One way vehicles could have been much worse.

If they were really money-hungry, they would have made the vehicles bind to individual characters. That way, you would have to have gotten a vehicle for each character that you wanted to use while participating in the new "vehicle-centric" content. Making vehicles bind to account instead was actually a real money loser.

They are great for traveling around the maps when you are a low level.

Yep, zipping around on my jetbike is great fun and I really like the fact I can pass it over to my other characters through the bank in my hideout... and since none of my characters fly, using it to travel around is actually very useful.

They are great for travelling around maps when you're a high level.

Compare how many tanks you see in comparison to jets or bikes. Both among players and in terms of what cryptic is making. The one thing vehicles got going for them is mobiility, so stat the hell out of flight speed on those vehicles and cross MC in 20 seconds!

Which would be great if there was anywhere to go. :/

(About a year ago it occurred to me to stock up on Become Ghost and similar drops for when my flightless characters could really use flight)

The fact that they've stuck with vehicles for so long means people are buying them and buying mods. They're making money. Just like lockboxes.

They're great for traveling around maps even more when you're a low level. I don't take an alt out without giving them a Prototype Hawkwing with a couple speed boost mods on it. F superjumping to gorillacop, I'll get there by jet in three seconds.

I usually save the 'wing for when I have to get across Canada or the Desert in a hurry - Superspeeding across can be fun for a while, but about the seventh or eighth time, you just want to get it over with and not have to worry about the mobs, you know? (Also, I once accidentally discovered a small box canyon, on the extreme eastern edge of the map somewhere east of the Atomic Wastelands; I fell into it, and found that there was no way out with Speed. I eventually had to 'port back to RenCen and start over again. Not fun.)

It also comes in handy when I'm looking for the lvl 38+ stuff on MI, so I don't have to slog all the way from the Superjet to the far side of the island. Not all my toons can fly.

Apparently I have a tendency to make threads like that. I keep making them because I know they won't actually get those ideas.
