Reputation System

While CO has some great aspects, like the char customization, it lacks in end game content. I would propose an account reputation system in order to give players something to do with their characters:

Possible reputations could be either certain groups, like UNTIL, or areas like Millennium City or Canada. Every time you do a quest connected to the reputation you earn tokens. So a Millennium City reputation could award tokens for every quest performed in the area. That means a new character will immediately contribute to the account reputation. Further the high lvl lairs (or something similar) could be added to the queues and award marks. Also nemcon should be queue able from everywhere.
Such a system would give high lvl players something useful to do. Further making new characters will also allow you to improve your reputation. Even better, people will have more reasons to play the already existing content by slapping some marks as reward to it.

Now what should the reputation offer?
At each level it could unlock a shop. The shops could sell costume unlocks (themed to the reputation), maybe vehicles, special mods, gear for alts (like the nemesis gear but maybe with a little different stats), boosts (maybe a story xp boost),..
There could also be passive unlocks. Like a once per day teleport to ren center power for a Millennium City reputation. And there could be improvements to your hideout. Maybe unlockable merchants or services.
The price should probably be a combination of marks, globals and questionite.

So how would the whole thing be accomplished technically? Well I would use the STO system, more or less. STO has a char bound reputation but that would hurt CO quite a bit I think. So that got me thinking, it could simply work like the fleet base in STO does.
Every char you have shares the reputation, like a fleet shares the base. Every char earns marks for himself. You can slot your account project, every char can contribute with his resources and all benefits unlock for you whole account. I am not an expert but I think something like that should be possible.

It would give players something to do and give them a reason to continue playing CO. If the reputation offers nice rewards for questionite it might even boost sales for cryptic. If some of the rewards a improvements for a hideout it might get people to buy them.
I do not know how much work such a system would be since STO already has something like that. If it can be converted to an account reputation as I suggested it should improve CO quite a bit.

I don't want another currency type. Just gimme questionite and put more stuff in the cash/questionite shop.

I do not really care about the name. But they do call it reputation in STO and since it is based on that I just used it.

It might not be the most elegant solution. But I would say a new currency is a small price to pay if it offers some long term motivation and something new to do. In my opinion CO simply lacks a goal. So why not give players a reason for their new toons? Why not some new end game content and a true reason to do a lair more than one time?

This already exists in the game, it's called Recognition, it's a currency that allows you to purchase travel powers, costume parts, gear and mods. The types are UNTIL, PRIMUS, MCPD and Silver Champions.

The only issue I have with it in it's current phase is that it's a specific drop (it should just be collected like other resources, automatically as with globals) it's not movable between characters (storing it in a shared bank account would be FANTASTIC, or just combine all resources between characters automatically) and the gear and store items are so so at best.

Oh ups you are right, actually forgot about that. But the Recognition we have is not really what I had in mind. I don't want simply a currency.
I suppose I should have explained it better. What I want is a system with progression in tiers. Once you gain enough xp in your reputation you advance a tier. Each tier unlocks new stuff, a new shop etc. The marks you gain can be used to either buy stuff in the unlocked shop or converted to xp to lvl your reputation.

The idea is that you have something to do, some way to advance you char/account. A motivation for playing.

I'd rather not have tiered rep; I'm sick of grinding Exalted rep.

That being said, it'd be nice to have group-specific items (and no, I don't mean that you only get, say, Demon pieces through UNTIL, I mean actual costumes and skins people of the organizations wear,) limited-time items, and similar reasons to get Recognition.

Also, I agree that all Recognition needs to be account-bound along with the purchases. There should be pretty much no reason at all to not have all currencies account-bound, since all the rewards are account-bound.
