Great news heroes you can change the difficulty in options. If those that ask for open mishes to be harder...go away far away you sad little man
Cool. Which of the difficulty options will actually make the instance more difficult? Because I tried all of them and they don't seem to actually change anything.
I'm against them implementing them in their current state.
Why? I don't see how having near LR r3 dodge from a single piece of gear isn't ridiculous. Nor do I see how one small change is going to suddenly make everything hard. What would you do instead?
I think many people are just sloppy. They're so used to being able to run in and slaughter everything on their toons that they don't do things like play more cautiously. In alerts, the person tanking never does anything simple like turn the boss away from everyone else. Even when I do that, I end up with two people standing right next to me instead of positioning themselves behind the boss. When something even the tiniest bit challenging shows up, people get crushed.
I went into Warlord with my Unleashed AT, played lead since no one else would. I was in the big room past the elevator, and had cleared all the mobs along the wall. All everyone else had to do was follow me. Instead, someone blindly rushed into the room, pulling some of the side mobs.
The only time I had problems with my Blades AT is when I stupidly tried to follow someone who was rushing through the mobs with epidemic, only to have a bunch of goons pile up at one of the doors, preventing me from continuing. I ended up surrounded and beat down by 10 guys. I made that mistake and know that I'll have to be cautious if someone does that.
These are ATs with rec healing pots and SCR gear that can do fine as long as I'm not careless. I haven't died to Warlord despite stealing aggro and taking several fire patches to the face. It has nothing to do with being pro or epic gear. It has to do with paying attention to what I'm doing.
It's easier to be mad at a gear "nerf" than to admit you could be doing better.
Easiest way to make the game more difficult force our characters to become weaker.
Something we already had the choice to do by removing gear and not taking the good powers. But now we don't have a choice but to have those done to us.

this.
and when you tell them "don't sdtand behind the tank, they res and run straight back"
or the person with high dps ranged attack decides that standing right behind the healer against a boss with freem(cylinder) attacks
.
Boss has aoe attacks- black talon, so they all bunch together. so they all get tnagled.
Dps has black talons attention, so he moves straight across party members, same results.

Yes, easiest way to make NPC numbers bigger in relation to our own is to enjoy less of the games features.
However, I don't see why you think this would make the game difficult. I can take out entire groups of mobs on my soldier just by line of sighting them while using only assault rifle... so how much more "weak" do I have to inject into my build? No attacks at all?

Yes, and sadly due to the state of actual challenge in this game, we would look foolish for actually saying any of this in game because the other person could just respond with "duh... what? i can just respawn, and its not like we can lose, lol"

Why is it okay to keep the game so easy? Am I not allowed to also be selfish and want games that provide actual challenges? What makes the "keep it easy" crowd so special that they get to have a monopoly on having things their way?
It seems like everytime someone request a challenge, they get met with "why don't you just gimp your toon for a challenge?" Maybe the dev should just add a big **** button that makes your toon invincible and do 50 billion points in damage to the whole map.
While i'd like to see them make the game harder, I feel that nerfing dodge as much as they are isn't a good solution. I could have understood them nerfing it to maybe 75% of it's effectiveness and then adjusting powers like LR and other dodge-rating powers to give more flat dodge instead in a smaller amount, as well as adding a dodge cap that can only be exceeded by masterful dodge.
However I do think they could make the game harder by upping the damage mobs do, honestly I don't feel elite really ups the difficulty very much, it tends to make the mobs more durable and gives them dodging, which only makes fights last longer, but doesn't make them harder.
So they could either A, go through and adjust the damage for all NPCs in the game, which would require going and looking at every single npc type... i.e. lots of work, very complicated, and lots of potential for breaking something..
or adjust dodge rating, thereby reducing the one most common thing that is keeping npc damage vs players low.
If you were in their position, and it was your job to do all that work (and subsequently get fingers pointed at you if you screw something up), which would you go for?
Also, people seem to be forgetting something very important.
The change to dodge is not being made to make the game harder.
You can tell... because it won't make the game harder (go ahead and play some characters without any dodge at all).
Hell, for a lot of us, from level 6 to 39 it won't change the game at all... and for a portion of us, it won't even change the game for us at level 40. For the rest, they're going to randomly take more damage than they did before... sometimes.... maybe.
Not sure how the dodge change even got associated with challenging content, since the two topics have nothing to do with one another.

My super cool CC build and how to use it.
How do you know they're implementing them in their current state? From what I've seen they keep changing their current state every week or so...
