thread is that nobody cared about the supposed nerf in the OP and instead immediately started pointing out why the massive buff to the cost was not needed uwu
Pretty sure FC isn't the only charge power that does a ton of damage to multiple enemies. Pretty sure it's possible to calculate dps on a burst power. It just happens to be far more expensive than those that can do the same or more damage. Just about everything in the elemental section is an energy hog. It's also the section that never gets any attention.
Newer powers and powers that get looked at are all far more energy efficient and do plenty of damage.
Of course you can calculate the DPS of a burst attack whose primary utility is not damage over time, just as you can calculate the DPS of Seraphim with advantage. Doing so gives no real measure of the power's performance.
Plus, effective energy management building means that energy cost is a difficult way to measure a power's balance.
If power A can be spammed without significant concern while power B, which costs five times as much energy as A, can still be readily spammed without significant concern...its a tough sell to claim that the energy cost difference is a measure of balance between the two.
Newer powers and powers that get looked at are all far more energy efficient and do plenty of damage.
Like which ones?
Side question: If the cost of FC were lowered to make it easily spammable by anyone... how would you then justify taking any of those other attacks that now look like complete garbage by comparison? Lower their cost to 0?
Wait, wait. So the ONE THING that gradii thinks needs a nerf is force cascade? 0.o lul wut
Except... he really didn't ask for it to be nerfed... he actually asked for it to be buffed, but tried to call it a nerf. I don't think gradii actually knows what a nerf is meant to accomplish...
lol I think it should be rebalanced not nerfed overall. energy cost should be lower and so should the damage. so it ends up the same dps, since you can use it more.
cool with the eyebeams how'd you do that?
Sooo.....you want Force Cascade turned into Typhoon? Uh...no. I like Cascade as it is.

you want the damage dropped a BIT but the cost dropped DRASTICALLY.
how about dropping the damage by the same percentage of damage as dropping the cost as a percentage of cost.

close,
they asked for a bit of a drop in damage plus a drastic reduction in energy cost. This is a buff, since one far outweighs the other.
