The Black Talon suit is painted black.
    Black Mask's mask is...black.
Black Harequin's name is a hint that this guy ain't a hero.
Black Fang's fur is mostly black.
Luther Black's last name might actually be Black.
I dunno who Black Diamond is.

    What's the issue?

The developers and designers have a penchant for anything dark and stuff. It's like, edgy or something.

It's not really that bad when you take most player's names into consideration. Take a shot every time you see the word "dark" in somebody's character name.

    Red Dawn
    Redstone
Red Jack McCall (the shapeshifter inmate)

And the Crimson Serpent could be considered red.

That's all as far as I know.

But in most of these instances, it actually makes sense. That and it's a colour that works well when tacked on to a name or title and quickly and easily conveys something about the character.

I don't know. It seems like an odd thing to get hung up on.

Black is shorthand for lots of things: evil, night, edgy, mysterious, and more.

It has been used as a descriptor, epithet, and alias since people have been telling stories.

What is strange, IMO, is that the OP only noticed it now.

How many "Black" characters are in DC, Marvel, or other comics?

Because when making hero/villain names, adding word 'Black' to any other word makes creating (cool) names easier.

Black: Cat, Dog, Bird, Rain, Cloud, Sun, Wind, Word, Hand, Fist, Eye, Head, Foot, Death, Kill, Life, Gun, Knife, Bow, Arrow, Spear, Axe, Sword, Shield, Hammer, Mace, Ghost, Pen, Box, Letter, Pepper, Pie, Cake, Ball, Wing, Tail, Claw, Talon...

I'm going to complain, there aren't enough heroes with pastel names and outfits.

Where's the Pastel pink avenger(completely disregarding Anneika my totally pink gun nut)
Where are the bright coloured ones? (like Bright Avenger- rainbow coloured)

Where are the White people?............*facepalm* it doesn't stay white long in a fight unless you use *fanfare*

DIRT -B-Gone[Tm] the spray guaranteed to keep all those irritating heroing stains off your outfit. just a quick spray before you start and DIRT-B-GONE[Tm]will keep your outfit pristine all day.

Except for Butternut Fang, that would be Adorable!

Also remember the colour black symbolicly has theological importance (such as association with the Jesuits in Catholicism) occult significance (representing the secret and the hidden) and in the East is a colour of nobility and royalty.

Black just makes things cool. Often Black is associated with things that are often Badass and Dark in how theyre portrayed.

For example Batman: Much cooler today as we dive into a darker side of his story, rather than the old Adam West cartoony style, the new darker style is just better and more badass.

Another example, The Black Knight: He always triumphs, he looks badass.

It's like how people can portray Pink as a colour most associated with girls, there's no racism involved whatsoever, dumb people however can just take things the wrong way because theyre looking for conflict about anything on purpose -.-

Did I hit a chord somewhere in you? Yeah I don't read comics they were too geeky for me. "Black" is just an easy word to tack onto another, to denote evil/grittiness/or general bada**ness.

It's similar to how there are so many "captains" or alliterative names in comics.

But the Champions setting follows a rather typical superhero comic book logic? *)
So names made in this fashion shouldn't be very surprising here.

*- I said setting, not a Champions MMO, because by merits of its artistic direction and cheesy writing the game itself has serious shortcomings in producing a decent hero comic feel.

Finalslaps, I must admit that you really did hit a chord, deep within me.

And so I hesitantly walked to the mirror on the wall, and with trembling hand leaned and looked far into my own, searching eyes.

And I realized, in that moment, that comic books are in fact--

    geeky.

And further, that I, having deeply loved comics as a youth, I can no longer escape the burgeoning reality that I, by association, must also be--

    geeky.

And, like an ice-lake yielding to the inevitable kiss of spring, something broke inside of me.

Like a diamond bullet in the forehead, I had the realization that we, the geeky, tight wearing, primary color (plus black and white) wearing geeks who are pathetic enough to actually play this game for the theme for which it was created, are merely fortunate to have a cool kid such as you--one so above--who would deign to show us our folly, and uplift and enlighten us with such a perspicacious and meaningful thread.

Well done, O Captain! My Captain! I salute you.

My Captain! I salute you.

reads post..... you want a tractor with that load?

why we play this game,we're sick of the endless dime a dozen fantasy moo moos, which tend to run together after a while.
    Down at the pub
    "what you do today?"
"nothing much, killed off a dragon, beat up the Titan who came back through a gate. Nothing much. You?"
    "same. want a beer?"

I think I shall make the Pastel peach Mauler

The game's good, the lore is crappy. I don't play it for skintight spandex. Good that there is options to not play it that way.

LOL I wonder if everyone got butthurt about my thread. It's supposed to be a joke. This is not srs bizness.
