Veterans, you know the drill. New comers, here's the deal. I'm still maintaining the Freeform Builds Directory for Champions Online but I haven't been checking the boards as diligently as in the past to contact people about adding their builds to the directory (got married, life got busy, got milk, yadda yadda).
Anywho, are there any builds out there that should be added? Let me know. For those that don't know what the heck I'm talking about when I say Freeform Build Directory the link is in my signature at the bottom.
The core of this build actually ends at level 26, so there's lots of room to personalize it. I added some pets and an alpha strike to this one.
You will throw out so much damage, you will most likely gain Threat. I hate being squishy and I like doing damage so I made this build. I found that in most Alerts I steal the Threat unless someone has a real tank build with them. I'm not sure if that reflects more on the state of players who do Alerts (like me) or on this build.
Dexterity is Primary for the Dodge/avoid mechanics which enhances the Invun. You could easily take Protector Spec if you want to be more "tanky" and actually have skills that enhance Threat generation.
Specializations: Dexterity:Combat Training(3/3) Dexterity:Gear Utilization(2/3) Dexterity:Evasion(2/2) Dexterity:Deadly Aim(3/3) Vindicator:Merciless(3/3) Vindicator:The Rush of Battle(3/3) Vindicator:Focused Strikes(2/3) Vindicator:Mass Destruction(2/3) Guardian:Fortified Gear(3/3) Guardian:Ruthless(2/2) Guardian:Find the Mark(2/3) Guardian:The Best Defense(3/3) Mastery:Dexterity Mastery(1/1)
She's still something of a work in progress as I learn the game better, but boy howdy can she crank out the crits and DPS. Clear the spawn with Lead Tempest, then ride Two-Gun Mojo like your new bicycle. Bullet Beatdown's mitigation is there for when you want to switch to a more defensive posture, which you might wind up doing quite a bit as 95% of the time you'll be enjoying all the aggro. She's got some survivability even with the low CON, most of my faceplants come from getting scrapperlock and Lead Tempesting too many mobs while Masterful Dodge is in cooldown. With bosses, just remember to block and fire off Conviction and maybe a Stim Pack in between TGM's and you're golden.
EDIT: Celestial Conduit is Foxfire's 'care bear stare' for concept purposes. *cough* Easily replaceable if you wish.
The idea behind this build is to be a true hybrid. Not only will it almost always be in the hybrid role (switching over to Tank only during the last phase of Gravitar to be able to eat the orange bubbles if necessary)
It is a high-tech hero with access to a pair of high powered pistols as well as a nanobot swarm that passively repairs the hero during combat (Regeneration) and can be sent out to help allies (Iniquity), though doing so takes a part of the defensive swarm away. It can also inject nanobots directly into a severely wounded individual to get them back on their feet (Resurrection Serum).
Primarily designed to function as the main threat holder of any encounter. Regeneration and Iniquity provide a remarkably useful synergy even without any presence though and should not be underestimated for emergency healing.
Trigger Sonic Device as often as you can, preferably right before Lead Tempest.
Gear:
Definitely get an avoidance breastplate with a dodge core. Regeneration is good enough on its own but adding dodge will make you shine as a tank. Taking on Gravitar is easy with just rank 5 mods.
Optional:
Breakaway Shot has no solid purpose for this build, but it looks great.
You will suffer from a shortage of advantage points and this is one of those powers that work well at rank 1.
As designed, you will not even be able to rank up both of your travel powers so chose carefully. You could pick another active offense and not rank it though, if you really want two travel powers.
Thanks to Tammy Waffles' range build (though she doesn't know it, and I hope she reads this) I updated Marcus Aurelius' build. Here is an alternate configuration that I just solo'd Valerian Scarlet on TT Elite. It can probably be further gear optimized with more STR.
Primary
Gloves of Precision (110 Str, Gambler's Gem)
Helmet of Speed (110 Con, Impact Prism)
Nemesis Jacket <-- yeah this could be better but it worked
If you want, please post this as a link under Marcus' current URL in the builds directory.
To solo tough content, I've realized, requires a chunk of Con, at least enough to be able to bring your health back up using Conviction R3. With the Int in this build, Conviction cycles quickly while fueling MSA. It's also used to turtle w/ CoPD.
I ditched Unbreakable due to Resurgence's synergy with high Con, and switched Evasive Maneuvers for Ego Surge for Con synergy reasons as well.
I'm using Marcus' original build, since I'd rather have the brawler damage. Nonetheless, I find this to be post-worthy since I don't see very many TT-Elite solo builds. The strategy is to pop CoPD, BCR + MD, then aggro one minion group at a time. Hit Conviction every time it's up, and if your HP runs below 40%, turtle up with Parry + Conviction until you get back to at least 70% or until MD is back up again. For Valerian, I didn't bother with CoPD and just attacked her as much as possible hitting Ego Surge whenever it came up. I used Resurgence to fill up the health bar when running low instead of turtling.
Updating my "build benchmarks" list with TT-Elite, since I now know it's possible. (Thanks again Tammy)
This is a fun and effective Might build. It is very survivable and does decent damage. I designed it for solo PVE play, so I can't speak to its effectiveness under other circumstances.
The build performs poorly before level 8, so starting characters should keep Beatdown until then. At level 8, Beatdown should be swapped out for Roomsweeper. The build is playable at level 8, but doesn't deal very good damage until level 11 when you get Enrage.
Enrage is a Form power that allows you to build up stacks of the Enrage buff (which increase your damage). You gain a new stack and/or refresh your existing stacks every time you use a knock power against a target. You also gain some energy every time you receive a stack of the Enrage buff. Roomsweeper (and Haymaker to a lesser extent) will be your primary means of increasing and maintaining stacks of the Enrage buff. You will always want to have the Enrage power toggled on. Do not bother ranking it up though.
Mighty Leap is a gap-closer -- pretty much a necessity for a melee build. If you decide not to use a flight-based travel power, you'll want to add the Nailed to the Ground advantage to Mighty Leap so that you can effectively fight flying enemies.
Roomsweeper will be your only effective attack until level 17, and after that it will likely remain your primary attack for groups of henchmen and villains, so rank it up ASAP.
Some players dislike Roomsweeper because it sends targets flying, which is usually bad for melee-based builds, but I haven't found this to be a problem. Henchmen are usually one-shotted, so it doesn't matter that they're knocked away. Villains usually take two hits, but you can keep them in place by using Thunderclap immediately before Roomsweeper.
Thunderclap will stun your targets, causing Roomsweeper to knock them up instead of away. You can then finish them off with a second Roomsweeper. (If you have trouble landing the first Roomsweeper before the Thunderclap's stun expires, remember to start the Roomsweeper immediately after you initiate the Thunderclap--you do not have to wait for the Thunderclap animation to complete. Ranking up Thunderclap also extends the stun's duration.)
Once you learn Haymaker, it will become your primary attack for tough single targets such as Master Villains and Super Villains. It will also send the target flying. If you find this to be a problem, you could swap Haymaker out for Demolish.
Invulnerability is an awesome passive. Small attacks just bounce off you and large attacks are reduced. It is particularly effective against lots of small attacks and less effective against single huge attacks. As a 99% solo player, though, I rarely have to worry about really huge attacks.
Molecular Self-Assembly generates energy every time one of your powers comes off cooldown. Mighty Leap, Thunderclap, and Conviction all have nice short cooldowns, so use them often!
Conviction is the build's primary heal. It's a quick little self-heal with a short cooldown, so rank it up and use it frequently.
Retaliation is a block enhancer, but that's not why I picked it. It provides a buff that significantly increases the damage of your next attack. So, in a tough fight, consider taking a half-second and doing a quick block before initiating that fully-charged haymaker!
Aggressor and Resurgence are your Active Offense and Active Defense, respectively. Aggressor significantly increases your damage for 12 seconds and helps you get out of holds. Resurgence gives you a nice big emergency heal. If you also want it to help you get out of holds and refresh your Enrage stacks (if you're under 50% health), you can take the Evanescent Emergence advantage instead of ranking it to 3.
I added Shockwave only to give the build a ranged attack, because everything else is melee. As a bonus, Shockwave is also an AoE attack, and it will knock targets upward (refreshing your Enrage stacks) when fully charged. It is not a necessary power for the build, and I rarely use it.
There's one unused Power slot you can use as you see fit.
I gear primarily for Strength and secondarily for Con and Int, with a bit of Rec and a smidgen of End. I also try to equip some Cost Discount gear and some plus Offense gear. If you find that Conviction doesn't heal you well enough, equipping some plus Heal gear is more effective than increasing your Presence.
I run this build in Hybrid role. You can't run in Melee Damage role because Invulnerability can only be used in Hybrid and Tank roles. In solo play (which is how I play 99% of the time), I found that the benefits of running this build in Tank role were outweighed by the disadvantages, so I don't use Tank role.
I call this build Dimensional Burn for the simple fact that 75% of the damage you're going to be dealing is Dimensional in nature, but colored to resemble fire. The key to the build is the Darkness Lunge and its Emerging Nightmares advantage. This power applies FEAR to the primary target and through the advantage all enemies within 10 feet. So Taking that into mind your Energy Unlock is simple Spirit Reverberation which gives energy based on feared targets taking Dimensional Damage. This damage is covered with One Hundred Hands Ghostly Strikes advantage. And later by Burning Chi Fist's DoT. With the Fists of the Righteous Flame advantage a full charged BCF will cause all of your melee attacks to deal dimensional damage for a short time as well all feeding into your Energy Unlock.
This build really shines in the Brawler Role and the chief PVE tactic for it is to lunge into the center of a group of mobs, Fully Charge Burning Chi Fist on the first target. Then Fully charge Brimstone and then finally unload with the One Hundred Hands, rinse and repeat as necessary. Explosive Arrow and Sword Cyclone are in there for a personal theme I have going with this build in game, and can easily be substituted for Open Palm Strike or Dragon Uppercut if you so desire. But if you take Open Palm Strike be sure to take its advantage as it then becomes a 25 foot AoE line attack with those in the first ten feet taking crushing damage and those beyond taking dimensional.
For the Super Ninja in you, you can also substitute the Way of the Warrior Passive for Shadow Form, that variant of the build above looks like this and plays in a similar manner.
Hey Redestshirt, wouldn't the Force Block with its advantage be just as viable here for the block as it performs a similar function, and returns energy while you're getting hit.
just curious (its the same amount of points either way)
Yes. He is a tank. Yes. He uses all dual pistols attacks.

This is my attempt at an update of Ashen's unarmed martial arts build from February of 2011. It's designed to be a very survivable build. I'm not a terribly good player, so I need builds that are forgiving enough to let me survive even if I make mistakes. I generally play solo, and I don't PvP. This build works great for me.
kenpojujitsu3: feel free to add this build and my Might build (Post #13 above) to the Freeform Builds Directory on ProBoards.

Anybody wanting to try this build from level 1 (or level 6) should start out with Thundering Kicks instead of Inexorable Tides, and then, at level 8, drop Thundering Kicks and replace it with Inexorable Tides. Otherwise, the build is almost unplayable until level 8.
My typical attack routine is as follows:
1. Approach to within 20 feet of target
2. Use Evasive Maneuvers to reverse-lunge 40 feet backwards, thereby substantially improving my Dodge stat for the next 12 seconds
3. Use Thunderbolt Lunge to close the gap to the target
4. Immediately turn on Righteous Fists to build energy while I'm maneuvering and inbetween other attacks
5. If necessary, maneuver around the target to get as many mobs as possible into my upcoming cone-shaped AoE attacks (maneuvering is helped by the fact that Thunderbolt Lunge rooted its target)
6. Use Inexorable Tides to knock the targets on their butts
7. While the targets are trying to get up, I smack 'em with a fully-charged Dragon Kick (in addition to doing substantial damage, this also stuns its targets for 2 seconds, slightly increases my Avoidance for 12 seconds, reduces the energy costs of my melee attacks for a few seconds, and gives me a bit of extra energy)
8. If any henchmen are still standing, hit 'em with another Dragon Kick or Inexorable Tides to finish 'em off
9. If there's a villain, master villain, etc., hit him with a fully-charged Burning Chi Fist, which does substantial single-targe damage, does additional damage over time for the next 12 seconds, reduces the energy costs of my melee attacks for a few seconds, and gives me a bit of extra energy.
10. My 12-second Evasive Maneuvers buff is usually up by now, so I repeat the above steps until all mobs are defeated.
I keep my travel skill, Swinging, on all the time because its advantage (Flippin') increases my Dodge stat as long as I have Swinging toggled on. (You don't actually have to be swinging through the air to get the buff.) Unlike many other travel powers, the increased energy cost for keeping Swinging toggled on while fighting is minimal.
I run this build in Hybrid role.
I gear for DEX, STR, and CON, with a little bit of REC. Dodge and Avoidance stats are the key to this build, so I equip every piece of Dodge and Avoidance gear I can get. Cost Discount gear is also handy. Critical Chance, Critical Severity, and Offense are also nice, but are of secondary importance to the previously listed gear.
Start with lunge, then a tap of brimstone just to proc enrage, then a full brimstone/annihilate charge, remember to keep molecular self-assembly active at all time, this build is fairly energy hungry.
If you are fighting a single target, remember to keep 3 stacks of knocks on it so that you don't make it fly away with annihilate, you can do it by tap spamming brimstone at least 3 times.

This is the one I'm currently using, and It's performing fairly well so far.
Remember to keep molecular self-assembly active at all time, same for evasive maneuver, because dodge actually works with PFF, and it will greatly increase your survivability.
If you are getting heavily pounded, pop Masterful dodge and start blocking, attacks will barely scratch your shield most of the times, if instead your PFF gets deactivated, use Evasive Maneuver and Field Surge.
You can swap the last power (Resurrection Serum) for something else, I took it for theme reasons.

It has 3 points left over.
This is an old build that I used long time ago on this char, It can put out massive spikes of damage (Over 20.000 damage easily) every 3 - 4 seconds.
The only problem with this build is that it doesn't really have a reliable aoe, so I took implosion engine for more damage and to pin groups of mobs in one place so that I can nuke them with the power armor attack combo. Though you can swap Implosion engine for something else, it's not really needed.
I have more builds to share, but for now, have fun with these if you choose to use them.
Many thanks people. Sorry for the delay. I thought I had this thread subscribed so I'd get a notification when someone posted in it. Thought...WRONG apparently.
This one lets you take advantage of Invulnerability and during Boss Fights Maintain a stack of Defiance so you can be the Melee Mecha Tank of your dreams. Gear for Dodge and Avoidance and you'll shine as a Tank. Also gear to boost your crit chance. Because you're going to be getting healed from crits, being knocked/held and from being Enraged.
Hey Kenpo, just to let folks know about a Become Device that provides Audacity stacks (the buff from Quarry) Become Toy Soldier. It provides the buff and that buff carries over when the device is turned off. At least until the timer on the buffs wear off.
This is my first 40, just hit last week. I was, however, subbed for the first year. Some real life, a couple other games (yes, I'm also a refugee from the big game that closed last year). Anyway - this guy is pretty rockin' right now.
I did enough Unity missions to get his Heroic gear and get him geared up, plus burned the 40 respec (with a free and another one in case I need it).
However... while he can totally do elite content... I have not decided on the last couple powers and enhancements.
He can solo elite missions, and hold his own in Gravitar as long as I'm always ready to block (although NOT by any means tank).
Quarry, munitions, dual blades, with a splash of the mystical (Devour Essence and Ebon Void). It could be a leveling build... that's mostly what I leveled with.
Yes, I could SSS Ego... but that's what Audacity is for. He feels more survivable with Con. Yes, I spent several hours in the PTS powerhouse today, why do you ask? (twitch...)
It can do 5 man Hard for Purple Gang, DEMON, and Psi. Didn't have to burn Masterful Dodge on 5 man normal, did on Hard. Go figure. And this is without an active offense.

I've got his crit chance around 44%, severity about 110%, dodge ~57% and avoidance about 60%. I don't have great secondaries yet, but I'm pretty satisfied with him. Suggestions for the last two powers welcome.
I liked Ego Surge (Nimble Mind) for extra crits, and I liked Bionic Shielding for extra (and occasional teammate) healing. I've tried some of the ultimates - implosion engine is interesting... and I kinda liked Orbital Cannon. I also had Void Shift, but didn't really use it much.
But I'm not decided. I left the last couple power picks open on him because... he's pretty solid.
Mod for your stats and use Crit/Dodge/and Cooldown gear to give this build its maximum potiential
This build not only gives you a good melee TK with good defense, but also allows you to support teammates with your aura. Frenzy is for slowing down mobs and damaging them where they are andTelekinetic Maelstrom is your stun/opener against mobs, feel free to charge it for its damage. Force Cascade is your ranged attack for crowds, Pair it with ego surge for a fully charged and high damage attack. Anniliation is your HIGH spike damage power, use that when you have gained your stacks of ego leech. The lunge is your basic getting close enemys attack, espeically range mobs that move out of your range. Conviction and bountiful chi are your main heals, convitiction itself gives alot becuase of primal majesty's stat buff, but bountiful chi also works too. MAsterful dodge is just there for when you need it for those " OH NO" moments or for when fighting bosses. Finally in the list of powers is laser knight, reason for this is for its damage resistance buff, and sorta for that ego blade knight theme(Sword and Sheild).
Talents can be added accordingly to whatever you feel necessary to be up'ed, there are 5 extra advantage points left for either adding it to another power, or if you want to max your travel powers, nailed to the ground and crippling challenge can be taken out if you don't plan on fighting other people.
Dex is a main as it provides crit buffs in the spec tree along with vindictor and dex mastery, and the sentry tree is for its mild defense buffs, which help alot.
I have quite a few unique builds (including but not limited to those in my sig, which you're welcome to take right from there) that I can offer the Directory. Should I post them all here, or make a compilation thread over on the other forums?
Unfortunately due to my altaholism and ADHD character deletion I only have two 40s, a handful of 30+, but a s***load of completed builds just waiting for me to level them up.

I can set up the links from your sig later when I get a chance unless you want to include some kind of explanation with any of your builds. If that's the case you can post them wherever you like. Just let me know so I know where to link to.
Heh, yeah... a few of my builds probably could use some explaining. I'll post my top "original" builds over on the other forums. A few in my sig (and others) are based heavily on some that are already in the Directory (my Sorc/Celes Healer is basically Man.of.Light's "Light" build) and probably shouldn't be included.
This is an alternative to Night Avenger's play style. More emphasis on melee than ranged. Instead of being focused on openers, it offers more survivability and damage while being exposed. Stealth is less of a constant, but available for escaping or throwing up a few quick heals when needed. With enough cooldown gear and Int, you can however get Evasive Maneuvers down to an 8 second cooldown, so those opportunites could be often if wanted. 100% dodge and 70% avoidance is easily doable with Legion gear and dodge mods. Conviction is on a 3 sec cooldown, while Chi is on an 8 (for double stacks). Crit chance can hit the 50% mark, while severity lingers around 111% to 113%.
The goal is to stack Dex to 400, so FotT gives an impressive boost to melee and a good boost for ranged. As long as you stick with physical damage, Quarry will boost both your melee and ranged equally. Get your Int (secondary) up to 150 at least and Ego to 20. Audacity x3 will grant +50 to Int and Ego this way. You have 2 options with Con, your other secondary. Push for 200 and focus on survivability, or settle for 150 and invest a little into Str to get it to 70 (for minor knock resist & melee damage).
The build below is set up mainly for PvP, but I keep Bolas last on the list so I can switch it (and a few advantage points) out for PvE.
Super Stats: Level 6:Dexterity(Primary) Level 10:Constitution(Secondary) Level 15:Intelligence(Secondary)
Since i still can't make threads ever since PWE account merge ill post my builds here.
First one is more of an experiment. It will do fine for leveling but i want to make it viable for endgame tanking. Defiance and Inv must be dethroned for the height of tanking.
The main idea is to get the necesary dmg resist and dodge from gear. Since defense stats have high diminishing returns when stacking just one i decided to build for self survivability with some support powers and getting decent amounts of defense from items, specializations and the dmg debuffs. Since the point is to tank the high self heals and the SSS Presence will raise your threat through the roof. I doubt any dps build out there could steal agro from you and since you have your own heals healers can focus on keeping others alive and since they are all instant cast or HOTs you do not lose DPS to stop and heal yourself. Also compasion will proc from the sentinel aura, illumination (from what i know) and mindful reinforcements which sadly does not work on regeneration but will buff the sentinel aura, BCR, COPD and mindful reinforcement and possibly the heal from the mend buff as well.
Will post the rest of my builds here once i get home.
Here's a new version of a build I posted. This one uses Regen, IDF and Laser Knight on the Energy Shield. The thing to gear for is power cost (Laser Sword gets expensive with the advantage). And of course gearing for Crits and Dodge is a given. This build should (I've just started playing it) stand up to just about anything in pve in Hybrid mode to maximize Regen's heal. In hybrid all your super stats and presence boost your bonus healing which provides a secondary boost to Regen.
My first freeform slot and my most resilient build to date, quite happy wading through crowds of villains or (with some care and timing) keeping Gravitar's attention if there isn't a dedicated tank to draw her (f)ire. Several people have asked me for details of this build since it seems to perform well in most content.
A smelly dog theme build with a couple of powers tacked on because they're so useful in extreme circumstances.
Hybrid role seems to fit best, but you could drop into Protector if you'd prefer a little more defense (and the 10% HP boost Bulwark provides).
Leap in and waft your delightful doggy scent around, then slurp the life out of whatever's left standing!
A little annoying to level until you get epidemic, but from then on it's a very easy build for missions or alerts (in which you'll be tanking 90% of the time). Epidemic will clear henchmen with ease, anything more resistant is just a chance to top up your health with Devour Essence (Which is a melee attack, buffed by your Strength and the stacks of Focus). For tough encounters like alerts, Ego surge + Masterful Dodge as you scamper into the fray, a quick howl to give yourself a single stack of enrage and fear all enemies in range then Epidemic until all but the boss have fainted. Tap Defile to debuff then Pounce and Devour Essence, possibly mixing in Epidemic to keep 10 stacks of poison in effect.
The only Tank specific power is the Crippling Challenge advantage on Pounce, tap between maintains of DE if you wish to keep aggro from anything but 'proper' tanks (And as a matter of course when fighting the Baron - it disables his doll block)
Conviction is very handy for a quick top up of your health between maintains of Epidemic, it crits for 2.2K, Circle of Primal Dominion is for really tough, knock happy bosses like Gravitar and Vikorin. Getting a few stacks of Voracious Darkness will help enormously with survivability against Golden bubbles or Lemurian lava temple floors. (My thanks to SnakeWildlife for showing me the usefulness of the Circle and Ebon Void)
Gear at 40 should be for crits, dodge and avoidance, with enough Recovery to keep Supernatural Power working smoothly (What works perfectly at 40 will need adjustment for Alerts that SK you to 30).
For Primaries I'm using Heroic Offense and Defense, Verdure Overlay of the Elder Worms (Gives 140 stat boost! - From defeating Slug on Monster Island) with R7 mods. Secondaries: Vigilante crit Offense and Cost reduction Utility, with purple 40 Defense.
Dex 300, Con 250, Str 200, Rec 90.
There are probably choices that are sub optimal, especially in the spec tree, please feel free to suggest improvements!

@CanisErectus- Scampering around, biting bad guys since July 2011.
Latest Soviet Build (link to thread in my signature). Same goal as before: tanking with casual duel capabilities. This time with higher DPS. For use at level 40 only.
So, all that Telepathy talk on the forums gave me some ideas, and after seeing Cyrone's video of her telepath I decided to give it a try.
I came up with 2 builds:
And oh boy I'm having a lot of fun with this build, both in solo and in groups. With sentinel mastery, you will be constantly healing every time you stun or incapacitate, making you and your teammates night invulnerable against group of enemies, plus, you have ebon sigils.
The only problem with this build is that it's quite energy intensive, at least until telepathic reverberation kicks in.
An ideal attack patterns every time you open confrontation with a group of enemies should be: Telekinetic Maelstrom, Ego Sprites and ego storm.
EDIT: This build will perform much better (though you will do less damage) if you swap Ego Form for Seraphim and play it in support role, you won't have any kind of energy issue + your healings and holds will be much stronger, in fact I recommend taking something like empathic healing or even Iniquity to heal others.
*
Anyway, because we are using Int as our main SS, there isn't really a reason not to use quarry as passive. I swapped telepathic reverberation for Molecular Self-assembly because you have a lot of powers with short cooldowns, so it's going to kick in quite regularly, energy shouldn't be an issue with this version of the build (though I have to admit I didn't test this build yet, so I might be wrong).
Because we swapped telepathic reverberation for Molecular Self-assembly, ego blast is pretty useless now, so I decided to swap it for telekinetic lance, after all, we are using Telekinetic Maelstrom that gives ego leech, so it was quite a no-brainer to me.
You aren't going to deal the same amount of damage of the first build, but your holds will be stronger, you will have a more easy energy management and decreased cooldowns.
Oh and btw, in boths build there is 1 power slot open and 2 advantages point left over, my suggestion would be rebirth, or ego placate with svengali's guile.
This one started out with LR back when the game started. At that time, minions would destroy you - thus, Thunderclap to get breathing room. For leveling, it was a dual-passive LR/Quarry build.
However, it desperately needed a range attack, and Ricochet Throw has proven to be amazingly good. Good enough that at 40, I decided to try Night Warrior. Arguably, it's less damage and defense than Quarry, but the stealth, Shadow Strike, and additions to Ricochet Throw from Stealth make up for it.
At 40, the character is mostly for Unity farming, alerts for Q, and Gravitar and the like. So the build needed to be pretty sturdy. I had leveled a Regenerator recently, and switched THAT build to Invuln at 40 (and missed healing). So, I tried both LR and Regen as secondary passives on this one, and have enjoyed Regen greatly. Did Gravitar with only one death, and that was due to not blocking while in melee / night warrior. Oops. No trouble in Hybrid Regen mode.
I know the build could be different in several places, so I've left a space after 29 - the core of the build is done then, and there are other options you could do.
It could be a leveling build, and I realize it looks quite a bit like Night Warrior, but that was unintentional - originally, it was based on a CoH flying claws scrapper I used to have. BUT Fighting Claws only has a handful of good powers: Dragon's Claws, really, although Vipers Fangs has grown on me. The shredded debuff is WAY better than it was early on.
LR or Quarry instead of Regen as the second passive for more dodge, but with Dodge gear and Evasive Manuevers, I went with Regen this go-round.
Throwing Blades instead of Vipers Fangs for more AOE goodness and to take advantage of Night Warrior. I like the debuff for bosses more than the AOE, so I went with Viper's Fangs.
Energy Shield / Laser Knight or Parry / Elusive Monk or Ebon Void / Voracious Darkness instead of Retaliation.
Ego Surge instead of the block.
Thing is, this is NOT intended to be a dedicated tank at all. Instead, a survivable damage dealer. Retaliation helps do more damage (if attacked...). LK and EM drop damage by 10%, and BCR already does that. They were out. I know and enjoy the value of Ebon Void on many characters, but I wanted something different for this one. Hitting harder is more enjoyable.
Using Heroic gear at 40, dodge/avoidance, crit strike, and cooldown reduction mostly.
Explanation:
Night Warrior is a fun offensive passive, if you like the stealthy assassin type. Shadow Strike is kinda nuts in a good way - from Melee mode, with Night Warrior, it strikes for 21k - enough to wipe out Super Villains (on easy, anyway). Night Warrior doesn't really *help* Fighting Claws, per se, but they did match claws with the passive in the AT.
For Unity missions, Night Warrior and Ricochet Throw and Shadow Strike are pretty much all you need. Or if I get in trouble, Masterful Dodge / Evasive Manuevers / BCR. No trouble after that!
For tanking alerts (if I'm the only 40), or if it's a REALLY tough boss like Gravitar ... switch to Hybrid Regen mode, and go to town. The Dex specializations including Expose Weakness guarantees the boss' attention. It's not enough usually to take away from a dedicated tank, but if there's no tank in an alert - I'm it. Regen in Tank mode can work as well.
Fighting Gravitar worked best as a meleer in Regen Hybrid so far.
Some of the fun elements:
Vipers Fangs x3 (Shredded), then block for Retaliation buff, then fully charged Dragon's Claws, for crazy crit fun and the Rush buff.
Ricochet Throw from stealth.
Retaliation buff, then Thunderclap, then Ricochet Throw.
For triggering MSA, Pounce, Thunderclap, Evasive Maneuvers and BCR all have short cooldowns.
Form of the Tempest for more damage and good energy.
It's fun. Wasn't originally intended as a stealth character, but there you are.
Comments
Doc Montblanc - Techno-shields/support
Xenophon - Centralized, high-damage AoE tank.
Assassin, Barbarian, and Cleric - Melee stealth, high-impact tanking, and support, respectively.

Anyway, added pugdaddy. Many thanks.

Notes:

Unfortunately due to my altaholism and ADHD character deletion I only have two 40s, a handful of 30+, but a s***load of completed builds just waiting for me to level them up.
My 40s: Munitions, Electricity, TK Blades, Gadgeteering DPS
Other toons: Fire, Heavy Weapons Tank, Dual Blades, Fightning Claws, AoRP Support, Bestial Supernatural, Archery,
TK Ranged, Infernal Tank, Ice DPS, Laser Sword, Heavy Weapons DPS
I can set up the links from your sig later when I get a chance unless you want to include some kind of explanation with any of your builds. If that's the case you can post them wherever you like. Just let me know so I know where to link to.

Using Demolish and Arc of Ruin to stack debuffs, and then cycling Annihilate > Eruption for huge damage spikes.
I tried a Cleave focused build before on another character, but it just didn't feel that powerful.

Vindicator: Aggressive Stance (2/2)
Vindicator: Merciless (3/3)
Vindicator: Focused Strikes (2/3)
Vindicator: Mass Destruction (3/3)
Mastery: Sentinel Mastery (1/1)
This is the one I'm currently using.

Yeah, quarry...
What?

2 points unspent. Might go to Retaliation or BCR eventually.

Vindicator: Aggressive Stance (2/2)
Vindicator: Merciless (3/3)
Vindicator: The Rush of Battle (2/3)
Vindicator: Focused Strikes (3/3)
Mastery: Dexterity Mastery (1/1)
