Give us your first pvp experience in CO.... even if it wasn't the most graceful or impressive.
For me it was back when AT pvp happened. I ended up in a bash on my Behemoth at lvl 40, fighting a pre-40 Savage. My first thought was "wolverine vs hulk" and I didn't really care about winning, I just kept knocking him off of the top of the buildings really far and giggling about it. At some point he asked me what level I was, and I kind of got the hint that he wasn't level 40... I mean, I was a total noob so I didn't even know how to take it easy. We smacked each other around a bit... I knocked him a bunch more times.... the whole thing was really neat.
It was 2009 and I've done so much since then but I remember going around UTC cage arena at around about level 10 in the first week of launch with super jump and I think it was something stupid like defensive combo and defiance.
Everyone sort of ran around like 'ohh this feels random what am I doing' kinda thing. I wasn't really that into PvP back then though. No I only truly got into PvP almost a year ago when I joined some random new SG S.T.A.R to meet rabidsqauw and one or two others, later on ironwolf to try and get team PvP started. (yes it literally never happened) I also remember back then when we would 2/3 v 1 green machine testing random stuff. Fun times.
My first experience was BASH, in September 2009. I remember going into a full match and being astounded by how strong all the players were. Everyone was invincible to my damage, and they could melt right through me. There were so many broken powers. But the main thing is that instead of getting discouraged, I felt inspired.
The first thing I remember was joining Tier 2 UTC back in 2010. Everything is a bit fuzzy from that except for uppercut ripping everyone a new one.
My first experience in "serious" PvP was 5 or 6 months ago in Bash. I wanted to see what it was like, and I wound up going 10-0 against Imp and a few others... >.>
See back in the days of UTC popping every few seconds (this was around August 2011), I was but a lowly Grimoire with Arcane Vitality. Unfortunately for me, our team was hit with a kicking bug and so it was me vs 3 others.... but fortunately for me, they were a Blade, A Marksman, and an Inferno. The three squishiest (at the time) ATs. So just stood in the middle, summoned Primal Sigils, healed as needed, and rocked the boat! It was a win at 15:12 (they got smart at the end), with most of the time someone taking damage would TP away and another would TP in.. the blade swore I was cheating because Pillar of Poz sent him FLYING whenever he got close. But what made this special was the fact that all, not just the Blade, ran in to deal damage up close at Melee level. I can't help but to laugh at it.
AWWWW CHAMPIONS UNIVERSE! DON'T YOU DARE. BE SOUR. CLAP FOR YOUR NIGHTMARE AND FEEEEEEEEEEEL THE POWAAAAAAH!
First ever PvP experience was at level 37 with Mentella, she was a Mind AT and I was up against an unleashed AT (this was around the time when they first came out) I was told I was going to lose cause Mind AT's were "healing n00bs", so I took up the challenge against the level 40 Unleashed and eventually I won, to which I was called a string of rude words and was then pit against that players brother who was an FF PvPer..lol.
PvP map wise was UTC Cage Match AT style, back when a good Ego Storm could make or break success, I put effort into making my Ego Storm pretty potent and as a result was targeted as soon as I hit the pitch from re spawning
Mine was in like the first week or so after launch. I was around level 14, in a cage match. Don't really remember anything specific, other than fighting some dude up on top of the cage and getting the Ceiling Cat perk.
It was back in 2012.
After initially only having the intention to play CO for pve, i finally decided it's about time,
to try out the pvp system. To my surprise, not a single AT UTC etc. popped, regardless
of how long i waited. I figured out, that duelling is just as good as real pvp and ended up in the
arena. After getting smashed badly, for a period of about 4 weeks, i finally got a grip of my own
powers, feats and devices and slowly started tearing challengers apart, freeforms, aswell as archetypes.
At first, my heart rate went up like crazy, it was that bad i sometimes had to stop for several minutes
until re-duelling because playing as a blade AT against formerly OP FC builds, turned out to be harder
than expected and quite a bit of adrenaline was shed during every fight. It didn't take long, until i was
able to play pvp like it was pve and also learned, how to stay calm during the battles.
One day, a good friend of mine named Brad, sent me a pm:
"Yo dude, i have this OP build u need to see, come duel me at the hospital."
I replied, knowing that he was referrring to a FC build, which i killed plenty of already and knew
how to counter every single of their moves:
"oh, interesting, brt."
As soon as i had arrived, we started challenging eachothers. Around 2 hours into duelling, we decided
to stop and continue another day because we both we're pretty exhausted from the fast pace we had put on.
On that day, i won with a score of 32:6.
To me, this was the very first time i truly pvp'ed in CO.
If i recall i joined with Retro in Feb 2013, me/him and saints used to practice fights to get used to it all since saints was already a lifetime she helped us a little. Eventually it was Lucidity who started to challenge me and Retro and helped us learn a lot faster. So i guess my first real duel was with Lucidity and i enjoyed it alot cause everyone else i'd fought had issues fighting me till that point.
It was when I first started, back with my first toon, Cyber Shot (The Marksman AT). I had "The First Rule" mission and made the newbie mistake of entering the social instance of Carl's Gym.
There was a bunch of other players in the gym, running around or doing nothing. I spent, like, 10 minutes trying to figure out what to do, when suddenly a blue holo-arena thing just appeared. "????? has challenged you to a duel!" I was curionervoucited, so I said "CHARGE!!!".
Unfortunately, the guy had flight powers and I was in "Shooter Controls", so the guy was just zipping around and firing crap at me, while I was just lucky enough to land a few Straight Shots on him. He owned me in the end, and true enough to MMO dueling standards, he wanted to own me again.
Same thing happened. Then it happened again. And again. And again.
That's when I decided that shooter controls were horrible. I switched to "MMO Controls", came back to the boxing ring. The guy was waiting for me and challenged me on the spot. I fared MUCH better that time; I still lost, but I had his health down to about 10%. He didn't challenge me again, and refused my challenges. I remember feeling proud about "striking fear in his heart", or something. :P
And I never did find out what to do on "The First Rule".
I don't remember much about it... What I do remember was my friend telling me that Teleport was the absolute best Travel Power, so I had that. Went into a Cage Match thing, got demolished by the enemy, they trash-talked like the obnoxious brat they were, so I spent the rest of the match using Teleport to anger them as much as possible.
Dasher@Tool-box, donning his armor to prance into battle and blitz the enemy! No joke!
Cupid@Tool-box, stunningly radiant stag ready to play matchmaker between villain and arrow!
Vixon@Tool-box, frighteningly eager to summon despair for his adversaries!
Jebin Zedalu@Tool-box, elementalist weaponmaster. ...One of these things is not like the others!
My first CO PvP experience was the quest you get to queue for UTC cage back in sept of '09. So very different from anything I had ever experienced in GW1. Had an absolute blast.
A few days after launch I went into a BASH, killed a guy, and was harassed afterward, put him on ignore and never went into PVP (except for some Zombie Apocalypse) ever again.
Does it have to be the first? We had pvp before spec trees and win gear. Starting a memorable thread seems silly, as this is similar. Just a thought.
If you want to post about your second or third pvp experience, sure... but if you want to keep inline with the spirit of the thread, please post your first pvp experience.
September 2009. Bash. With a fire build. Destroyed everybody.
Next game, got a big fat uppercut a few times and died many times. Ahhh... those were the days. Loved it. Then i discovered ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE! Fell in love all over again.
Then came 2011/2012 and the end of pvp for me. But i played all day, everyday it seemed for 2 plus years straight! I miss the good old days.
I haven't shared actually. Compared to Jeshu I am a newb, but anyway my first time in an HG was BASH with a freeform Devastator type annihilate build, and while I survived well vs most everyone, Eve kept 1 shotting me with a FF sniper build. Funny stuff.
September 2009. Rolling through UTC with SGmates. All of us ran identical builds and character names (as part ouf our SG theme) with PFF. Good laughs when people would yell to their teammates to "Kill the healer" only to be responded to with "Which one is the healer?"
"There is only one way to support a PFF tank: Send Cyrone lots of money weekly... because he's the only one to successfully be a true PFF Tank." - chuckwolf
what kinda sg theme is identical builds same names? Clone army?
Well, that is altered ego's theme. With their alien drone army. Too be honest most SG's that PvP (or all SG's that PvP) are more like a collection of people who are much different than the people you may find in a themed RP SG, in fact I'm surprised that people in all our SG's get on so well. =D I know in Calli we get into debates about builds and stuff but we always manage to keep it cool.
This has strayed from the topic.
On this account my first moment in PvP was when I just came back on my imp SR build and just got like twice as good gear as I use to have. Oh that was fun because people hadn't played against anything like it in a month or so.
My first PvP experience was late 2011 or early 2012 and I stumbled into Zombie Apoc... I had an absolute blast despite doing horribly and kept playing for several rounds. I even made my second character in the hopes of making her a PvP toon, but alas RL prevented me from playing for a long time and when I returned it wasn't the same ><

I hate you for having a better memory than I do.
Kidding.
My first was a cage match, our sg leader talked us into it. I do not recall kill counts or enemy disposition, I do however recall our leader's comments to the other players during the fight. They asked if everyone was pvping. I had a good chuckle at that.
Don't know, last year sometime, as Shadow, BASH, was curious, didn't stand a chance, end up rage quitting :P, only tried playing PvP a couple of times and found it a lost cause.

Not long ago had a few with think the name was IMP invited a few of us, turned out wasn't so bad, soften the blow of being weak in contrast to team games but that's probably the only good ones I've had in PvP so far, kept getting kicked out of KOTH, didn't even get a chance to enjoy it.
I take this quote from a review that I agree with.
"customisation is so linear; everyone is after the optimal dps:survivability ratio with 0 reliance on other players = autonomous gameplay... Players don't need each other anymore... which in my opinion is a bad thing."
Random duel invite, took it won the fight. Another random duel invite from someone else took it, and got my head caved in within 4 seconds. Then the guy that beat me vs the guy that I beat fought ewach other. The guy that I beat pwned the guy that pwned me. Fun times.

That sums up CO PvP. Its paper , scissors , rock. A lot of players dont understand that they get steamrolled once and they march back to the PH to change their build .

You're almost right... except in pvp we don't have paper very often. We have rock+paper, and we have scissors+paper.... with the former pretty consistently beating the latter.
When there is paper in pvp, it doesn't beat anything, but also nothing beats it.

SG name was Protogen Inc.
Character names were Protogen Inc. Powered Armor.
After the dissolve of the group due to players leaving, I just shortened the character name to Protogen and he became my main.

August 2009, after the infamous "WAR Doomsday Patch" which destroyed that game my SG(comprised of roughly 65 of the top Iron Rock PvP/RvR players) V.I.R.A.L.(shorty after renamed to H.U.N.T.E.R.S.) decided to migrate to CO(it and **** both went into open beta about a day after doomsday and some of us had been considering it before). Being from WAR we all did the tutorial and then poured into the cage matches. I remember that we didn't premade(which is odd for X-WAR players) just for the pure humor of occasionally running into each other. Someone started the joke of murdering knockoffs and keeping a secondary scorecard early on and I remember Shadowrat(a once famous CO artist on the forums) would figure out which knockoff I was going after and do everything in his power to heal them nonstop so I couldn't get the kill. It was pretty hilarious. I also remember getting "Ceiling Cat" my 1st match and we were all excited about that because WAR had alot of lore/perks.
And then, shortly thereafter, came the Lemurian Tridents...but that, as they say, is another story for another time.
Also, while we're heading memory lane I also seem to remember us having alot of laughs and fun with this guy...
Dear Cryptic North, can we have him back? He's missed.

I really don't enjoy PVP in any game. I may partake someday, solely to earn some Perks, but don't expect to ever see me regularly queueing up. ;p
