Most of Champions Online contents... are totally dead among UTC 09:00-14:00(in JPN time 18:00-23:00, Server Time 02:00-07:00) since Alert patch go on live. No Hero Games pops, Now not even Gravitar pops so much during this time, and I also never see any Cosmic Villains, so what shall I enjoy this game as an MMO?
Please save me from this boredom days. Smash, Grab, Burst ain't so fun for end gamer...
sorry can't help you. I'm on usually about 1am to 4am server time.
I know someone else in australia who's usually on same time and they do end game but I can't remember their handle. I'll see if I can remember

I spot giant mosnters sometimes and then very quietly sneak away.
I did try to find Vikorin the blind once. I think I found every room except he one he was in.
I was specifically refering to CO though. No localized version of the game for people from those areas to even validate a region lock to the US server.
Though, I can think of several other reasons for why a game like CO isn't popular among the Far East Asian endgamers. Here's a post on a similar topic from NCSoft, I'll let you guess as to what game it refers to:
The game is already in its finished form in the original Korean-language version, but bringing [The Game] to the West involves more than simply translating the text and recording new dialogue. Gameplay styles differ greatly in different cultures, meaning that what players in Korea consider fun and balanced might not be as well-received in Europe and America. Addressing considerations like these takes time and NCSOFT is committed to doing it right--without sacrificing any of the elements that make [The Game] as popular as it continues to be in Korea.
Edit: I find this ideology rather flawed, then again, I don't play with Far East Asian endgamers - Thanks to region blocks.
I was specifically refering to CO though. No localized version of the game for people from those areas to even validate a region lock to the US server.
Can you imagine what a localized version of CO would be like over in the Asian market? CO's vision of superheroes doesn't really fit with the dominant depiction of superheroes in that region of the world. Heck, even Spider-Man wasn't safe from heavy localization.
Plus, as mentioned, the way CO plays and the genre it is in doesn't appeal to Korean (the biggest East Asian MMO market).
Champions isn't:
A) Grindy as all hell:
For some reason Koreans freaking love grindy MMOs, this is why the winged fantasy MMO NCsoft bought over had to be heavily retooled for a western audience (which they failed, it was still far too grindy even for western tastes). Champions, by extent, isn't really that grindy, hell a dedicated player who really wanted to hit level cap could do so running nothing but smash alerts in 24 hours.
You can be individual:
Virtually nobody looks the same in CO, Koreans love that they can tell a persons 'mmo worth' by a quick glance at their character. "Oh look they're in tier X gear, that means they're awesome" seems quite prelevant. Admit it, you've tried Korean style MMOs and the customisation is usually piss poor.
C) Western Superheroes.
Despite the fact you can quite easily make a Tokusatsu type character in Champions Online the genre itself is virtually non-existent over there.
D) They like gambling.
This one was 'rectified' admittedly when they introduced lockboxes, for some reason those freaky Koreans just love to pour real life money into things that barely give them a chance at something exclusive, it's the "I haz this rare item therefore I am tha awesomest!" kind of approach that, until recently, was only for cosmetic items. Lockboxes are PW Korean influence slowly seeping into a MMO where it kind of doesn't belong.

Champions Online: Be the hero you wish you could be in a better game.

That's not how it works.
You see, Perfect World is the parent company of Perfect World Entertainment; in order to avoid competing with themselves, their corporate policy is to require the home region to use separate servers from PWE.
Cryptic, on the other tentacle, doesn't have multiple server farms; they operate out of the one location in northern California. There's no way to force Cryptic's games into the Perfect World paradigm. And, corporate culture (especially Asian corporate culture) being what it is, there's no interest on their part in changing the paradigm; they'd actually prefer the loss of potential business to making individual allowances for individual games.
Note: I'm by no means attempting to defend this mindset, I don't think it even is defensible; I'm merely trying to explain it.

They probably gave up while trying to translate all the PSI puns.
This is another one of those problems that I wonder might be helped by Foundry -- because the range of costumes and appearance in CO being what it is, you could TRIVIALLY make up NPCs and backdrops that are more Eastern in tone.
On the other hand, you'd have to get folks to try the game to find that out.
On the gripping hand, it's a free game.

Not like the Champions lore doesn't have any heroes of that kind. But there is no sourcebook actually focusing on them so far. Champions Worldwide gave us Gadget Boy, Tetsuronin (a Japanese Defender/Iron Man expy), Charm Girl (an idol singer who is also a flying brick) and Kazan (a villain with vulcanic powers). It mentions a few more, but doesn't give any information about them beyond their names and powers.
CO also introduced the Harajuku Twins. Not sure how serious they can be taken.
There is potential in Champions Universe's Japan, but it's very unused.
Funfact: There are available costume options in the game that are appearantly inspired by Kazan's armor.
They probably gave up while trying to translate all the PSI puns.
Bonus Funfact: PSI are probably the closest looking to archetypical Japanese minions in the game!
VIPER are close second. Their minions have too much visual diversity, but at least they have mutated monsters in their ranks.

Wow, I didn't know about all that.
If what you posted is true, that would mean Koreans are pretty close minded, and closer to an ant hive than to the rest of humanity.

That is purely me speaking through experience of having at least attempted to play several Korean style MMOs, they all tend to feature ridiculous grinding, piss poor character customisation if they have any at all (a lot of MMOs I've tried just have you as "you are x class therefore you look like this and you're a woman, you may choose your hair colour however" style thing going on) and WoW style gearing (in that the gears appearance is more important than what your character looks like).
I've come across very few that come close to matchmaking Champions Online, City of Heroes or even DC Universe Online in regards to actually having non-grindy content (as in you actually have missions which may have a thin story but it is a story nonetheless, rather than "just go kill me 200 of X monster" or sometimes they don't even have that and it is all about going out and just grinding mob kills), decent character customisation and generally not being a ball ache to play.
It is more like Korean MMO player tastes are basically the complete opposite of Western MMO tastes, hell even general videogames. They seem to be very heavily focused on skill based games like RTS or Fighting games. Hell the Shmup genre has all but died out in the West when the Arcades disappeared but is still going strong in the East. By contrast certain genres either didn't catch on or didn't catch on in certain Eastern countries. Japan for example just doesn't do FPS games, they're basically what Shmups are to the west, only played by a small minority of gamers.
In the west people have kind of grown to loathe JRPGs, they're grindy, the characters are virtually all emo teenagers with wangst problems who brood but that archetype appeals to Eastern audiences. For Western audiences it would be the bald super-macho soldier that is probably the most overused archetype.
Wow, I didn't know about all that.

Having actually lived in S. Korea myself and befriending a good many of them during my stay I can safely say this is absolutely wrong. Anecdotal as my evidence may be, it's a far cry better than what's being presented here so far.
WTF man. Seriously dude thats not cool at all. Being born in Japan I come from Asia ( though myself being White not Asian ) I still find that "all these asian people" somewhat offensive U__U"
... During a thread made by an Asian person, asking about Asian playtimes when the server's dead, discussing how we don't have many Asian players, you get offended because someone said that another free to play Asian mmo was released, and that Asian people will probably be back when it's done?
I don't even.
In game, I am @EvilTaco. Happily killing purple gang members since May 2008.

OI you >_> the PHRASE "all these asian people" sounds a little off to me . If I am wrong and have read it wrong (again my English isnt great U__U") I'd happly say sorry to the guy but you you shut up
We actauly have a lot of Australians and at least 3 people from Japan ( Me, Smoochan and the OP ) and dont forget Pandaman from China he can still play if we wishes. I think there is more people from the Asia area than you might think.
I dont know where you are from and maybe my English is off but that phrase just seemed iffy.
*edit* also your one to talk in another thread you assumed I was American -.-"
*double edit* And as it turned out it was a person with rubbish english ( myself ) getting the wrong idea from another person with rubbish english ( taco ) . No offense was ment and I have apologized.

It's ok my english ain't too good either, but I believed people from Asia were called Asians.
What is the correct word?
On the other hand, this thread contains a few posts full of clich?s about the A people -I mean those who live in Asia- and that didn't seem to bother anyone.
So it's ok to claim the A people only like powerrangers-like heros, only like grindfest & gambling, all want to look alike, but calling them "asians"? OMG NOOOO!

Ahhh I see well its all my bad then for miss reading you good sir and once again my grasp of English has failed me again.
No it was the wording THESE then asian people that was made me jump the gun. But as it has played out was was someone with rubbish english misunderstanding another with rubbish english. You gotta love the internets.

My English are terrible but don't mind. At least I don't care. xD
CO costume design variation and character movement & control are still epic in most of MMO and I think this is World Wide. Can use English or not is very small problem for players. We have dictionary and google to help our language. xD
powerrangers-like heroes, or Anime style heroes, we can even do Magical-Girls in CO. This is epic.
BTW I get motion sickness in many MMO or FPS, but I felt non of those in CO. That's one of the reason I still love CO the best.
Some Heavy duty missions that's require 5-10 players (like Gravitar) or Hero Games queue pops constantly, or Cosmic Villain appears in stage more often, will solve East Asian end gamers "time" problem.
Trust me, CO can be more World Wide game with looong life span.
I took a look at this 'Scarlet Blade' and... what nonsense. Seems like a series of 'fan service'. Female only, rated 17+? Yeah, that's a boob game.
And also, to be honest, I think most Japanese/Korean/Chinese MMO's are trash in the first place.
Well thats a little harsh. True a lot are grindfests. Japan does do better MMO's than Korea and China with the likes of Phantasy Star Online 2 and Final Fantasy XI we wont talk about XIV Also Sony a Japanese company owns and funds both Everquest Games and also funds DCUO and the Planetside games. So Japan cant really be grouped with Korea and China in its style of mmo games.
OK Monster Hunter is a bit of a grind fest will give you that :I

As mentioned previously my experience of this comes from the Korean MMOs that I've tried, which is quite a few, that nearly all suffered from the problems of lack of customisation, horrendous grind, gear treadmills that would make a WoW player wet themselves in sheer horror and real money gambling being front and center.
Also that bloody awful stamina system. The one where your playtime is severly limited to about 2-3 hours worth of gameplay every day. Now that's fine on weekdays if you work but say a weekend where you're like "screw it, I have all day to burn though this," you end up bumping into this restriction really quickly.
I know most Korean MMOs actually remove the stamina system when they're introduced to the west because the whole stamina thing is pretty much a Korea only requirement (is it law there? Sure someone can inform me) but some use it and then monetize it "oh you want to keep playing, well pony up motherlover" and it ends up costing you WAAAAAY more than just a subscription would in the long run.
The fact that I see the same things in Korean MMOs over and over again kind of colours your perception on what they must like. Companies keep pumping out these fantasy grindfest MMOs so there must be some reason why surely? Just like western companies keep pumping out those first person shooters, there is a reason the big ones make all that money.
The other reason is because the reason I listed were pretty much told to the City of Heroes community as why City of Heroes failed miserably in Korea (where it was called City of Hero).
Now my only real experience with Japanese MMOs (as in MMOs aimed at the Japanese market, not just made by Japanese companies)...well they don't tend to get English translations.
The only thing even close to one would be Dark Souls but that isn't strictly an MMO, sure it's massive, it has damn good multiplayer and it is online but that's like calling DOTA 2 an MMO.

Out of curiosity, was CO ever marketed in East Asia? Or Asia for that matter.
I'm in Singapore and I had to tell my friend who's a big superhero buff about the existence of CO in 2012, 3 years after the game launched. I personally started in late '11
There's no Asian language support built into the game or website, whats that tell ya?[/B]
But I think English is the most general language in whole world wide.
Australia for of course, and China(esp. Hong Kong and Shanghai), South Korea, Taiwan, Philippine, Singapore, Thailand, and Japan, most of someone who do this game all understand English for at least. We don't need Asian language support anyway.

i dunno about ffXI not being a grindfest, maybe they fixed it, in the intervening years, but at us launch the game was one of the most outright abusive mmos i ever played. soloing with the beginning classes, even the monk was painful, quests were few and far between, advanced classes were accessed by finding unmarked npcs who sent you looking for rare drop items from enemies that were difficult to solo, and death didnt just give you debt, it LOST EXP, and it could delevel you..and if you had to sell your old armor and weps to get level appropriate gear and died...guess who is running around in their underwear punching people. that game made em want to quit mmos for good till coh came around.
and as for pso, cant wait for the us release of 2, though the exclusion of the beast race from universe pains me greatly, and why the HELL cant we play motavians or desolisians!!!? I will play a cast and like it, but variety, ya know?

... During a thread made by an Asian person, asking about Asian playtimes when the server's dead, discussing how we don't have many Asian players, you get offended because someone said that another free to play Asian mmo was released, and that Asian people will probably be back when it's done?
I don't even.
RIP Caine

I wholey apologize to you and declare myself a massive spoon wrench.

No lie, that made me go do a websearch for that game..

I'm in Singapore and I had to tell my friend who's a big superhero buff about the existence of CO in 2012, 3 years after the game launched. I personally started in late '11
Rumors and whispers in dark places of an epic new game called Champions: Kawaii Bobble Head On The Dashboard Of Your Vehicle Edition.
Lol
I'm enough for vehicles... 2 Hawk wing 1 Tank 2 Bike are in my Hideout Bank nothing to do after Lemurian Invasion. I gave up for Chariot after I spend xxx dollars. Dx
i dunno about ffXI not being a grindfest, maybe they fixed it, in the intervening years, but at us launch the game was one of the most outright abusive mmos i ever played. soloing with the beginning classes, even the monk was painful, quests were few and far between, advanced classes were accessed by finding unmarked npcs who sent you looking for rare drop items from enemies that were difficult to solo, and death didnt just give you debt, it LOST EXP, and it could delevel you..and if you had to sell your old armor and weps to get level appropriate gear and died...guess who is running around in their underwear punching people. that game made em want to quit mmos for good till coh came around.
and as for pso, cant wait for the us release of 2, though the exclusion of the beast race from universe pains me greatly, and why the HELL cant we play motavians or desolisians!!!? I will play a cast and like it, but variety, ya know?

The boobs don't really need to be bigger... they just need a higher poly count. Conversely, flat chests need improvement as well.
Champions Online: Be the hero you wish you could be in a better game.
I have a 13 year old girl superhero, and trying to make her look right, her chest ends up having screwed up height maps such that her chest looks dented in from the front.
Ended up using bulky jackets and armor tops. Meh.
