Maintenance tomorrow (11/7) will begin at 7am PST, the normal time. This maintenance won't include a patch.

Start time: 7am PST
Estimated duration: 1.5 - 3 hours


Additionally, there's going to be a small change to how global chat works, specifically dealing with channels that have duplicates, with the same name but in quotes. Like channel TrailTurtle Is Awesome and channel "TrailTurtle Is Awesome".

Chat Channels:
-Channels with duplicate names have been removed. Users who attempt to join the original channel will be placed in the expected channel.
-Quotation marks around the channel name will be automatically stripped from now on.
-Some of the duplicate channels were renamed with a _1 suffix to prevent conflicts.


Update: Since there'll be the account server maintenance, the overall downtime will take a little longer. I've changed the timeline to 1.5 - 3 hours.

    Aww, i really hoped that they get at least the veteran unlocks for Lifer to live, well i guess it will happen after i'd beat te 800 days then :tongue:

    That's possibly the reason for this part:
    Some of the duplicate channels were renamed with a _1 suffix to prevent conflicts

    Hopefully that means that they'll end up with Trade_1 rather than being lumped into our Trade channel. Not sure why they didn't just create a NWO Trade channel, much like what the STO players did.

    I too was hoping for the LTS reward unlock this round, i'm dying for that, but what they will be doing baffles me. I see why it needs to be done and hopefully it'll clear some confusion up, but no offense but this wouldn't happen if you hadn't chained your three games together by global channels. I've never understood why you did this and it's the leading cause of communication confusion for players I've seen for the years I've been here, but oh well. I hope this change brings some relief.

    I dont get it im from Europe what are you curently making and can you make the old alert system?

    Another way of looking at it is that the channels across multiple games allow people to keep intouch when playing different games. I know several of the custom channels I'm on have people playing any and all of the three games and when someone needs help or information in one game it's not uncommon for someone playing a different game to chime in with the needed info or to say "hold on" as they switch games to answer the call for help from a friend.

    Basically, it has several upsides.

    Hey, is anyone having trouble getting into the test server now that the down time is over? It's claiming it can't connect to the account server.

    A CO player did create NWtrade, also NWOtrade.

    The problem is, the NW players couldn't work out how to join a channel. They were all used to having the channels already there and listed.

    Morbic collected and listed all the chanels and instructions on joining.

    The Trade they have is only useable in NW because they were getting confused by items from other games despite being told repeatedly that it was from other games.

    Well, I'm sure there's a lot of people who are only playing one game - say, NWO - and having chats from different games combined is pretty uncommon to say the least, so some confusion is understandable. That said, I do like the way the chat system / friends list is combined - mostly due facts Kenpo mentioned. In regards to trade, a 'real', UI supported trade channel could of course go a long way to clearing up that issue.

    Personally, I like the way Guild Wars 2 handles the issue even more.. you simply can't trade items directly between characters. Means there's no trade spam on chat. You can still mail items freely to anyone, which works if you just want to give handmedowns to friend. But all secure trade goes through system similar to auction house. It also creates a nice money sink through AH tax.

    I remember the bannings that happened in the first few months because NWO Players thought they were being linked fake items.

    April 2011, Think I started in August 2011, 726 days not including silver ones but that was only a few weeks. Alt-itis struck early
