Common complaints thread

This thread, I already have the flame suit on, but I wanted to bring up the common complaints I see in the forums.

So here goes.

"Nerf X Y or Z"; Very commonly done, naturally, but often they ask for a nerf that takes it to far, to a point of bothering many. Some will be bothered no matter how minor a nerf proposed is, but some people just ask for a nerf without specifying how much they'd want it nerfed.

Suggestions: For those who want to nerf things, think in terms of smaller adjustments, not bigger ones. Bigger adjustments can often create new imbalances, afterall. Blizzard doesn't balance there games by making massive nerfs unless as a last resort, they balance their games on smaller adjustments.

"The game doesn't have any new content since x or y year".

Very understandable, and I think everyone wants new content, especially a new zone. I will be honest, I NEVER liked or enjoyed vibora bay. It has no day/night cycle, and it's content bores me to tears, to many instanced missions that give far to little exp and simultaniously, are also very long and boring missions to, almost like running a marathon.

Suggestion; we DO need new zones, and ask for them, plead for them. But give the devs suggestions on the kind of missions we want. Longer missions should give more exp. Remember that mobs don't drop very much exp, or almost none.

People also ask for new leveling paths. Those people deserve medals for it. Anyone who says they want other things besides new content, don't realise that, new content should be far higher on the priority than ANYTHING because people are really getting bored with the same old stuff over and over again.

Suggestion for both above; could we perhaps have new content at the same time if we have to have a nerf? I would feel alot better if that was the case.

Complaint: "Thats it, I cannot take this anymore, i've had enough so i'm leaving!"

Honestly, people leaving will leave but really guys? Encouraging people to leave makes others who'd stay want to leave to, to many, will only prevent us from getting new content. It's leaving the game in a vicious cycle of "Well this game doesn't have enough players so we cannot give it new content but the lack of new content keeps us from replacing our losses".

So PLEASE people, try to think about what your saying. Alot of my other posts, I say what I say because this one part is one of the reasons i'm getting bothered so much. We are heading towards a morale crisis as more and more people quit and others get frustrated as to "why are we not getting new content?". Lots of people leaving is one of those reasons alone. And the poor morale can lead anyone to post further negative tones, which only further agitates others.

The three above, should be common sense, and seriously, I have looked at the threads alot, I don't see it here. There are some cool threads here that are amusing, but really guys, whether your replying to a thread of these types or posting them, think about what your typing. Some come here, see "Oh ok, go play skyrim instead if you want to solo!" for example, especially used with other posts asking for things most people dislike, it gives a bad image. It's why I've been fed up, because I know people can be better than this.

Regarding point 1. A lot of people claim to want balance...until it involves weakening something. The minute that happens there's a bunch of fallout. There's two sides to a balance, an up and a down to find the place were things level out. People constantly complain when the down comes around and ask for more up as "balance". People don't really seem to want balance. They just want more power, more up on their side of the scale. Even in the times where mobs were buffed and no nerfs took place (putting the "up" on a different part of the scale) there was complaining.

    Regarding point 2. No comment.

Regarding point 3. Of all the games I play(ed) and all the forums I frequent(ed) this one has to have the record, by no small margin, of user accounts making I'm leaving posts for prolonged periods of time while doing anything but. All the other ones people either post and vanish or just vanish but not here for some reason. Here it's "I'm leaving" for weeks, months and sometimes years.

I've given up hope for a foundry. I was kind of jazzed up for it when it was suggested (more so than in other games because a lot of people that were here I know spend a LOT of time crafting interesting stories to tell) but that was a long time and several dev teams ago and the interest in bringing CO's engine up to standard with NW and STO so that we could get a foundry just doesn't seem to be there from Cryptic/PWE.

The biggest concern I have is people that are asking for nerfs want everyone to suffer just so they won't appear to be weaker when they're playing their challenging modes. They won't try and play with just an energy builder or what I would rather see happening: Add challenging content for them. Adding challenging content should be all there to be. Everything else was going smoothly as it was.

Here's the thing when you haven't change a game for 2 years but make big changes like these it's going to hurt because players have been playing the way they have for 2 years that will settle a certain score of players that like the way it is designed for that 2 years. You want a challenging game, play a MMOFPS those go full blown on hardcore mode and you compete directly with other players allowing you to showcase all your virtual skills. A game like this just ends up in cookie cutter builds that everyone has and not having much in the way of hand/eye coordination. The only thing other than builds is who has more stats or who has a better computer and those don't define gaming skills if u asked me.

    4. "If it's free to play, why is there a store? You should give me all of the high-end stuff for free. You do? I mean without grinding for it. That's boring."*

    Suggestion: Shut up.

    * Okay, this happens more in STO, but still...

Which is odd, since STO is WAY more free than CO.

#3 isn't a complaint, simply a statement of intent. Unless the complaint is "soon this game won't have enough of me in it". :)

people who spend an hour in zone saying how bad the game is. If you don't like it, go play something else. It's not as if there aren't hundreds of other games available. Let other people make up their own mind.

nerfs- go read the NW boards under Combat and Pvp, You will see exactly the same threads. "This class /power is OP it needs to be nerfed."
Every single one of them, is someone losing in PvP.

Other levelling paths- we used to have 2 start areas- canada/desert were the 0-15 zones then you did westside. Now its the other way around.
Nw- you can level with a linear(and I do mean dead straight , single path linear) missions, PvP or foundry.
"when are we getting more things to do, I don't count foundry or dungeons , as things to do."
"when are we getting more PvP maps"

new zones/classes/powers- again go see NW forums- within a week of launch-
"when are we getting the next update, when are we getting new classes/races/paragon paths."
Curent "there's only 2 pvp maps, we need more"
"when are we getting tier 3 gear"

and this is a new game getting a lot done. No matter how much gets given, they always want more.

We are finally getting some attention after 4 years. Yes its small things currently.

New zone, yes that would be nice. The alert babies will ignore it. The ones who are sick of doing the same missions will do it a few times then get sick of that.
advertising for the game would be nice.

removing the tailor level limit would be good.

getting it changed from under Atari to under PWE on Steam, so people there can actually see it, would be good.

I've just done another wall of text again. sorry,

    Stuff.

The biggest concern I have is people that are complaining about nerfs want everyone to suffer just so they won't have to pay attention when they're playing their easy modes. They wont try and play better or what I would rather see happening: Add a GOD MODE button for them.

You want an easy game, play a Facebook game.

OP: You bad mouthed the community, you said you didn't care about the game, and you've been shoving it in our faces that you're leaving. Now you've written a post where you've skewed the perception that people saying "so go play another game" are callous and rude.

If someone is being a jerk, "so go play another game" is an effort to make this game's community more positive while hoping the other person can move on to a place where they are happy. If someone is flipping out and raging on the forums, "take a break and play another game" is an effort to help that person calm down and stop stressing.

Take your own advice and look at what you're saying. You're not going to get much sympathy when you keep painting the community in such a poor light.

It seems you never have played Diablo 2 .. i wouldn't call what they did with 1.10 call smaller adjustments .. they were indeed soooo big that it was a totally other game after that.

And they also destroyed the game totally with that for all the people i played with for long years, and also for me in the end.
