I've been subscribed since June 25th. It took me that long to see what a train wreck this game is.
Canceled my sub a few minutes ago. I'll play out the rest of it, but afterward I will probably be on my way elsewhere or just quit gaming altogether. The latter is honestly more likely at this point.
When I started playing City of Heroes, it was in pretty rough shape, too. Some amazing things happened, and we ended up with a great game for several years. I don't kniw if I'm being too optimistic, but I keep hoping that the Champions Renaissance is on its way. Treated right, this game could be amazing.
If you ever get the itch to come back, be sure to say hi.

As I mentioned a couple times, I'm convinced the problem is Cryptic. They were running CoH into the ground too. It didn't get better until they sold the rights and NCSoft set up a dedicated studio to run the game. If Cryptic hadn't sold the rights, I'm pretty sure CoH would have been dead years before it actually was.
If the same thing doesn't happen here, there isn't much hope for the game. I'm pretty convinced that the only way this game will ever reach the potential it has is if Cryptic isn't involved anymore. If they stay in charge, I won't be at all surprised to see Champions, STO, and NW all close their doors within the next year or two.
I'm not being pessimistic, just realistic. You can't run a game the way Cryptic is running this one and expect it to succeed.
The final straw was finding out that the issue that was causing server crashes was apparently discovered and reported in beta, and never addressed. Apparently the person that found the exploit stopped doing it and it was just.....swept under the rug like it never happened.
The first sign of trouble was when I was still playing CoH and it was reported that Regeneration in CO was nerfed on launch day. It was a rather funny topic among those CoH players who remembered Cryptic nerfing Regen over there every couple weeks or so. "Oh, there's a problem with Energy Melee? Nerf Regen, that'll fix it!"...and the like.

For what its worth the regeneration nerf was (IMO) merited. Nothing quite like a power were you could pull multiple groups of mobs and walk away from the game with your character just standing there being pounded on...and come back later to find your health still at full. I retconned out of regen after that.

Oh, and agreed to your general commentary.
I wasn't commenting on whether the nerf was justified or not. I wasn't here to see it, so I wouldn't know.
I was just commenting on the fact that if you need to nerf something, the day the game goes live is the not the time to do it.
Your years of experience producing and releasing MMOs makes me believe you.
His opinion as an experience player DOES make me believe him. And he's right, Cryptic has a track record for not listening to any feedback. How can you not see this, when it happens almost like clockwork after nearly every patch we get that does anything more than give us new lockboxes. Even sadder, with all the problems- we can go back and look at the PTS where people said something was borked, and nothing was changed.
You take this into consideration, and couple it with the fact that Cryptic North has had ZERO communication with the playerbase, and, well- ask anyone playing TSW, WoW, GW2, SWtoR, or any other game what they would do if they saw no developer communication for over 6 months? They'd tell you it's piss-poor and they'd be looking for a new game.
We may be the '1%' statistic someone made up to justify our insignificance, be we are the only ones vocalizing opinions. Just because only a few have come forward to speak does not mean you don't listen to them.
Your years of experience producing and releasing MMOs makes me believe you.
Cryptic is proof that years of experience does not necessarily lead to any level of competence. Claws is just simply correct, regardless or experience or no, about that Regen nerf and about Cryptic in general.
Eight years of CoH with my wife and son, seeing the near-miss of Jack and Cryptic almost face-planting the game thorough baffling choices and ignoring the forums before Matt and Paragon took over and made CoH legendary by judiciously listening to the forums, and now almost a year being totally ignored on Champions...

Would have better impact if you where Caliga or summing. Looking forward to the day he leaves
Just jkn C man wipe your tears :P
Nepht and Dr Deflecto on primus
They all thought I was out of the game....But I'm holding all the lockboxes now..
I'll......FOAM FINGER YOUR BACK!

My guess is it's a leftover from the Occupy protests.
Speaking of which, why don't we see anymore of that? The corruption hasn't gone anywhere. People are still destitute and poor because of it. Bah, it only highlights how the majority eventually settles for mediocrity after they're distracted by a new shiny.

And you are...? No really, I honestly have no clue who you are, never met you that I can recall.
Anyways, if you're truly leaving, can I have your stuff?
(as a matter of practice, if I see people making self-centered rage-quit topics I have to ask. Because you're not REALLY quitting unless you're willing to give your stuff away)
Another Fatal Err0r casualty.
Man if you call that a casualty, what the hell do you call On Alert's release, or the botched initial launch of this game (before F2P)?
I mean I've been around long enough I've seen definite improvement. Lots of issues too (where do I even begin lol), but lots of good things too.
So... Meh...
Oh and again, because I have to, can I have your stuff?
Is there even anything in this game worth giving away?
Yes. Duh.
First give me all the mods you've accumulated then all the nice shiney things like costume unlocks and Legion gear that I can resell. Then I can use those resources to buy things I want that I don't have yet. And if it's value is low? I'll just give them away to newbies I see, make them feel wanted in the game.
Seems kind of a waste to just sit on all that loot if you aren't gonna use it, ya know? Give it to somebody else who enjoys the game, doesn't have to be me, I just was brazen enough to ask first.
*shrug*
More importantly, I find these kinds off ragequit announcement topics in ALL game forums, and it's cliche enough to me by now that I really could careless about the nature of the topic.
No, I don't want people to leave.
Yes, I want Cryptic to get their act together already and get this game to flourish again.
But do I care about some guy I've never met leaving? Sorry, no, but I'd love to have the stuff he's just wasting/trashing, or give it to somebody new to the game who'd be thankful to have it. Not the first time I've given things away to newbies, nice things too if the person seems genuinely interested in the game and is sticking around.
The only exit topic I've seen that actually made me sad was the AngleofCaine one, because he didn't leave by choice or to get attention, he literally died. That is sad. This guy, from what I've seen, just wants attention... like all the rest of the people make self-centered "I'M RAGEQUITTING THIS STUPID GAME GRR!" types of topics...
When I left Battlefield Heroes in frustration (due to the insanely rampant issues with hackers and lack of content) did I make an announcement on the forums? Hell no. Just enjoyed playing Minecraft, and when friends were like "Dude where'd ya go? I told them I left." I quite honestly don't see the point in making a ragequit scene about leaving a game other than an attempt to draw attention to yourself.
In the words of DemonKey, "Just do it already and save us the pain of your excruciating monologue!"
You may have only been around a month, but if I started after On Alert I wouldn't have gone lifetime or even bothered trying to subscribe. If it wasn't for Aftershock I wouldn't have even considered putting money into this game. I was convinced that content in the form of comics was going to be added every 6 months. 2011 was VERY promising.
Thanks for being a prime example of new players seeing, trying and realizing that its not a game worth sticking with. And for being right to the point.

Pop back in later if ya want. We'll still be here, waving out fists at each other like old people telling youngsters to get off our powersets.
Deliciously nutritious!

Consolidate the currencies! (Please!)
Does your Champion have a theme song? (share it!)
Got a funny in-game screenshot? (share it!)
Please fix the Overdrive energy unlock! (Should help promote thematic build diversity!)

I'd say costume parts but half of the time the ones people want are already used up.

Seriously, man. Check your ego.
Right back at you.

Seconded, and since I too am a Very Important Man, I will use my not inconsiderable innate power to third this as well.

Your point was that you didn't know who the OP was and that you are trying to trivialize his logical departure from this mess.
Your definition of "rage quit" is lacking.
