What would you rank Perfect World's games?

iceih03iceih03 Posts: 205 Arc User
A few days ago I received a mail from PW with the subject "What would you rank Perfect World's games?" but in the inside the question is totally different, it asked:

"Thank you for your support! We'd love to hear what you think. Answer the question below and tell us how you feel about Perfect World and its games.

1. How likely are you to recommend Perfect World to a friend?
10 (extremely likely) 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1 (not at all likely)"

Now my question is why would I recommend a Publisher to a friend? I have recommended CO a lot of times to friends who I know they like Superheroes and in a few cases just because of the free-form system. I have also recommended STO to friends that are ST fans, in the same way I have recommended SWG to SW fans, but I would never recommend a Publisher just because of the Publisher, whats the point on recommending PW to a SW fan?

What is PW expecting to be answered in the survey? am I misunderstanding the question?

No clue. I rated them at a 2 in the hopes that it'd send the message that they need to get on the ball with how they run their games. Though, it's really just Cryptic that needs to quit fumbling everything, as far as I'm aware... And Champions is the only game I actually play, the others I merely know about by ear.

So, basically, poorly-thought-out e-mail that will do little to no good.
Dasher@Tool-box, donning his armor to prance into battle and blitz the enemy! No joke!
Cupid@Tool-box, stunningly radiant stag ready to play matchmaker between villain and arrow!
Vixon@Tool-box, frighteningly eager to summon despair for his adversaries!
Jebin Zedalu@Tool-box, elementalist weaponmaster. ...One of these things is not like the others!

If you vote low they don't consider you their target demographic (gullible) and won't bother sending you emails to purchase their founder packs and play their other games.

They need to send emails of what you would rate each individual game you play.

Had such mail received but deleted it without responding. Rating high would be like telling them that I like what is done to this game, and rating it low would be like telling them that I don't like CO.
    Neither is true.

I'm really not interested in other Cryptic or PWE games. STO can be fun with KDF but I can't see myself sticking to ST game. As for NW, I really don't care about it except for the Foundry and only the Foundry.
If CO had such toolset I wouldn't even bother with bastardized 4th ed Forgotten Realms.

Well only Co caught my interest thus far. Not into sci/fi or fantasy games. Think out in the entire span of my life from 5 to now (over 2 decades) I only found one fantasy game itneresting (fable 2). Sci/fi none thta i tried, each got too much in dept with the sci fi stuff and background I didnt care nor was interested in and thus killed the interest of the game to me.

CO- hmm how would I rate it.

See for me, for my enjoyment I would rate it a 8.

But how likely I would recommend it to a friend? With the bugs that havent been fixed in years, lack of communication of what is going on, and so far basically lockboxes and temp events being added until recent about telepathy power, one low level path, it wouldnt be high. Probably a 3.5. Those issues make it a hard sell to give to friends even though I like CO and enjoy playing but convincing a new player..."Hey this game is fun but you have one low level path you take, there are bugs which dont seem to be on the agenda to be fixed, tech support is very spotty, there havent been new permanent content added in ages, and if you like vehicles and lockboxes that would be a plus, but if you dont, well that is about all that is currently new right now. But it's a fun game." Yeah, they'll give me the awkward eye and stay in the game that they are at. And those that been through a shutdown probably will be hesitatant even though it has been stated no intentions of shut down reported, as one said, "Of course, there is never stated intentions of a shut down until it's decided and about to happen. Why do you think most of the people that work for game companies outside that decision room is always caught off guard when a shutdown does happen?"

I gave em a solid 4, because the game is somehow fun in spite of their best efforts to make this not the case. Granted, most of my fun involves conga lines and dressing up like a psychotic bondage clown and mistelling disturbing erp in zone, but still.

I gave em a solid 4, because the game

But the em here isn't Cryptic, it's Perfect World, who's the publisher. They're not asking about recommending a game, but recommending a publisher, so presumably a whole stable of games from their different studios.

It ranks pretty high up there for "stupid survey questions," IMO.

No. I would not recomend Perfect World to a friend. I hadn't even heard about PW prior dealings with Cryptic. I have no interest to them or their games. Whole email questionaire was dubious.
I do like Cryptic and their games.

Well, I goofed by giving them a 10, but I feel they took advantage of me by sending me that email right after I had been playing Neverwinter for 6 hours straight.

I do think it's a weird question in that it isn't aligned with the email's subject line.

The reason I say I goofed is because PWE and Cryptic were supposed to make Champions Online THE destination for virtual super heroes. They bragged about outdoing City of Heroes and even got in hot water for shilling for Champs on CoH's servers. Needless to say, they were confident about CO leading up to its launch! Well I came here the night that COH went dark and I'll be unsubscribing from CO in a few days. My reasons? Nothing you haven't heard before, on a daily and hourly basis, by reading these forums.

Also, I think Neverwinter goofed bigtime with the static camera. If I had a dollar for everyone I've heard say the locked camera killed the game for them, I'd have a wad of cash. Now, this being my chief complaint, I am stomaching it and still playing the game. And actually I'm kind of laughing at myself, because I remember playing games like Ultima Online and thinking how cool it would be if I could just swivel the camera around. Well now I got exactly what I wanted out of a "top down" RPG, and all I'm doing is complaining about it! (In my defense, I imagined the obstacles and roofs disappearing instead of "ghosting" or obstructing my view completely!)

Interestingly, you can zoom in with UO's Stygian Abyss client now, and how old is that game?

I gave them the ratings I feel they deserved.

It is not necessary to chest-pound and proclaim the rating given. We post every day.

Meh, I deleted the e-mail right away. But then I got 2 emails about my cancelled subscription.

    1st e-mail.

"you've cancelled your sub! We are sorry to see you go. RESUB NOW!!!"

    2nd e-mail

"Y-y-you gonna resub right? plz. No...? :frown:"

Most of PWI's selection is garbage.

STO and CO are actually the best they have to offer at the moment. I haven't played Neverwinter, so I don't know how that is honestly, and thusly reserve my judgment on it.

Most of the games they have stack up to no higher than 3.
Some get to a whopping 5.
    Very few get above that.

I got something similar from Origin, as well as Aeria Games. I wonder if they pool these numbers for some kind of marketing statement 'proof.'

'X is the most recommended online-game-store in X!' or '4 out of 5 users would highly recommend X to their friends!'
    ...Since 2009.

STO and CO are still the only thing worth mentioning in the PWE library. NWO has too much heavy influence from PW and puts it in line with their junk.

I'm not even gonna lie, PW has a better standing than most other free to play publishers out there on the market as far as customer concern goes. You guys may not feel to great about them, but understand from my point of view....there are far....far...faaaaaaaaaaar worse publishers out there, and even worse in handling their customers.

If I had to recommend a PW game to a friend, I would recommend one of their games over say, Nexon, or Gpotatoe, or Aeria, by far. But the thing is, since PW made an alliance with the Steam community they've been pretty good on their end.

Now as far as their own Chinese developed games.....nah, I wouldn't recommend those except for maybe forsaken world, and that only passes because its a wow clone. The rest of those asian games can jump a cliff because alot of players have deep seeded hatred toward that style of grindcore dump 30 hours for 1 level type of garbage. <
That style died in 09, may it never return.

That being said, the games they've acquired from other developers have been pretty good.
But at the same time, those games are good enough on their own merit to where they don't even need a publishers stamp.

    Torchlight
    Rusty Hearts
    Star Trek
    Champions
RaiderZ is korean, and it had potential until the dumb developers decided to let bugs pass that pretty much completely ruined the game from ever being taken seriously. But, thats kind of been the trend with most korean devs, rush the product, make it look fancy, never patch exploits, gold bots run the server. I still have no idea why we even give that region so much acclaim when they all run the same gambit. You don't see japanese or chinese development teams slip that far, hell even the chinese teams will invent something in game to circumvent the exploit so that you don't even have the will to bot or whatever because its an option in the game. Japanese coders will mostly just hardlock the hell out of any exploit to where if you have even the slightest whim open in your background the game closes. American and European developers even have higher standards than that.

I think the only thing keeping PW ahead of other publishers in the market place is the fact that they have a hardline with their own chinese branch of developers, even though their games are stuck in the stoneage as far as playstyle goes, their team in Beijing has managed to at least circumvent the common failures of newer titles in the market. And the fact that they obtain games developed in regions and by teams that have better standards than the common korean clone fest. RaiderZ was a fail, and its gonna take a while to recover from that debacle, they lost hella players from that title but still managed to attract those players to their other games, kudos.

If I was to give them any advice right now, from an industry standpoint, stop buying sketchy korean titles....and don't act like you don't know what I'm talking about, cause I know you've had this conversation before if not in a meeting than with yourself. If you guys wanted a grade A action mmo, thats probably the last place you wanna go looking for one because when the genre became marketable all these random dev teams with crap for credibility start popping up offering their "best game ever". I know yall know what I'm talking about it happens every summer by the end of the E3 season.
If its sketchy, and if their previous titles were sketchy, leave that stuff alone, its like hiring an ex convict to work at a casino cash window....dunno what you guys expect.
You have a team in beijing and you guys are still sitting on old playstyles from back in 2007, make your own pretty action mmo to add to your other "journey to the west" titles.
Or do something crazy and launch a revamp of Ether Saga "Now with physics! And Action!"

But yeah guys be happy PWE even answers their support tickets. Not gonna name any names, but a certain company is known for not answering a support ticket for up to 3 years.

If it was up to that company to answer their own tickets instead of having them sent directly to their overlord company to hound on them when they fail their customers, that company would never fix any of their issues and just steamroll ahead.

i guess the problem is how general the question is. pwi has 14 or so games, i'd recommend some to freinds, id recommend against others, and id have no frame of reference whatsoever for the majority of them really. ask me about co, because i play that one. just asking for a blanket statement about a roster with some good and some bad games in it, I dont even know how id begin to answer that.

CO is really good and needs content, torchlight 2 is really good, neverwinter was like a boring version of TERA hows that?
