What new archetypes/powersets would you like to see?

I'm curious as to know what kind of new archetypes the players would like to see.

If you have an idea for an archetype or powerset that does not currently exist in game, please post your ideas in this thread.

As for me, these are the two I want to see next:

Plants (controlling plant movement and growing plants out of the ground).
Water (using water as a weapon, creating water).

And please don't do what so many other posters have done, which is derail the thread by saying "no more archetypes until they fix this powerset or that archetype" or "you can simulate this powerset by using these powers".

That is not constructive.

I want to know about what is/will be new, not what is old.

Me, the power sets I'd like are:

    1. a Martial Arts Fighting Staff set.

    2. a fully fleshed out Single Pistol set in munitions. (so far we just have an energy builder. Needs a good 50 ft single target, aoe, and spike)

    3. a non-random effects laser pistol set in gadgeteering. (currently we just have the experimental blasters and with the single target, the teddy bear effect while fun at first gets kind of old and makes it difficult to put together a beamslinger. And is missing an energy builder to do the set.)

    4. a fully fleshed out Sonic Blaster set in Gadgeteering. (so far we just have the energy builder and the 100ft AoE. We're missing a solid single target Sonic Blaster)

    5. a fleshed out particle rifle set also in gadgeteering (all we've currently got is an Energy Builder and a 100 ft single target maintain. its missing an AoE and a spike power)

I want to see Crtyptic trying to desing an offensive archetype combining ranged and melee attacks, with an offensive passive. It might have the finally realize that maybe, just maybe, in a very be the hero you want to be way, at the very ****in' least they need to make Quarry scale of PSS rather than INT.

Sure. Because that one is SOOOOOOOOO flexible in what builds/powers it supports well.

With the new telepathy powerset, I would like to see a hybrid, control-based telepath AT. The mind is a mix of group-shield, healing, control--meh.

I also would like to see a summoner/pets AT, maybe with minions like the CoH Mastermind, or a magic-based Summoner. It could have a passive that specifically helps pets, like the commander spec.

I 2nd the adding to the gadget powers. The powers I would like to see is Sonic like Banshee from Marvel comics, I'm sure there is probly a DC comics hero that has sonic powers that doesnt come from a device but i dont know the name's, and the other powers arent really new set's I would like to see Melee powers added to existing set like force, fire, electricity you could make a eletricity guy named defibrillator who use's his powers through touch and other such powers.

I've said this before, but I'd like to see them flesh out and fill in the frameworks they already have before adding new ones. For example, I'd like to see some electric melee attacks, an electric-based defensive slotted passive, offensive and defensive electric toggles, electric support (healing, buffs, debuffs, etc), electric mez (more than just the one), and even some electric pets to fill in the gaps in the existing Electric powerset.

If I want an all-electric character (and I do!), I don't like being forced to go outside the Electric framework for defensive powers and heals. It gives my character a mish-mash of unrelated frameworks rather than a single consistent theme, and I'd rather have the consistent theme.

And that's why I like villains.

I would like to see a elemental Melee set. Something similar to that Avatar animated series how they bend fire, water, earth, wind, etc., but more martial arts styled. Most importantly, I just want to see NEW animations more than anything. Getting tired of the same old animations to all the powers, with the only differences are special fx.

I'd like to see the melee tree for Power Armor fleshed out a bit. Something that parallels Single Blade with exploits for Plasma Burn, similar to Bleeds.

I understand that this is mostly aesthetics, but that is something this game is big on.

I would also like to see some kind of hard nuke power in the Sorcery tree. It doesn't have to outclass everything, but something to fill in that role instead of players branching into Elements to pick up any real attack power.

Stealth is an interesting mechanic. I'd like to think that Sorcery would have an invisibility power.

Alternative skins for the Gadgeteering pets might be a worthwhile investment. One people might even be willing to drop some Z's on.

There's definitely room for improvement in the PA laser sword abilities. You can already exploit the burns with plasma cutter, but compared to, say, ego blades, it's definitely lacking a bit. One thing I'd like to see is a way to refresh stacks of plasma burn -- as it is, they typically fall off before you reach a full stack (which I THINK is 8), which hurts the burn exploit from cutter. It could probably use more than one AOE attack as well (especially since the one AOE it has is a charge). On top of that, it'd be nice to have some costume options for the laser sword -- as it is, you're stuck with one look, and limited by power coloration for the blade.

Yeah. Sorcery has a few powers that have some damage potential, but kind of fall short overall. A decent nuke would be awesome.

    Fighting Staff, probably in MA.

The animations already sort of exist in the code.

Also, some of the Fighting Claws animations that exist in the code turned into actual powers.

I don't think that's a realistic way to do it.

Shapechanging means physically altering the shape of your body or parts of it to something else.

Turn your arm into a sword blade for hack and slash.

Change your appearance to look like the enemy for sneaking around or just surprise attacks.

Turning into liquid blobs as a travel power.

    And so on.

I remember discussing something like this with an old friend of mine who sadly quit CO and returned to Second Life. No idea why. BUT ANYWAY!

-Plant powerset, how this would work out is that it could create possibly a sort of sentry and revolve around rooting/poisoning/DoT/HoT. Mainly a support but could have the capability to deal some decent damage.

-Time powerset. How I imagine this working out is almost pure buff/debuff. Like have some sort of aura that grants you + your allies a buff on power cooldown, but also capable of dealing stuns in the shape of slowing down time in a certain area, even stopping it for a short time.

Time Powerset is actually quite viable, and no I don't mean by spamming certain powers to cause a "time stop" effect

Despair Bombs in Aftershock and Demonflame are mass debuffs which are insanely cool, it slows down ALL action on screen for a time, sometimes I just go there for the effect xD

    So yes:

    - Time Control
    - Telepathy (After a real Crowd Control Pass to make the mechanic viable again.)
    - Plant Control
    - Dual Elemental AT (FireIce and EarthAir etc) <--We already have Rimefire Burst which could hint at a possible colaboration between elements of fire and ice AT wise.
    - A hybrid Force AT with focus on supporting team members.
    - Ranged Telekinetics

I say Telepathy cause Mind AT is alright...but uses AoRP...which is not really that in-theme for a telepath.

This, but I'd like to see them take it to the next level and give Laser Sword it's own framework. PA is packed with powers as is. It wouldn't take but a few more Laser Sword powers to get the job done.

Other than that plants and water.

-A true speedster powerset. Not unarmed MA, actual moving superhumanly fast stuff. That'd be awesome.

-Charge component added to lunges, to give them options for more of a sting. Either have it up the damage, or the crowd control effect, or both. More options in general for keeping people from just running away from your melee attacks would be nice.

-Overhaul all forms of sorcery. It needs doing. Right now there's a small handful of powers within it that are any useful.

A couple AoE attacks for Fighting Claws.

Just so I don't have to go outside the framework to get any kind of AoE.

A single cone and a single spherical AoE would be enough.

And it's not really a powers suggestion, but we could use a few costume options that aren't hand-held blades for those Fighting Claws users that aren't ninjas.

A thought I had would be to convert Rend and Tear into a 120 degree cone power like most other melee frameworks have pretty early. If I recall correctly, you wouldn't even have to change the animation.

Seriously, it would give people a reason to actually take the power. Since Dragon's Claws does everything Rend and Tear does, but does it better. There is literally zero reason to take 2 single target knockdown powers when one of them has an advantage like Rush and +50% critical severity, on top of doing more base damage to begin with.

Turn Rend and Tear into a cone and it won't be the completely ignore power in FIghting Claws anymore.

I think a Nunchaku set would fit in nicely if Fighting Staff is too much of an animation challenge. Hell, most Nunchuck moves could be done with existing animations from Dual Blades.

Eye of the Storm especially. Also, for the lunge..How cool would it be to dash at the target and end with a rapidly spinning nunchaku thrust? Just one hand of course, whirling it like a propeller.

    I Agree with Temporal powers,
I'd also like to see teleportation have a more active combat role
so far you only have it as a travel power or the "teleport to your enemy" charge.
I would like combat based teleports such as warping several times around your target(s) hitting them, or teleporting your enemies in the air so they fall.
A buff like a dimensional phase (or the D&D's Blink) were your out-of-sink causing you to gain resistance to certain things.
I love heroes like Night-crawler but teleportation in combat is so limited in champions it is not a viable theme.
If you are going to have temporal powers mine as well have "time and space" powers (DC Universe Anyone?).

1)- Water - Generation, Manipulation and Mimicry (becoming Water: at least one Water Form, intangible, unsubstantial, and a water-puddle Travel Power akin to Ooze Tunneling). I'll leave these here: WaterMimicry1 / WaterMimicry2
Tons of possibilities for a set like this. Inspired by the "Telepathy mini-set" that was recently released, I can see Water as a sub-set of sorts synergizing with Ice - if a full set was not possible.

2)- Plants - Growing, Control... the whole shebang.
I would like to see this expanded into a more general "Nature" set, with Plants, obviously, but also some Shapeshifting (wild animals) and maybe a couple summons and heals as well, within this more a "Druidic" kind of theme, I feel there'd be more potential to it.

    3)-
I would like to see a telekinesis set that does not involve psi weaponry animation. Or at the very least the option to turn off certain power animations and auras to help fit an individual's particular theme.

This. The whole blade thing, I had to pass. Even ranged powers (such as Telekinetic Assault and Telekinetic Burst) have some of that in the FX. Not hating, new powers = good! But that much more variety in the FX would be incredibly helpful in terms of concept/theme.

Also, a TK Force Field, namely: Reflective Psionic Shield <3
There, we kinda have it already. Protection + damage reflected, at the cost of movement/using other powers. And I happen to love the FX/animation, that is cohesive with Ego Hold's field. Could maaaybe possibly work as a Block power, alternative to Telekinetic Shield (and Reflecting Damage as an Advantage)? Dunno...

And while we're on the subject, Ego Blast-type poses/animations (fingers to temples etc). Not nearly enough of that in the entire Mentalist set. Emanation Points are great and all but... at least a couple other of these powers could look a bit more theme-specific, is all I'm saying.:smile:

I'd like to see a "big pet" class, where a robot (or crawling or flying turret maybe) accompanies you, and your powers enhance it.

The powers could be slot-based like Power Armor, except the slots are on your pet and are somewhat more long-term. Meanwhile you could act independently using powers from other sets, though running pet powers either costs energy or slows your non-pet recharge times to keep things balanced.

This is even more involved, but perhaps a mounted combat/beast rider type. Some pounce/bite/claw/hoof attacks, and some which you exexcute from the saddle.
