It's a system I disliket to simply because it can mute someone for 24 hours. Regardless of how someone is toward me, I have a problem with someone being chat-muted for 24 hours based on what I do. If someone needs to be chatbanned, that is a GM decision.
However, I have placed this person there. I said I was 'hesitant' to use it, not completely opposed to it. I'm sorry if I wasn't clear, and I'm glad I could give you the opportunity to be snarky.
Generally, there are no GMs to make such decisions, Cybersoldier. Ignore and report spam are we've got.
I use /ignore on people that purposefully try to harass or offend me. If they get a ban, well, that's too bad: don't try to make people mad or annoyed on purpose.
I don't know how many harassment tickets I've submitted over the years, never a response. Not a single one. Now usually these tickets were because someone rudely rejected my solicitations for ERP. The nerve of some people to get belligerent when I ask over and over to engage with them in activities of a lascivious nature.
By the way, if anyone is lookin for some ERP's... call me?

Plus it's kind of sad it's the way of the world.
Someone get sexually harassed at work for example, its expected that the person that is the target of the harassment got harassed is to quit and move to another job or else, they are viewed as not really wanting to "fix" the situation. And usually to get anyone take it seriously, someone have to be slapped with a lawsuit before the company decides they want ot take "proper" action and rid of the offender something they should of done in the first place instead of leaving it up to the victim to uproot their life and work, and move because some nutcase cant act civil. Shouldnt it be the offender be the one that should have to leave?
It's known as cyber-stalking and harassment. Serious offense and such ya-da ya-da. :rolleyes: We all know that drill. Can go beyond Cryptic if you wish, but -you- must be the one to take that action, and bring fourth that evidence. This is long-term solution that has no immediate effect.
However, if you want to take action there and then to prevent them from following you, use "/anon". This will make you appear offline, and the offender will no longer be able to search up your name. I laughed when people would often say "There's always a way to find you.", never said anything till--well, now.
When you're done, use "/unanon". Works like a charm. This will make you appear offline to everyone, and your name will not come up on search results. Try not to spam it. All your friends will see it as you logging off and on.
I did this back when free-to-play was announced and I was threatened to be spammed by different accounts. The game is a big place, and with no search tracking, they'll be searching for hours. If they find you, it'll be really easy to lose them at the jet or simply by switching zones.
If it persists, continue to gather evidence and shoot for the long-term solution.

-Player is now on ignore. Several friends of mine have been told of the incident, seen the chat logs, and placed the player on ignore as well. I did not ask anyone to, and I specifically stated that using 'report spam' was not the right thing to do.
-I reported it, as I said before.
-I made it a point to address a person who knows the player, and requested they ask their friend to simply not interact with me. IRL, when I have a problem with someone, I've always preferred the 'You do you, I do me' thing. I asked their friend to ask the player to simply pretend I do not exist and I will extend the same courtesy.
-I am an understanding person. I get it, sometimes people get a bad perception of you, or perhaps they hear something about your and misunderstand it, or they simply are irked by something you do for reasons that have nothing to do with you and you're just the easiest target to project something on. I'm forgiving, so if the person would approach and apologize somehow, I've made a pledge to accept it. However, just like any other situation- I do not go and try to force and apology or request it, they approach me.
None of this has anything to do with ERP, as I've never interacted with this person before the harassment began. To be honest, for the life of me I can't figure out -why- they do this, but I'm not going to wrack my brain trying to figure it out.
If the harassment occurs again, I'll simply report it again. Several harassment complaints can't be blown off, I'd hope.

I went into Club Caprice once with my main. 30 seconds in, someone asked me if I wanted a quick "cluck." Thing is, it was a totally serious offer (unlike most times when folks see my toon and joke around). I haven't been back since.
On the rare occasion I've been harassed in-game, I've hit the ignore button faster that the Flash through a sack of sliders. One time a whole guild came at me for blowing off a troll, and I reported the lot of 'em. It was insane. I understand that anonymity is the largest weapon in a troll arsenal, and it's unrealistic to expect a 100% vanilla experience on the internet, but I guess I just don't understand the mentality of some of these basement-dwelling mouth-breathers who's sole purpose is to make something less enjoyable for anyone around them.
And ERPers? They're the main reason I have a very limited number of female toons. Call me crazy, but even though I'm a dude, I have no interest in being called out like I were a lady. I mean, hey, ERPers can do what they want, whatever curdles their cheese, but that unsolicited stuff? I have no time for that.

Entered Caprice many moons ago with an alien that wasn't attracted to humans/demons in any way. I wound up getting many tells from people that didn't appreciate the fact I remembered little things like biochemical barriers and that aliens may not be automatically attracted to other species. I can't say how many times I've been in Club Caprice, but it's under half a dozen. Maybe that has something to do with it. Also, I've only gone in with male characters, so far.
Now, I don't want to. It's becoming disheartening, the things that are happening in this game.
I have played male toons for well about a year of my CO career and made my first female around the beginning of this year. Of course all my toons are some sort of animal but hell, if they have boobs, start hitting on them. It wasn't then that I had respect for those that played female toons because holy cow the stuff you guys get in PMs and the weirdos that walk up to you. Doesn't matter how many times I can repeat in my bio that I don't do ERP UNLESS it leads to it in the RP, and what I mean by that I mean over a period of a few weeks, not in a few minutes. It is only RP and yes I can be honest I have done ERP but only because it lead to it after a long period of time after getting to know the person, just like how a relationship is suppose to happen.
I've never had any problem with erper's, even those in my sg that choose to do so because there's a certain decorum that doesn't get breached. What I can't stand are those that never really have any sort of off button, but they don't really harass me as such as they annoy me. Igno button works wonders in such a case.
Although I do bite when someone comes for me, there's never been a case where I wasn't able to defend myself against it. I'm a cheeky b****, so if it's on, then it's on.
However the whole erp experience is one I wouldn't want to make because I keep picturing a child on the other end pretending to be grown, or some virginal youth wasting his time in Club Caprice instead of going out and getting himself some in real life. You never really know with these things, so i just stay my behind out of Club Caprice.
But the random times where I have been approached, a simple "Sorry, I don't rp at all" sufficed.

Too be honest there is PLENTY of that between MY Characters' Backstory, Lore and Artwork, so I know from personal experience the appeal of it since I'm actually fun of that Interspecies Romance!

I somehow manage to avoid most of these type of incidents. I have over 40 characters, and of these, only four are male. Each of my female toons is what I consider to be attractively shaped, some Amazons, some small and dainty.
I get occasional comments - most positive - and when someone fawns a bit much, they usually come out and ask "Do you ERP?" or something similar. I tell them "Sorry, I just play the game, and try to get as many 40's as I can." Most of the time they say "That's too bad. Good luck." and move on.
The only grief I've ever received in over 2 years was about a year ago, I had experimented with some flesh tone on a costume, and someone came up to me and told me I must be a child (I have children of my own) to come up with that look. It wasn't nude or implying nudity, with less than half the skin of the bikini options we have. When I tried to respond, I found I was already on ignore. I typed in local that I had less skin showing than a lot of people and that they were a bit puritanical to play a video game with violence, and hit ignore on them.
That was the only event, so I guess I've been lucky.
The "You're over sexualized" thing is very nuanced. It's not about how much skin is showing, and it's impossible to avoid, because it's subjective in a personal, cultural, and situational way. You pretty much have to go out, knowing that someone might hate you for the way that you're dressed.
You've figured out where you stand on the issue, and you can change you mind if you feel the need to, but that's about all that you can do.

No, I straight up mistelled and said I'd ___ the wrinkles from an old man's ____ for an awesome sci-fi game using the Cryptic engine. In local (And I've said WAY worse in local, around friends and such). What I said was rough, yeah- but 72 hours makes me think that this person and some of his friends are greifing. Not sure how customer service would see that.

Actually, I've made a couple of "nude" characters, if you consider the Barbie version of Dr. Manhattan to be nude. No, you can't do it in correct skin tones (though I haven't done dark brown), but you can match the flesh to the tights. :biggrin:
I didn't keep the characters, because there was no real purpose other than trying a couple of color combinations. It was just an exercise, since, as a Silver player, I'm not exactly rolling in character slots.

No, I straight up mistelled and said I'd ___ the wrinkles from an old man's ____ for an awesome sci-fi game using the Cryptic engine. In local (And I've said WAY worse in local, around friends and such). What I said was rough, yeah- but 72 hours makes me think that this person and some of his friends are greifing. Not sure how customer service would see that.
Not to mention, I booted someone from my SG recently and he was a lil' butthurt.
Actually, I've made a couple of "nude" characters, if you consider the Barbie version of Dr. Manhattan to be nude. No, you can't do it in correct skin tones (though I haven't done dark brown), but you can match the flesh to the tights. :biggrin:
I didn't keep the characters, because there was no real purpose other than trying a couple of color combinations. It was just an exercise, since, as a Silver player, I'm not exactly rolling in character slots.
Part of the problem since December, 2012.
They are catmenn. Tiger Stripes and Leppard Spots don't have pants...
