Will we ever see permanent sidekicks in CO? We can have a constant companion in NW, and in STO four bridge officers for ground missions. In fact, having multiple sidekicks would be nice, you could have your own little super team/group!
I can't seem them making sidekicks permanent. They want you to buy them over and over. I can't see them EVER making multiples, unless it's a power choice or something. They don't really want you to be your own team, they want you to team with others.
And yet, they make free permanent sidekicks available in a F2P game.
It's not that they don't want to make those for CO, they don't have resources of man and money to spare to do it.

Yes. This has been requested for quite a long time, and it's kind of ironic that, out of Cryptic's three games, the only one that doesn't have this is the one for a genre where it's a long-standing staple.
Even if our permanent sidekick is done like Nemeses -- pick a power set and customize the appearance -- it would be a perfect fit.
If we have to pay Zen or Drifter Salvage for it, that would be OK. I'd do it -- as long as we can customize the appearance.
In my opinion; the sidekicks could work like this:
1-the sidekicks can be your other characters. But when summoned, the sidekick will have to adapt it's level to the main character's. Still, the sidekick will gain experience points according to the main character's level. But the bigger level the sidekick is,the lesser experience it will get. Also; the sidekicks must be an archetype-based character-like in the nemesis system-since the freeform type system would not be created-whether you want it to be created or not.
2-Because it would be overkill; the more main character summons it's sidekicks, the more it's power capacity will be divided.for example: if you have another character of yours as a sidekick; the main and sidekick's power effect will be degraded to %50.if it's 3; then it's %33,3 for each of them instead of using the %100 potential.

Maybe not multiple but definitely permanent. I was gonna buy duratok gorehowl for my main, and the robot sidekick for one of my alts, but I don't want to waste my money on something I don't even get to keep.
There should be custom sidekicks given their own costume using the same costume creator of your main and be able to choose an archetype that you have access to. They can also be minimally controlled by the pet bar just like a minion does.
I've always dreamed of bringing to life character concepts that depend on a sidekick. Got one idea for a rich suave guy with his bodyguard who doubles as a butler. The bodyguard would be his sidekick.
buggy I think thats an awful Idea, its easy enough to level.
Signed. Perma sidekicks should've BEEN in the game, and its well known its easy to implement I vote if they're given naturally in the game, it be level 30

So you believe that the sidekicks should be similar to the temporary timed sidekick items in the store, but with a customization option similar to the nemesis system and with permanent time? That's nothing special to me.
And care to expalin why my idea of character sidekick is awful?
I mean, without thinking about limiting anything at all, you will get nothing but frustration, since this is cryptic not blizzard we are talking about...Besides,didn't you read what i wrote previously about equalizing the power status between the main character you use and the sidekick characters you would bring in?
Then again, thank you for reading my post(s)
Yeah I think it should essentially be like the temp sidekicks with a customization option ala nem.
Anyhow "equalizing" is whats known as sidekicking, its what any player can do already.... so its not a new concept >_> but the reason I think its awful, is because Who the hell wants their player to be on auto pilot, I didn't create a character get him to level 40, just to follow around my level 30 and do half of my work for me. do you know how easy it is to make a pure dps build slap it onto a zombified version of me and have it do everything? Imagine some of the best players in the game on auto pilot while they're on alts. it'll be chaos. Especially since this situation would be one way or the other, they wouldn't choose both, not only that but to even do that would be so unrealistically hard code wise it would call for some serious in game engine work.
Create a sidekick using the nemesis sytem at level 30 is simple codework/coding. and half of it seems like copy and paste work at that. Create something using a copy and pasted nemesis system from a new or preexisting npc. After you choose his personality and look or whatever, Do a stupid mission where you work with him or save him. afterwards he works for you, becomes a "summon device" that cannot be sold nor traded, copy and paste the "npc pet system". congrats you've just made a sidekick cryptic.

i'm so curious.can you tell me how is it a simple codework/coding? scratch that:does it have to work in the same, unbalanced way of nemesis system, have to look the same way; thus have to be stereotyped? you can't beat an elite nemesis without having a"pure dps build".
does it really matter if my idea is chaotic and unbalanced or not?
The game is ALREADY unbalanced.you think having a decent sidekick system would fix everything?
why not think freely-but at the line of the game engine-instead of limiting yourself?
why can't we have both?
i don't know,since it's "SIMPLE"...
besides,we are superheroes. after controlling the mega destroids; i've discovered that there is no such thing as balance in this game.i mean.destroying everything on the path with micro munitions-rockets?healing in seconds? yeah right...
The sad thing is that we already have permanent sidekicks in the form of horrendously inaccessible (and broken) things like Teleiosaurus Pheremones. Good luck with the Legacy Device Kit gamble.
For everyone else, there's the farming of various Rent-A-Sidekick devices from missions like Whiteout and Aftershock.
So yeah... wouldn't it be easier to offer it upfront? Have it bind to character on equip so to keep the cash flow going. Obviously, the price would be higher (probably not as high as a freeform slot) to keep the existing time-limited devices competitive but people would still buy it.

RIP Caine
Oh yes please.
But in the meantime the Steelhead Soldier is easy to get and free from Whiteout episode 1.

improvise the idea if you want to
