Why not make a fan made CO ad? if they won't do it WE WILL! it could make more people aware of this amazing gem of a game, and bring in more players which is good for the lifespan of the game, and therefore good for us.
I myself do not have access to very good recording and editing tools but if someone else would like to take on this project please do so!
some things I'd like to see in a fan made CO advertisement:
1. overview of our amazing character appearence options which put other MMOs to shame 2. some footage of an epic boss fight, preferably on elite mode with a fun dynamic team. Therakiel would work for this, even gravitar. 3. showcase some of the more interesting Archetypes and powersets, as well as what can be done with Freeform.
feel free to add more to the list, go wild! maybe if we made the ad good enough, PWI would invest in actual advertisement themselves

Both are free and both work well. I've only just started to play with each, so no videos to show off. Also, part of the problem is that people who make CO videos don't tag them properly if at all. No one's going to find you video if it's not tagged.
Edit: Better search would be for "super heroes" or something not "Champions online". Can't search for what you don't know exists.

The biggest problem here. People who aren't playing CO aren't going to find their way to the ad.
If you want to advertise for CO, you would actually have to get the ad somewhere where people are going to notice it, and that's likely to take some money.
I'll check out those programs, but I hope they are user friendly. I'm not a tech dummy but I hate having to read long manuals when I don't have to
Uh.....
Afterburner is fine once you set it up. It's actually for overclocking, but you can ignore all of that. It's the only one I've tried that has good quality videos and has minimal to no impact on game performance. You might have some slowdown in the video in the first 30 seconds or so, but I've recorded for almost an hour with video being good.
Blender is complex, but allows you to do far more than something like Windows Movie Maker. It's actually 3D animation software. I guess you could use Windows Movie Maker (assuming you have windows), but I can't imagine cutting and moving multiple tracks around is going to be anything other than a huge pain in the ****. Or if you want multiple audio tracks.
Audacity is also good for doing sound and free. If you want to have a separate audio track for comments or voice overs you want to do, this a good thing to have. It also does audio editing, but you can do that in Blender as well.
If you're recording in CO, use Demo Record first, edit everything the way you want it, then capture the video.
I still think you guys would have the most outreach if the most regular players here actually streamed on a regular basis. Fancy graphics aren't going to bring people into the fold here, but a strong sense of a fun community and shameless activity will.
Put simply, people like to have fun, especially if they see someone else having fun first.
The human connection in these online games will always be stronger than the digital connection a new or re-hashed player will have with a character.

Who said anything about fancy graphics? I'm just going to make terrible videos. Demo Record is so that my terrible video has good camera angles.
There are a few people who upload regularly, just not that many. Actually, I only know of one person off hand.
I'm not sure anyone would be interested in watching me run around with ATs. It might be funny (or sad) to take my Blade into Gravitar for a death montage. Or to watch me hide behind a lamp post. Other than the video I'm currently creating, I really have no ideas on what else to do at the moment.

Inevitably you'll want a combination of serious action content vids as well as humorous things that just happen.
I'd been plying for a while when I stumble onto this. The real fun begins around 12:00 even.
100 heroes doing Jumping Jacks in a fountain after taking down Mega-D. It's silly and spontaneous. It's also the kind of thing that can only happen after some sort of big event, like just before F2P went live. If we can find similar vids of OM Events, like Blood Moon or Attack of the Misfit Toys.
In fact, how about we ask players to re-create this old vid...
...but with their heroes as "The Heroes." Could also get a head start by creating a new Action Packed vid for the Finkle Foundry mission.
Edit - I was just checking on something and I happen to notice that it's been a more than a year since anything new has been added to the Media pages. Wallpapers, Screenshots and Videos last updated 2012 in early November.

My super cool CC build and how to use it.
That's why tagging is important. So when people search for "super hero" or "super mmo" or whatever, CO shows up. Preferably at the very top.

But anyways yes, more Champions Online movies are needed!
Consolidate the currencies! (Please!)
Does your Champion have a theme song? (share it!)
Got a funny in-game screenshot? (share it!)
Please fix the Overdrive energy unlock! (Should help promote thematic build diversity!)
