Champions Online is now over 4 years old so .....

psytce0002psytce0002 Posts: 56 Arc User
How about lowering the price for the lifetime membership ?

I would like to get it but at $ 299 it is just too expensive for a game that is 4 years old ....

I think that having a $ 199 sale, like you have had a few times for STO over the last 2 years while never having one for Champions, might get a little influx of cash for you guys and not for nothing but a few sales at $199 is better than none at $ 299 .........

Just some food for thought :)

Thanks!

Good idea... and, realistically, how much longer would a "lifetime" really be, at this point? I honestly keep expecting to hear that PWE's pulled the plug.

I dunno. Flyff was launched around 2005, so it's like 8 years old, and it's still around... and look at it... it has like 200 people playing it, and it's still live. There's a list of MMOs just like that, so if you look at the MMO industry as a whole, CO isn't dying... it's doing about average. This is what happens when a market gets flooded with about a thousand different products in such a short time span. CO isn't going anywhere, because there's simply no reaon for it too! So lifetime could very well be another ten years. So smile about it! :D

As for the subscription sale, sure why not. Throw in a free Ripper AF with each purchase or something.

If Mythic had decided to give away lifetime memberships for Warhammer at the giveaway deal of $199 on March . . .

    . . . it'd be just like this.

Just stick to Gold - if you must.

Go away for a few days and my post gets WAY off topic ...

I'd like to see a response from the powers that be ... if possible .... I still have enough 60 day cards to last over a year so a lifetime sale is not really needed for me to keep playing as a gold member, but I'd still get it at $ 199 ... so how about it ....

    Thanks!

I hope you get your response. This has been asked about numerous times over the years (especially when STO was having the LTS sales) and no response was given so it'd be nice to hear something about it.

    Yes and no?

Ultima Online is still going to, there's a lot of MMOs still alive, limping along on a dedicated fanbase.

World of OrcsVsHumans, EQ and UO are still around because they've been able to find and stay in the sweet spot by regularly expanding their games and keeping their loyal subscribers happy over the years. They'll continue to be around as long as they maintain the formula.

I'm not sure Cryptic has it in them to be capable of that sort of longevity or success. Poor game management and F2P pitfalls being their biggest problems.

Well, they've got a new dedicated group taking the reins now, let's wait and see what they do before judging any imminent dooms so hastily.

Rune..scape is a year older than WOW, has a third upgrade/setting and is still running the original game on servers too. It has a large supply of subscribers and F2p accts.

That's always been my stance regarding this game. You completely misunderstood what I was saying if you thought I was drawing a dooming conclusion.
