Is anyone else super annoyed with all the default costumed characters that have been running around lately?Today I saw like 3 default radiants and 2 default infernos who were over level 20 and yet they still have not bothered to change their costumes!
I mean you have hundreds of thousands of combinations available in the character creator with just a silver account alone. The only thing limiting you is imagination which most of these people dont seem to have. It really bugs me the hell out.
Making copyrighted characters is one thing that I can let slide by but this is ridiculous.
How many other (western) games let you change your appearance beyond picking one of five faces and one of three hair styles?
If they're new to CO they may not know what you can do, and the options you get your first time in as silver don't give you much to play with anyways, or they may just not care, yet.
It's one thing to obsess over your epic purple shoulders of aircraft-carrier-size-ness in other games, it's another to have any control of your appearance, it could be too much like playing dress-up for them.
This is my Risian Corvette. There are many like it, but this one is mine.
1. Folks just trying things out (esp. at low level)
2. Young players (age 6-10) that don't even realize you can change costume
3. Toons used exclusively for farming/exploits
Personally, as far as complaining about the characters wearing black/being clones/using default cosutmes/etc etc goes, I don't mind one bit if it means my characters end up looking more unique
I kind of figure its just little kids because they often have really dumb names like asdgh. No im not kidding either I really saw a default costume character whos name was just random letters someone smashed on the keyboard.
One other thing ive noticed is that the Hulk seems to be the most created costume out of any other copyrighted character.

more likely they are players trying the game for the first time and they wanted just jump in or they haven't decided yet about the costume and they will change it later on. At lvl 15 everyone get another costume slot, it is unlikely that they will fill it with another default costume

To be fair I used the default Devastator look for a male until lv 30 just to try out the AT. Once I was satisfied with it I changed his appearance to a back story I have been thinking up as I lvled.
Just did an alert with three toons who were using default costumes.
One was named "Power Armor", one was named "The Soldier".
When I called one of them out, "Nice costume," the response was "F__K you!"
Best part--I didn't reference any particular toon. I just typed "Nice costume" using Local chat.

Well, then.
Guess that kind of disproves the Bot theory.
Also one thing that I saw once which I thought was pretty ironic was a npc going up to a default costume character and saying "I bet you spent hours in the character editor" or something like that which made me lol.

Think they might have been a few people recently genericed and still upset about the incident?
Ah, that is a distinct possibility! That would explain a default costume/name combo with a level 20 character.
In order for that to happen. Cryptic would of needed to change how this is handled. I know in the past being "Genericed" would put you in a white shirt and jeans and your name would become "BadName####"
Seeing as how change isn't something we are used to seeing here. I have to call bollocks on that idea.

AFAIK, if you get genericed, you go to the absolute default outfit (what Freeforms see when they make somebody new - the blue full body tights outfit) and get yes, a BadName### name above your head with a free rename. Oh, and you get flagged for a free costume change on said default outfit.
Actually, saw a Hulk clone carrying two swords, I couldn't resist to yell 'HULK SLASH!'.
Besides, I'd prefer default costumes over these shadow ninja assassin furries shapeshifted into soul eating dark deathlords of doom from hell saving the widow and the orphan. All hanging out in black and red with Therakiel Wings and a Demonflame/Roin'Esh costume set.

Unless something changed its never been the blue and yellow tights. Ive seen it happen to too many folks in the past. Mind you this was mostly back on the old forums when we had our own champs pages.
It always gave me a silly stupid grin to see some former clone in the silly white nerd shirt and Jeans.

Streamlined is an understatement.

A Prootwaddle is one of the weirder player-character races in "The Fantasy Trip", Steve Jackson's first published role-playing game.

Considering the customization options in NWO, they might just expect "default" to be the norm everywhere.
