BM Costume Contests: Challenge Editions

Bluhman Costume Contests
Held (most) Thursdays at 8PM Server Time

I've held a good number of these contests, usually with a standard layout of categories, as well as a specialized challenge category for pioneering costumers to try out. As I've gone on with my hosting, however, I've sought to get a bit more ambitious with what I could do with the challenge category. Since mostly in the past I had resorted to announcing the contest (and special category) an hour before the contest starts, it doesn't really give contestants a good window of time to really prepare. To compound this, many of these more ambitious classifications also make it a bit difficult for people to really gauge what I'm looking for. With the aid of pictures and descriptions, as well as around a week of warning for these specialized categories, what I'm hoping to do with this thread is open up the promise of the special category in my contest - sometimes to go so far as to make a contest entirely specialized (single category/similar categories) in some instances.

This OP will contain the current upcoming challenge, which will include various details about the category, as well as other minor details about the upcoming contest.

Challenge 7(2):
CGA
GCMgq9m.png

hey, guys, my computer crashed and is in the shop for the weekend, so i'm going to have to ask that you design some outfits that don't strain my computer too hard, ok?

Contest Details:
  • Date: July 18th
  • Categories: Best 5!
  • Prize Scale: 25-50-100-200-400 G prizes for each rank. And I'll do silly period-accurate sprites of the winners as well.

Category Details/Rules:
  • Create a costume that uses no more than the specified colors above.
  • Because I'm using a computer from 1988 to judge this contest, I will be judging this entire contest with the command "/renderscale 0.3". Make sure your outfit looks good from a distance!

I gotta say that those are brilliant categories for your CC. Anti-hero wanderer is an
inspired choice and one I have not seen in any CC, yet fits perfectly with the superhero genre.

I won't be able to come, as 8pm st is 5am for me, but you have given me the urge to create another toon (damn you!) with the mention of that category, as well as alternative sepia outfits for my main toons.

    Have a great CC!

Perhaps for future ones. This one has a prize that involves actually having actual costume data on hand - basically, the way I'm going to set up the poster requires the costume file.

If you were willing, you could take a picture of the costume and PM me the costume file for use - I don't want the costume JPGs taken or used by anyone else, you know!

Good news is that I got the poster of the winners of the 1st contest completed.

Bad news is that the server is down, and that I'm in the mood for fancy dinner tonight, so there's a high probability I might have to postpone this next amazing costume challenge until tomorrow or later next week. Sry.

After a week hiatus (thanks to finals) the challenges are back. This week, you'll be on a time limit, and will receive your instructions and design your costume in a meager 20 minutes!

Bumping this thread up. Read that OP, because this week, the entries are going to be Posted here, on these forums!

Which is nice, because you'll only need to spend money for making one of those outfits.

For those who might be confused as to how to do this, take screenshots for each of the costume color schemes you design (PrtScn/SysRq key on Windows), and crop and paste them together in a program like Paint. Once you got that set up, upload the picture to a site like Imgur or Imageshack.

As a final tip of advice, I want to see costumes that truly redefine their color choices on each palette shift. Outfits that truly try to explore what colors they look good in are going to get more props from me than those that just shift a single color around on their outfit.

    HAVE AT IT!

Man, this was an awesome idea, Bluh. I just wish real life hadn't kicked my rear so much this past week, so I could've spent more time on this. I may still edit this post and add in a couple more patterns if I get a chance to get em before the deadline, but here's a few for starters.

    Sorry)

Excellent! I was getting kind of worried that no one was entering, but I guess there still is a full day before people will need to submit! The plan was sort of to judge this category before hosting the contest on thursday, then announcing and rewarding the winner then.
