Why don't we have dual-costume sets: one for the lock-boxes, one for the Z-Store, etc.
Hear me out...
I want the sharkfin set badly, I really like it. however I DON'T like the whole gamble box thing.
BUT... what if Cryptic North could put up an slightly altered set in the Z-Store? Like different color or little texture difference? I'm not a designer, I don't know how it would work.
However the two sets would be similar enough to satisfy my burning desire for that helmet, yet different enough to also justify the market for the gamble boxes.
They could do the same thing for the Avian Set.
They already do it with Vehicles....
Well the pieces sell for cheap now, around 300G each piece. Its a lot cheaper considering the effort it would take to farm Q to convert.
Its never going to be in the store for direct purchase though, even of variations, because it would "screw over the players who gambled for them.
The sympathy for those players is odd considering that if they didn't want to screw the players Cryptic wouldn't make them gamble in the first place with those horrible winning numbers.
its not sympathy for those players, its a desire to keep feeding the cash cow.
I'm not saying I don't understand their position, I just thought maybe they could figure out a way to please BOTH sides, look at the two VTOLS, the lock-box one is super pimp and the Z-store one is just regular right?
makes sense to me to do the same with the cossie unlocks. and the HARD-core peeps will want both, how is this not win-win?
The Epic Samurai set used to be a C-store thing, but now the Red Banner drops pieces of it. What about the people who bought it from the C-store?
For added fun, the costume unlock items do not check for C-store unlocks. So if you bought the Epic Samurai set, the Red Banner samurai costume unlocks will still think you'll be unlocking a new costume piece. The same applies for the old Halloween C-store set and the costume unlocks from the Halloween Treat Bags.
Also, considering the player retention issues this game has, some way to re-introduce the lockbox pieces should be something to consider.
Grind for the Grind God! Tokens for the Token Throne!
Cryptic is the developer, which means they create content. PWE is the publisher, which means they say how content is distributed. One thing about this content distribution is lock boxes. Cryptic doesn't actually have the choice to stop lock boxes from happening.
It's not because they don't want to do it, it's because they don't have a say in doing it. If PWE says they want a costume set in a lock box and nothing else, Cryptic has to do it.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not opposed to this idea. I just know that as long as PWE can make money off it, they'll keep doing so. /sigh
The people who bought the Epic Samurai Set, got the whole Set. People who got it by drops, didn't.
The good thing about the Grabbagged Costume Sets was, theyr not that great. I do fine without them.
And i got the most of the pieces, i really wanted, from the AH anyway. Without using any Keys.
I mean what else i can use thousands of the ingame resources for?
And yes, i'm all for the C-store Sets.
