Did you know that "Donkey Kong" isn't the actual name of the game? The Japanese words for "donkey" and "stupid" are either the same or very similar. "Donkey" is a mistranslation.

Take from that what you will.

    Actually...

There is a NES game out there called Cocoron which has a pretty neat character customization system, even if the options were very out there. It's really neat and Mega Manish! If CO were to have an 8-bit version, that's the first place I'd point them to get inspiration.

    http://www.hardcoregaming101.net/cocoron/cocoron.htm

A Donkey Kong-like game, however, will do just as well. :P

My understanding was that they were looking for a name with connotations of being stubborn -- so Donkey was meant not so much as a direct translation.

(All second-hand and hearsay, though, I haven't researched it.)

Very cool, I always like 8-bit stuff.

You should make an 8 bit hero games game... it would be a lot like Karate Champ, except both combatants have their health constantly refilling to full.

The game ends when everybody quits and goes to play Street Fighter.

Googling this, I found that the story was actually that Shigeru Miyamoto thought "donkey" meant "stupid" in English.

Did you know that the original name for Pac-Man was Puck-Man? You'd think it was because he looks like a hockey puck but it actually comes from the Japanese phrase 'Paku-Paku,' which means to flap one's mouth open and closed. They changed it because they thought Puck-Man would be too easy to vandalize, you know, like people could just scratch off the P and turn it into an F or whatever.

yes someone noticed after printing stationery.

just to show you a high IQ doesn't mean you think about what you are doing.
Bumper stickers from Mensa which showed they didn't ask their teenage members before printing them.

    Is yours big enough?
    Are you high enough?

A group of my competitors here in town named themselves Advanced Surgical Specialists.

We always knew they were A.S.S.'s, but it was nice to see them finally admit it, at least until someone pointed it out to them. Then they had to change all their expensive signage.

But the real point of me doing this was all about the foundry. Instead of another thread going can we have the foundry and getting smacked down. Do a show and tell :P I made a mish people played it. Half a day out and over 20 peeps have played.

Now if that was a proper foundry mish I would have probably gotten 3 times the amount of plays say 60 plays. Doesnt seem that much does it.

    But consider this.

Say another 200 players made CO foundry missions and got the same amount of theoretical plays that be 1200 plays.

Thats a couple of dozen gameplay hours created by players. Now we would need to justify the foundry here ( cause it would take some work and time is money ) it would need to be paid for and couldn't be free here , foundry slots should be a Zen Store items. I reckon it would pay for it self .

Give everyone one free slot, with unlimited buying potential. Charge a reasonable amount per slot, with a discount for bulk purchases, say 200Z for one, 500Z for three, 1500Z for ten.

Or, if you want to prevent people from creating free accounts to get unlimited slots, make the one free slot for Golds only, like the free Hideout.
