The Forum Malvanum custom alert has been added to the public test server, and to make sure that it's perfect when it goes to -Live, we're going to be having a playtest event on PTS for subscribers.

The playtest will start at 5:30 PM PDT on Monday, 5/20, and will run until 7PM. TrailTurtle will be livestreaming, and for every thirty people who show up, run the event and give feedback, he'll send out an Iris Irregular action figure to a random participant.

Can't wait to try the Forum Malvanum alert? Subscribers can copy over a character to PTS and give it a whirl right now.

Yay! 90 minute window for bugfixes! WOOO!

    IDFP.jpg

If you're going to put this stuff on the test server put it up and LEAVE it up so people can actually test it over a period of time (a few days). Instead of forcing people to try to fit into an idiotically narrow window.

Tiny windows like this are why things that "worked fine in test and during development" break so ridiculously when you go live. Like...HMM..PICK ANY OF NUMEROUS RECENT EXAMPLES.

Sorry if you're put off by the hostility. But if I was more subtle about what I was saying, you guys would probably miss it entirely.

Correct. The alert has been up and will remain so -- having a playtest event is just so that we get a whole bunch of people in and playing it at once. I like doing livestreams, so this is also a good excuse to do one.

I patched to the newest PTS version, but I can't log on.
I just get a black screen and some background music.

How do you want the feedback anyways?

Bug1 Round7, after defeat all enemy counters still go down and failed.
I think countdown should work only at final round with Fire Wing Boss.

Bug2 We can use Vehicles in instance.

Bug3 TrainTurtle went away somewhere and how shall we give any feedback? :3 Ah, she came back.

Not a bug but Ironclads are too much tough for lowbies.
Not a bug but 3.9G resource for success are bit too low for a limited time event prize.

Never got my AF from the last PTS event, and the bugs reported are still active (round 7 bug) so this was a waist of time.

I think they want vehicles in this one, given the chariot is being sold with this event, but aside from the bugged fight this was very boring and uninspiring, and the end reward isn't worth the time. The voice and sound syncing is terrible, felt like a bad imported horror movie from the 70s.

Finally got through the whole thing...for 39,000 resources...WAIST OF TIME. Comabt was just hack and slash. No substance, no epic feel. Utter disappointment.

Round 7 can be a tad close time wise, also with the last boss can not spawn on the team.

The alert is pretty interesting, but at the same time, a bit simple.

The timer at the last fights make it pretty much a dps fight. I would take the timer out and make the enemies rage stronger with time, so low dps but sturdy teams have its own chance.

The crowd audio still plays after leaving the alert, the only way to stop it playing is to relogg.

The cutscenes are far too long, either remove them and replace with audio only or just shorten them or even make them team skippable

The platform where you collect the reward is very high, too high even. If you dont have a flight power or acro/athletics you wont be collecting the reward.

    Updated after additional Runs.

    Ok, let's see...

Bug: Round 7 Psi counted down and failed us reguardless of them all being dead. This did not happen in other round 7s without Psi so it might just be the combination.

Bug: Firewing Voice Scene 1: No Audio.
Update: Random Audio fails the more times you run it....like most things with cutscenes in CO.

Bug: [Legacy Advances R.A.D. Sphere] does not moonjump in alert so getting to end platform for reward was not possible with it. This might only be this power but if not then people who cannot fly(I can, Hover Disk FTW) might have issues.

Bug: Argent Group refer to themselves as Viper(Previously stated)

Bug: The Dogz seem to have relocated to MC.

Bug: Firewing ability "Continous Burn" persists through cutscene and ending...I almost died well after winning.
Update: Happens everytime. Died once in alert on one run getting reward. Died somewhere in the middle of zoning out of the alert another run.

Bug: Crowd Audio will continue to play up to an hour(as of this typing) since last alert run. Similiar things can occur with the Red Winter Alert randomly.
Update: Relogging/toonhopping does not stop this. /quit does.
    _______________________________________________________________
    New Bugs:

Bug: Pets will trigger fights in cutscenes. This is not only an audio thing but also means someone like Firewing he will kick off the schtick attacks and such before you have the abiltity to see and react to them.

Bug: Players randomly reset to spot in front of spawning mobs. This does not always happen though. This also means when it does not happen you can see player names in the cutscenes like in most Alerts.

Bug: Vs. the 3 Gladiators it can take up to 10s to be able to target them at all. Even though they're right there in front of you.

Bug: Timer on Duratok/Ironclad starts too soon therefore not granting you the entire time.

Bug: Certain power(or the UI itself) is sluggish in the alert. I've asked around and it's not just me so in a timed portion when something like Strafing Run of Chainsaw refuses to work it can be a bad thing.

Bug: Firewing Schtick Warnings may not be visible at range(similiar to certain aspects of Gravitar like her countdown bars) but seem to be visible up close. Position of actual warning and where it really is may not be the same so you can get out of the way and still get hit.
    _______________________________________________________________

Overall Opinion: I would challenge anyone who worked on this project to tell me the storyline behind the entire event. If they can then I would question why it's not in the event itself. Not to be too brutal but I've seen much better storywriting and such in NW Foundry Missions. How exactly did we transition from a race and a second redundant race which could have been a mission with some storyline instead to fighting in the arena exactly? Is proving you can fly or use a vehicle the prereqs for being strong enough to engage in combat? Really?

The overall design of the arena is nice but I don't know who the MC is and his guards are very short for what they are and I question the color choices on their costumes...unless they are mud golems.

The lack of any lore/perks/titles(especially titles for full completion) is annoying to me. I believe someone should be reminded that there are people in the game who like this kind of thing. I happen to be one of them.

This was supposed to be a tie-in from The Lemurian Invasion if I am recalling correctly. If I am correct on this then...uhm....how? I'm simply not seeing it.

Also, this being only 2 parts vs. the 3 from The Lemurian Invasion or, heaven forbid, something with more parts was a bit saddening. Please correct this in the future. I would rather see more with an actual storyline if this is meant to be an event.

The fight vs. Firewing was Boooooooooooooring. I would have hoped with all the new AI and such in NW that he could do something roughly in the neighborhood of half as impressive as a NW boss(the little mission bosses even). He just kinda stands there and gets faceplanted while shooting out fire. The only risk in my group was the "Continous Burns" which hits everyone and wouldn't even remotely be an issue if I wasn't gimped to 30....which leads me to....
Update: If you fight him at range you will not see most of his cool warnings and such. This makes the fight more boring visually. At close range you see the stuff but it has the "Gravitar tracking issues" so you think you're out of danger...but you're not.

Lastly, if I am expected to show my might in combat....isn't it a bit odd that you're gimping me 10 levels right out of the gates? I do not have to remind you of the multitudes of posts on this subject. Just please stop the lvl 30 stuff. Bury it next to The Juryrig Upgrade System as a bad idea and move on, please.

Ok, that about sums it up. Until next time.

Sorry the stream didn't work out, folks. As a compensation, here's a Facebook exchange I had last night...

Me: "I've successfully calmed down the internet on two separate occasions: once by bringing up bacon, and once by saying I'd eat my hat. I'm worried that they're getting inured to that, though... no idea where I'll find a hat made of bacon."

Friend, several hours of cooking later:

Update: The persistent cheering bug, where the crowd could be heard across time, space, and characters has been fixed on the QA servers. Thanks everyone for helping us target this issue.

Question: Does this happen anywhere else in the game, where ambient sound persists when you get away from the source?

Yes, sometimes the Red Winter Alert ambient sirens persist after leaving that alert.
