The Final Insult

Today I decided it was time to give CO another shot. I know half of the instances are full of bugs. I know the game is on life support. I know its not being given much attention and what little content HAS been added in the last two years essentially wrecked any semblance of balance. Still, its the only game of its kind that I've really enjoyed. I wanted to like CoH but the controls and UI were utterly broken. DCU has all the depth of a bird bath and less character customization than a Barbie doll despite its high production value. Yes, I could play CO for free but I'd rather have access to everything (well, "everything" amounting to what little golds have now vs silvers). So I go to reactivate my sub. And what do I keep getting? "Error updating subscription". All my info is 100% current, no question about it, but FF and IE both give me the same error. So I click on the handy "contact us" link in the account section. And I get this: "The page isn't redirecting properly. Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete." IE is even worse - it just sits and does nothing. Typical IE behavior, really.

So I guess that's it. Not only does PW/Cryptic no longer care about the game, they don't even care about its website - at least the part that handles subscriptions and support. I guess it really IS all about the cash store now. And to that I say, "up yours PW and Cryptic." You've blown it for the last time as far as this former player is concerned.

I often have problems with the CO site while using Chrome as well as FF and IE. Six times out of ten I can load the pages with no issue but that non-responsive forty percent just boggles my mind. I always try going to odd sites I've never been to before when the CO site starts acting up and every single time those other ones load up completely AND do so faster than the CO site ever has.

I half expect the GoDaddy message to pop up again when it gets really bad.

Did you try again at a different time? Could be they were doing maintenance or some other temporary glitch.

Or, did you just run straight here to be a drama llama?

As they say, if you don't have anything constructive to say, do remain silent.

Perfect World has some kind of major underlying issue with redirects, with users apparently suffering IP-based redirects. Yes, suffering. For example, the first time I click any link on here that has anythiung to do with logins, I will suffer a redirect to a de.perfectworld.eu domain, the fact that German CO pages under the .eu domain do not exist be damned.

Don't bother trying to contact CS about it; as a "fix", they'll blame your browser even after they've acknowledge that there is, in fact, some underlying redirects issue.

On the bright side, hitting browser back and re-clicking links normally circumvents redirects, unless of course you're trying to contact customer support.

Apparently, the thing most likely to solve your problems is having a US IP address; if you do have one, it would suggest they finally managed to completely break whatever code is behind the insufferable redirect bullcrap to behave not just erratically, but completely randomly.

That's what happened when my subcription mysteriously ended, i contact them about the issue, they say it's my card providers fault, not theirs, even when they were alrwaedy having similar issues.

Yeah, try the email Chaelk posted. It goes directly to support. That's the only advice I can offer.

Adding nothing to the discussion AND begging for items? *clap clap clap*

    Pathetic.

OP, wait a while and try again, the servers have been unstable as of lately. Maybe one of the new interns tripped on the server cables again. Nevertheless, chaelk posted that email - maybe you can send them an email, i'm pretty sure they'll help you out since its subscription issues and they'll help those top priority.

That is, if you even feel like trying. Cant blame you if you CBA.

Yeah .. have the same problem. The link for "Home" shows me on mouseover
    http://co.perfectworld.com/

    but its redirected to
    http://co.de.perfectworld.eu/
    and that address doesn't exist

Also the forum login has problem since a while. Long time i only needed to click on "my account" and was logged in and redirected to the last page. Now the first time i'm redirected to another login page, if i then click "my account" again im finally logged in but redirected to the dev-tracker.

I know it ain't exactly a GOOD solution to your issues, but you may want to take a look at the game again in a few months to see if the new Dev. Team we just got is living up to their potential and getting the game polished and some of these d#&n bugs fixed at last.
    It COULD happen.

There's nothing to "add to the discussion" but jokes, aurin. "I feel neglected by you, so I quit!" Where does a "discussion" go from there?

Sorry about your sense of humor, though. Hope it gets better soon!

I have a friend this is also happening to, who's trying to help another friend out with their sub. Hey cryptic, y u no take our money? We never had this problem before the pwe integration. I funded like 10 accounts at once for almost a year, for random friends.

I did say something constructive, you just chose to quote the snark and leave it out so that you could put in some snark of your own. Snark breeds snark, I guess.

But, you were right for calling me on that part of my post. It wasn't thoughtful or called for in this situation. My apologies to the OP.

And as for you, thearkady, as for you . . .

Thanks for the good information.

OP seems to have genuine browser problem. I've seen others provide constructive advice. You on the other hand decided to make fun of the OP at their expense so you can have your little ha-ha just because you have an intolerance issue for the slightest show of negativity.

Nothing added to the discussion? I concur.

Seems more like a problem of using the "wrong" language in our windows settings .. since the redirection to http://co.de.perfectworld.eu/ is clearly a function that detects German as Language and then redirects to the not existing German version of the page
