What will happen to CO on steam after Arc?

Just wondering... what'll happen to CO for the steam version once ARC is fully required? I don't want that thing on my PC, and last time my friend was telling me about it, Arc wasn't compatible with steam and not to trust it.

I wouldnt worry to much ARC is just a carbon copy of NCsofts launcher. Thats all it is, a launcher that launches launchers :P

Overkill, not wanted, not needed but harmless.

That launcher was not harmless. After the shutdown it would nuke that game's folder.

That is not true, nor is the claim that it deletes your Champions folder when ypu install Arc. ai installed Arc on top of my Champions install, and I still have screenshots from my first week of the game.

    To answer the OP:
We wanted to make one clarification Currently there are no plans to remove any Perfect World games from the Steam platform, or discontinue any products that are currently available for purchase on Steam.

    This is all true.
My screenies went but I did defrag my computer that day also so it might not be anything to do with ARC :3
ARC is harmless all that boo hoo on the STO forums should be ignored ._.

Neph last referred to NCSoft's [cursed be] launcher. That one would delete CoH if you ran it after the shutdown. Screenshots and all.

Edit: misunderstandings resolved. For clarification I have had no troubles with Arc.

OH that now I understand , my apologizes ^__^

Yeah the NCsoft launcher was broken to hell. But fear not ARC seems solid enough. Utterly pointless but solid enough :3

Nepht posted while I was typing; it wasn't there when I responded.

However, that doesn't invalidate my point: I've installed and used Arc without issue. Whatever happened to Nepht was likely a bug. Why would they deliberately set it up to do such a thing?

Just because new software has bugs doesn't mean that it's malicious.

Well as long as i can continue using steam i'm good. I don't want to install any bloatware. Steam i like because i use it for all other sorts of games, I don't plan on playing any other PW games so i have no need for a PW game only platform

Can I continue to launch from the CO launcher, or are they going to make me get a launcher for my launcher?

Based on the discussion over on the STO boards (at least - I don't visit the cesspool that are the NW boards as the unapid moderators there are a bunch of corporate slimeballs), you will be -required- to use ARC once it comes out and it'll do everything for all of PWE's games.

Unless you use Steam - Cryptic at least realizes that using a launcher (Steam) to run a launcher (ARC) to run a game (CO/STO is dumb. So if you use Steam, you'll keep using the standard CO/STO launcher.

I installed ARC just for the fact I play other PWE games. I can say its a nice feature, but one flaw to it is that you cannot adjust window settings nor have it run as administrator so you can minimize the game window or alt tab around. That game window will ALWAYS be on top and I have tried everything in my geeky power to fix it but failed.

I will keep my CO on Steam, since CO is the ONLY Cryptic/PWE Game I play!
So ARC is pretty useless for me!

Technically you don't even need to delete it.

Click the app in Steam to download it.
    Then pause the download.
Open both the normal CO folder and the Steam one.
Copy the contents of the normal folder over to the Steam one.
In Steam have it verify the game and you are done.

Technically at this point you can uninstall the regular CO but I would rename the steam folder copy just to be safe. Then obviously rename it back after.

I see no point to Arc either, though for someone that runs multiple PWE games and does not have Steam it might be an easier solution.
