Question about Resistance

I'm a recently returning player from about 2 years ago. I used to run Resistance on Elite with a few of my Champs, and can remember for the most part what it was I would do. However when I went back to do it again I have a problem. Namely, I can't seem to target the Consoles from 100ft out anymore. Heck I can't even seem to target them from 50ft, and it seems I have to be standing right on top of them to get a target on them, and of course on Elite this doesn't help because the Sentinels activate as soon as I get to 99 ft.

Anyone know if I'm doing it wrong, or if this was changed or something? I even tried setting a hotkey for target cursor location, even told auto target to allow targeting of destructibles, but still can't seem to target them without being right on top of them.

Thanks for taking the time to read this. Any help is appreciated.

    They changed it.

I play off and on every few months and farm Resistance often.

They made a change where you can not get credit for killing the Mega Destroid next to the terminal you are aiming at, while it is falling down. Some did this to get credit for the accolade and xp. At the time of that change, they also changed the distance from which ( or to which.. my grammar fails me, sorry) you can target the console terminal to attack it for defeat.

So in short, yes, they changed it. No matter if you run it on Normal or Elite, you have to be very, very close to it to target it. However, you can still hit it with AOE if you target something near it. ( I use Avalanche on my glacier toon and hit the robot near it to wipe them both out before the timer expires)

Thank you. I wondered you know? I'm like " dang it I can't get a target on them! " I brought in my pet user who has orbital cannon, and on the first console had to just stand there and wait for them to walk close enough to blow it for like 5 minutes but it worked, the 2nd one I could actually target by JUST standing on the outskirts of the fence. I was close enough for that one to hit it with my EB. TBH it was after this I realized I hadn't ever reset the darn thing from the last time I had done it 2 years ago and pooped out so I didn't make it any farther :P This was on elite btw.

Thanks for taking the time to answer.

In general, the game changed the targeting of objects.

I must be less than 50' away from an object to target it. That's true for things like chairs, crates, and Destroyer Retribution Devices.

I just resubbed after being away for over 2 years. I come back and start slow, working on the mission: Resistance.

Whoever was in charge of balancing that content, should be fired, period.

This mission takes 3-4+ hours, especially if your new / returning and never did this mission before. The issue I am having is that you get very little help from the NPC's all through out each phase of the mission, die repeatedly, and then once inside the prison, why in the frakn heck would you have a player spawn in front of a door that takes you back to your dimension?!!?!?!?!?

Not only does the mission not save correctly, you are FORCED to redo the entire frakn thing over once inside!! You can't go back and just do the end boss mission, why not?!?!?!

    POOR quest / level design

Very frustrating, NOT fun after wasting 3-4+ hours trying to complete this mission, only to have no way to deal with a boss and a beefed up minion with mini boss! What the frak where your level design person thinking?!?!

So in short, these repeatable missions, you really should do them in a group to blast through them apparently, but if you leave for any reason, you have to restart the entire mission again, even though your current mission log says you only need to boss. >.<

Unable to continue where I left off at is a major turn off from the game, it's just not "fun" to waste all that time and not be able to leave and continue on where I left off at, makes no sense at all.

My experience, having done it a fair number of times, is that once you free Dr. Destroyer and go to the area where you hop in and pilot a Destroid you can leave the mission at any point after that and come back to it right at that point. No need to redo the entire mission. I reentered the mission last weekend just at that point and had no problems.

Also, any time you finish any one segment of the mission you can reenter again at the point where you left off. Never had to restart it.

I concur with this. I think I've done Resistance maybe ten times now and left off and re-entered at several points. When I log back in I'm in front of the Harmon Labs entrance with the option to rejoin at the end of the last segment I completed.
Having said that, I've never left off in the middle of the jail part. I know the jail can be very frustrating, largely due to the disabling of travel powers and the need to KO the security bots, all of which means a lot more idle time, but it makes for variety in the game so I don't let it bother me.

You can still technically destroy the consoles from a distance...but that requires you being in a vehicle.
