Power armor an energy attacks

Hi all, I've been a big fan of power armor since I started playing this game ages ago, and I've toyed around with some builds (especially the excellent ones by pulsewave) Though I've noticed that the builds I try invariably end up being mostly ballistics based. It got me eager to try a power armor variant that focuses on just the energy attacks. I was wondering if anyone has had any luck using an energy weapons based power armor build. I know for aoe that we have only very narrow attack options which aren't good for groups that are spread out. So I am alright with a decent aoe coming from another framework (no worries, it's not cheating :) )

Plasma Beam is the most versatile, but it's still pretty limited because it doesn't handle elevation well.

You can use Power Gauntlet or Eye Beams to pull mobs into a line, or just take a few steps back.

With fast combat travel power you can move quickly enough to get into good positions without having to pull.

I paired it with Energy Wave with Reverse Polarity. That bunches up the mobs, so that the beam hits more, but it's not really more effective unless there are teammates with aoe powers that can also benefit from it, especially when they are melee, and the mobs are ranged. It'll also get you killed if you aren't tough, or coordinating with a tank.

For a DPS role, you may want to look at electric form or Majesty form. Both give boosts to the particle damage attacks.

Thanks for the suggestions, guess I'm just a bit disappointed that there isn't a native power armor energy attack with a decent sized aoe. I'll knock together something and post it here as I had a ranged specialist in mind. I do enjoy plasma beam, though when dealing with variations in the terrain it can really make one mad to see their attack fly harmlessly past a mob.

They should have made the cooldown for Energy Wave about 3 seconds. That would solve quite a bit. A 100' chargeable aoe would be nice too, maybe with the same energy dots fx.

Quick Question...what is fueling FoTT? You dont seem to have any DEX to fuel FoTT...

Try combining PA/Force/Electric. Gigabolt is a nice power. I use it on my Bio Energy powered girl, I use it as a bioelectric style blast.

if you look at the specs...The Intelligence specs are actually fueling it by both increasing DEX and boosting its stated effects of Crit and Dodge..

I see..is it enough though? I've just never run a build without having one of the scaling stats..statted :p

yep. That plus a Gambler's in the offense slot and +crit chance gear later on and gaining stacks of Form of the Tempest shouldn't be an issue. Getting a high crit chance isn't really all that difficult if you gear and stat for it.

So true. Very easy to get crit chance. My radiation themed character has a very nice crit chance at the start of battle (Rec primary spec that increases crit at 90% or more energy and Avenger spec that increases crit at 90% or more enemy HP). Of course, by design, the character loses potency the longer the fight. Those two specs are all my crit chance increases.

Very fun looking build cyrone, heh as always with your builds. Though how do you keep from simply face planting should a stiff breeze pass through? I mean dodge/avoidance gear and such can take you only so far. Do you really get by on rebirth alone?

Photon Fury's damage cuts through most anything quickly. Having Con as a secondary helps me stay alive longer and Rush of Battle is nice to have paired with the higher HP. I usually cut through things too fast to even notice the lack of heals unless it's a boss fight with no tank.

    Edit:
As for dodge/avoid, I don't use it on Photon Fury. If I can't nuke it from the get go, I deserve to drop when my crit chance disappears.
