    Okay.

It's still not going to increase the number of lockboxes I open. (5 per month, assuming there is nothing else I want to spend my 500 Zen on).

I will probably stay subscribed because I enjoy the freeform aspect of the game. I've never been one to spend a bunch of money for a chance to maybe get something that isn't completely useless to me.

The last lockbox I opened netted me a whopping 2 Drifter salvage. After I went and looked at how much of it stuff would cost me I immediately said "*censored* that."

If Cryptic really wants to maximize their profit, they should work on making the game worth playing without having to spend money on getting shineys.

It just makes sense. Make the game more fun and people will spend money on that stuff because they want it, not because it is needed to make the game fun.

I don't think any game developers are really paying attention to the long term effects of microtransaction based gameplay. In the long run, it shortens your game's lifespan because the developers fall into the trap of it being easier just to add a new lockbox than actually add any new content.

If I go to Vegas, I want there to be new things to do each time I go. I'm not going to spend all my time in the same casino just because they got a couple new slot machines.

    Just my 2 cents.

    *Snip*

I personally don't think anything in the lock boxes are really needed to make the game more fun. They offer neat things, but it doesn't gate progress or anything. I will be upset. . No, absolutely infuriated if they release a new power set and stick it inside a lock box.

My mind will explode. I will quit this game and never come back. I will do whatever it takes to remove every trace of Champions Online from my head, every last memory of it.

Though personally I think lock boxes are a hex and should be swapped out for more reliable things to purchase. . like game content. But I guess people actually spend tons of money on it, because lock boxes have been here, and they're still here.

But! +1 to the content of the OP.

I spent my vet reward on 5 lock boxes. I got a total of 125 mods. Most of them were rank 4 and I lost a good hunk of them in fusing. Woo. I could have purchased a costume set with that instead. How was this supposed to motivate me to buy boxes in the future? Giving me salvage and letting me buy things from past lock boxes at least gives me something. Something so it doesn't feel like these lock boxes are a big fat waste of my time and inventory space.

P.S. One of my friends opened the tank lockbox and got one of the best tanks -on the first box-. That's so awesome for him, but so bad too, knowing that this system is entirely luck based. I really am happy for him, he probably would have won a fortune if he was at a slot machine that very moment.

That's What Arcolf is saying. I think people would spend more money on lockboxes if they knew that not only do they have a chance for a specific item for that particular lockbox set, but they also get a built in guarantee that you can save for something else that you wanted from one of the previously ran lockboxes. If I could spend money on the game, and this were to be implemented, I'd definitely do so.
