  I must admit, that would cool...
  
  There are a bunch of Auras, so no one can easily Pokemon out and gettem all. But, say, I get a Crackle Aura - Head to drop. I like it and decide that having it for the hands to match would be perfect. Odds are low that I'll get the matching Aura to drop in any reasonable time, so I need to get it another way. And help drive the game economy while I'm at it...
  
  However, remember this is Cryptic. The drop rate would be so low that it would create yet another Forum Rage topic...

  I suspect auras being added to mission dailies, lairs, or custom alerts. Though as for Open Missions, they just need to readd the purple devices they dropped.

  If there were going to be auras earned other ways I would say duplicate auras as in you can get it either by free token, questionite or that other way.
  
  That other way could be something like Recognition Tokens.
  
  Might sound confusing but it's like saying you can get Fiery Aura either by the questionite aura vendor or by X UNITY or Silver Champion tokens.
