So Cryptic, will we be getting the Red Winter/Flag Speed event next week for the fourth?

    I'm down with this idea. Hopefully we won't be revisited by the same stupid "country X deserves a flag-based travel power because country Y got one" arguments like last year.

    I do hope this becomes a yearly thing. I'll be extremely disappointed if this doesn't come back.

    I agree, the flag power should give options for at least the major countries that have access to the game (if not all). But I think that for the one given out during the 4th of July, it SHOULD be a US flag, since Independence Day is an American Holiday. But the option should be there, some of the other flag colors would look cool as speed trailers.

    Most countries have some national day of celebration, even if it's not celebrating the "casting off of the colonial yoke," and they mostly fall on different days. It should be an easy enough thing to turn on and off on the appropriate days, as well as rotating in the appropriate flags.

    However, there are a lot of things that "should be easy enough" to do...

    Re-skin an ooze travel power to turn you into a pile of maple leaves or maple syrup. Or a ninja vanish re-skin where you throw the smoke bomb, get surrounded by a swirl of maple leaves but don't actually turn invisible, but still get ignored by mobs in the meantime...cause who pays attention to Canada, right?

    Oh boy! Yes! I love this idea!

    We should do this every year, and with even more and different items, like capes, auras, masks, and stuff in a rotation! :D

    I'm not sure about capes. I've done a couple of characters with a maple leaf on the cape, but, as a veteran, I'm not sure how I would feel about someone running around wearing my country's flag as a cape. The rest could be cool, but auras are finicky things.

    Well, we couldn't have 7/4 without a cool event, eh? :biggrin:

    We won't have anything new that's themed around the fourth of July, but we will have the same event running. I don't have the start/end dates yet, but definitely prepare to unleash liberty!

    Nice Idea but PLZ No for Japanese Flag, this has possibility of making trouble with people of neighboring countries. :(
    I love my nation but I don't want to see any politic trouble with anyone in CO.
    Japan is trouble making some nowadays. We have huge political gap even in same country. And that's the reason I don't do Japanese MMO.

    Dude, most of us would be cool with any flag, with the exception of like a Swastika. So, don't sweat that.

    Also, +1 vote for 'Don't Tread On Me' flag so I can be labeled a 'Right Wing Extremist' in game as well. Apparently, this is a thing.

    Flags are a bad idea.

    Fireworks speed/flight/teleport/super jump is so obvious.
    Fireworks are loved by all and generally represent festivities
    Virtual fireworks provide a safe alternative to the forest fire causing physical thing.
    Fireworks effects for the fourth will save lives.

    It's never stopped Cryptic before.

    The previous cryptc devs used this thing some of us called "Calendar".

    It even had dates on it and **** on it for people to tell time!

    If the current staff is not familiar with this principle, have them consult appropriate in house counterparts working on the other games to familiarize themselves with this new and innovative concept!

    This is not possible, considering the number of countries we would have a celebration each week. And assuming each country has only 1 day, in my country as example we have 2.

    Maybe adding Canada which has a full zone, but not the others no.

    Each day would be a celebration day for each independence day for each country. That would be a nightmare to code and organize... :3

    Not all countries have an Independence Day, because, in order to have one, you had to gain your independence from someone, so some countries have that day to recall fondly when they had a whole other territory under their control. :biggrin:

    And, McDonald's Girl, I never said it was a perfect, or even well thought out, plan.

    We do get some during the Anniversary Celebration so it is possible, right?

    Also wouldn't mind a flag flight where you'e carrying the flg (like Chris Reeve in Donner's Superman).

    I actually would like to see a Flag Flight in the future (like Flag Speed, only flying); it'd suit a concept I have for a superannuated WWII hero.

    But I wish there'd been a Maple Leaf Speed when I made Piqsirpoq, and if one ever comes into existence I'll retcon his TP from Ice Slide.

    That would be pretty sweet. I'd love to see it for Super Jump, Flight, and Acrobatics.

    Maybe a fireworks explosion teleport, too. Like when you fully charge Flag Speed, that fireworks explosion that comes out. Would be pretty funny. :P

    Or have the first six notes of the Star Spangled Banner play, like the music tag launching Heroic Flight. :)
