As a refugee of the cancelled City of Heroes trying to make my way in Champions Online, I have to ask when we can expect new power sets? I am used to having more types of powers available for my alt-itis. While I am very happy with the power sets that are available in CO I am still missing water, sonic, radiation, plant, gravity, shield, staff, street fighting, spines, kinetics & time powers. Do we have an ETA on any new powers?
Also what is the deal with all the lock box content? I feel horrible having spent Zen on those things as I never get a good prize. All the vehicle mods in the world have little meaning if you don't have a vehicle to mod them on and spending zen on it leaves me feeling like a weekend in vegas without the fun parts, just the losing your money.

Well, I think it's because any time you bring new powers in, there's an attempt to balance them with everything else, because if they don't people will complain.
Also, a lot of those powersets you mentioned from CoH weren't in the launch, or even part of it after CoV was added. They were added many years later, and this game is only on it's 4th year.
Sure, I'd love to see all those powersets from CoH added in, but people have short attention spans: If they gave us 5 new powersets today, 3 months down the road we'd be demanding MOAR powersets. I'd also like to see costume change animations, new emotes, new costume sets, and a whole slew of new things. I'm willing to be patient, and hope they come through.

Freeform does help with some character concepts but one thing that bothers me is all the sea creature costume parts and no water based powers in the game. I want to make my lost Atlantean character with water based abilities but I can't in this game.
Actually the cool thing about a water based power set is that if you can change its color you can pretty much make it into control of any liquid, be it blood, cool aid or coffee. That makes for some great character creation and that is pretty much my favorite part of any superhero game, creating new characters and then taking them out for a spin to see how they do in game. I probably have 3-4 costumes for each of my characters too as I come up with new concepts for their looks. I only have 15 or so characters so far in CO but in other games I have had upward of 70 heroes as the permutations of power selections fed that need to create characters.

You say that like they're regularly adding anything of substance to this game.
well, we did get 2 new power frameworks in co in 20212, wind and stone, so it s not impossible once they release neverwinter. I tend to lobby for plant powers. they have comics precedent, plant control/nature affinity were really good in coh and fipping them off mercilessly could bring some new buff/debuff fun into co.
I'd like them all but I miss having water powers. In CoH i always had to purchase any new powers that came out because, why wouldn't you? They always had a mix of those that were free to subscribers and some that you had to purchase which I was okay with as, hey, it was new powers!
I am still grinding questionite to get all the travel powers from the Q store. I have most of the travel powers from the recognition vendors and most of the ones from the Z store as well. I even have unlimited magnifier and shrinker on the toons that it makes sense on those characters. For me the game is 70% powers and costumes and the rest of it is testing out how fun the characters are to play. But its the creation process that I like the most. Building up the characters is fun too but gameplay is repetitive when making new characters even if you aren't running alerts. It was similar in CoH only, being an older game, it seemed to have more content in terms of missions available at each level.
I finally got a grav bike from a lock box so I guess I am done with those! Don't need more than one character than can run the races...

Actually the cool thing about a water based power set is that if you can change its color you can pretty much make it into control of any liquid, be it blood, cool aid or coffee. You've gotta allow them time to work on other things.....(cynical look) like short term events with more lockboxes.
