Exray's Art...sort of

After being blown away by the ones I keep seeing I'm now gearing myself up to make a Primus page and I wanted some art to go with it. Unfortunately I can't draw to save my life and can't afford a commision cos being a student all my money goes towards cheese-on-toast.

However I've been messing about with screenshots in photoshop to try and make some 'psuedo-art', its something I'm still getting the hang of and lacks the awesomeness action poses of a drawings but I rather like how they're turning out.

    Fantastic.
This should be the character select UI with screenshots for each character in their last fight.

These are cool. The one with him looking at all the screens is excellent.

Primus-Database is now sadly gone indefinitely and I never got to take the WIP sign down off my page. But I thought I'd share some more of the images I made of Exray for it, enjoy!

Well after a bit of a hiatus I finally got round to completing my Primus page and decided to celebrate by making another artwork, the effect isn't as good as I was shooting for but its still kinda neat:

Weird it wouldn't let me fix my post. I really like your "pseudo-art" so far and thought your Primus page was pretty cool. I doodle while at work so I apologize if the lines are a little squirrely.

While Ex is a bit dark, I do like the idea you have going there.

Holiday Freebie, I hope you get a kick out of this surprise picture.

Wow! Just...wow!!! Thank you so much man its awesome and unexpected, "doodles" does not do that justice. I'm just nerding out, it's so neat having a art piece of your character. This is going straight onto the Primus, if you wouldn't mind I'd also like to try my hand at coloring it, skill I've been wanting to work on and what an opportunity!

Thanks again, the pose is perfect too, we don't have Thanksgiving in the UK but my birthdays coming up soon so I'm marking it under that

Still working on it and haven't started a background or anything yet, think this is something I'll keep coming back to as I learn more, but I like how its turned out so far so I thought I'd post up what I've done.

Any tips from colourists would be welcome, textures are a tough to get the hang of and I lose all detail if I shrink the image

DiplomacyMan, these are cool, I'm happy for you. I'm on the same boat, kinda, gearing myself for a Primus page and mostly learning as I go with a different style I have tasked myself with. You have the skill set, creativity and potential, it's always great to watch that, any, evolution. And also just your initiative, your willingness, proactiveness towards this. Something tells me you're gonna do very well.:) The piece above is shaping up awesome.

My advice to you would be, keep attacking it. Just keep going at it until you feel that you've "conquered the beast", so to speak. That you've learned or achieved something, anything, and take that with you moving forward. Try the unexpected, get loads of references, look at beautiful stuff and let yourself be inspired. The more pieces you do, the better they get. By the end not only you'll get the cool drawing, but it's a good feeling, too, just on a personal level.

AgentCanada, haven't met but I like you already. That's the spirit! Especially at this time of the year, makes me happy seeing things like this. Good on both you guys.:)

PS: DiplomacyMan, Happy BIRFFday to you!!! *<

(And HAPPY HOLIDAYS everyone, if I don't see you till then or sometime after, it's been crazy around here, end of the year and all, traveling plans ahead; all my best wishes to each of you.)

I'm not a colourist or even much of a digital artist myself, but I think that looks pretty awesome. I like doing pen&ink drawings but love seeing what colours bring to the piece.

Thanks for the nice comments, spordelia
