A Hero's salute to Claudia the Cryptic Plaza hot dog stand girl

While on patrol in the northeast part of the city near Cryptic Plaza, I came across a group of Dr. Destroyer's robot minions up to no good. I immediately told them to stop what they were doing and come with me to police headquarters.

As usual for villianous villians....I was met with a hail of laser bolts and death ray fire.

Not so usual however was the plucky reponse of Claudia, the Hot Dog stand girl nearby.

While I dodged blasts and smashed in robot faces, there was Claudia doing her part by throwing hot dogs at the robotic criminals, all the while cheering me on to victory!

So here's to you Claudia! We need more unsung everyday citizen heros like you!

Oh, and a millionare...friend...of mine will be reimbursing you for all those hot dogs...

(Seriously, I think that's the first time I ever saw one of the NPCs get involved, well other than police officers, in a fight between good guys and bad guys. All other times, they just run off. I thought Claudia's assitance was awesome! ...and I almost got frapped by the bad guys I was laughing so hard! Good job Cryptic folks! I continue to find golden moments like this...and they are definately a part of why Champs is so cool to play. )

Go break chairs in Ren Cen, and when one drops a Boost, pick it up. If there's any citizens around, they'll start throwing rocks at the Nemesis spawns.

There's also a high-level mission in Canada where you rescue a photographer; if you get attacked while he's following you, he'll start throwing beer bottles.

Some civilians are -really- hard core.

In Westside? There is a group of them who know kung fu and will beat the crap out of Red Banner thugs (Opposite Lin Qi).

Also Civilians have actually protected me whilst I was afk, I was on auto run and ran into a wall (I was level 11 or 12) and was being attacked by Maniacs or something and when I came back these Civilians were almost through the three thugs and were moving on to the final one! XD

Millennium City is the wrong city to invade with it's kickass civilian power!!

    Oh that's nothing. Absolutely nothing.

During the first CO Anniversary, Mega-D robots (the big giant ones from the Museum event) ran nuts around the entire city.

If someone pulled one a bit too close to RenCen, EVERY CITIZEN would jump in to try to kill them. The hotdog people, the tailors, the vendors, everyone.

The citizens in MC will take nothing from anyone. :D

And remember all the fallen Hotdog Vendors at the front stairs of Champs HQ when the Mega Destroids attack.

This confirms my theory that Online is in a universe where EVERYONE is a superhuman of some sort, it's just that most heroes have spent too much time cultivating their mild mannered alter egoes in which they pretend to be clumsy, weak, etc, to realise that nobody is baseline human entirely.

I do note that random citizens used to be able to jump hella high in pursuit of their saviour to give them a random citizen mission. Higher than even a Rank 3 Superjump, faster than a speeding bullet.

Dr Destroyed took out Detroit once. The people who live there now are survivors, they're hardcore, and they're not going to lose their homes again.

Also, 4 out of every 5 citizens are either a super hero, a super villain or a henchman of one of the gangs.

Really, I dunno why anyone tries to mess with MC. It's probably the most dangerous place in the world.

Thanks, Capt Hunter, for sharing a great story. I really like that. It was that and Finn's point about all the dead hot dog vendors. There's a great untold revenge story here.

I swear, it's something in the water. Everyone there grew up drinking that super soldier serum from the tap mixed with Tang. There's some super radiation that powers everyone.

In my headcanon, I always thought even the most common Purple Ganger had some limited super toughness or something, drinking the same super Kool-Aid heroes did.

What I like most is everyone who lives there is just so used to it by now. That's the story. Destroyer Bots in my backyard? Heave half a brick at 'em.

Too bad they removed the 'Assist Hotdog Vendors' mission.

I already knew that Mill City was largely populated by supers - they can just casually shoulder the Ferrous Gentleman aside when he's in their way, and he's wearing steampunk powered armor!

That's a beer bottle. Escaped prisoners in Westside use the same animation. Add flames for the Arsonist's Molotov Cocktail attack.
Choose your enemies carefully, because they will define you / Make them interesting, because in some ways they will mind you
They're not there in the beginning, but when your story ends / Gonna last with you longer than your friends

    The hotdog vendors sell beer!??!?!

In todays news, hot dog vendors all over millenium city were swarmed with customers... then a riot broke out... Sapphire and Witchcraft showed up and did some sassy dancing and things calmed down. Then Kinetic had a few too many and took his pants off... there were approximately 325 injured, and 26 killed, and one old man had his ice cream cone knocked out of his hand and was sad about it.

Yessiree. Always been in the game, too. Since Beta.

I imagine the functionality was in the Alpha too, but we didn't get to see MC until Beta started. Alpha consisted of Canada and Desert with a slice of Monster island and Lemuria near the end of Alpha / Start of Beta.

Some time long ago, I was doing the mission to escort James Harmon and the crowd at his "speech" area.

Along the way, my Nemesis minions spawned in. I was a bit involved with the Destroids already, but was ROFLMAO when the hot dog vendor over there took out ALL OF MY NEM minions and left me a nem mission.

Oh that was my fault. Sorry. I'll go track him down and get him a new one.

    I LOVE this comicstrip!
It never fails to remind me of my (mis)adventures in Champs!

'Wen considered the nature of time and understood that the universe is, instant by instant, recreated anew. Therefore, he understood, there is in truth no past, only a memory of the past. Blink your eyes, and the world you see next did not exist when you closed them. Therefore, he said, the only appropriate state of the mind is surprise. The only appropriate state of the heart is joy. The sky you see now, you have never seen before. The perfect moment is now. Be glad of it.' Terry Pratchet The Thief Of Time

its not the super soldier serum, it is the radiation left from when Destroyer vaporized the town, and micro-waved everything.
