This build is scheduled to hit PTS by 2:00pm Pacific on 3/20/13

Greetings!

We're updating PTS with this build to test stability. There are not specific changes for you to test, but we are interested in hearing about any unusual behavior or bugs that you notice that did not exist in previous builds.

A good way to test this is to do some missions or alerts to see if they are working in the way you would expect.

Please format any bugs you find in the following format:

    This notice sounds weird. From my experience working on the Video Game programming and such, that is.

    I personally don't have lots of time this week, but I suggest you guys whom post below me actually go test everything, I got this feeling that something big is going to happen, (and yes, it may include stuff breaking, though nobody would like to see that.) or they are hiding something from us.

    Is this something that will expand the game's capabilities or remove some to make maintaining it with a skeleton crew easier?

    Do all the things that are already broken about doing missions, etc... count?

    Cause currently basically every adventure pack and comic series on live have major issues, some which make them unfinishable under normal circumstances (Notably the Demonflame last boss fight with Luther Black being a terrifying bugged mess.) or have cutscene bugs which are embarassingly bad.

    All you have to do is play through them, they're glaringly obvious bugs. And on that note, I really hope another code merge doesn't break everything even more...

    I will be spending the next 5-6 hours of my life running all of the packs, by the by. I'll be adding to this post as I run into bugs mostly real time, so keep an eye out devs!


    5 seconds in and:

    BUG:

    The pickup mission for Whiteout is gone, from the game, nowhere to be found.

    BUG:

    The pickup mission for Aftershock is missing from the game as well.

    BUG:

    Zoning into Serpent Lantern's first area resulted in me falling through the ground into infinity and then being logged out of the game.


    *cough* New lockbox *Cough*

    I opened 5 of them, and I hit the jackpot and got Legion's gloves of piercing, rank 7 mods, and a become mummy device (Which I really hope is supposed to be a become gladiator device but that isn't hooked up yet.). Go me!

    BUG:

    In the final room of Serpent Lantern, after defeating the Spirit Serpent, the "Leave" prompt action button takes up basically the whole interior of the boss room. Which has now caused me to lose my rewards from the bossfight by "pressing 'z'" accidentally on the leave prompt the last ten times I've fully run SL.

    It would be nice if the volume for that activator was reduced a bit, at least so that it isn't overlapping the boss itself where the loot spawns.

    BUG:

    There used to be a cutscene at the beginning of the Heart in Man's Dementia tower in Demonflame where the demon key would poof mid-sentence and leave you alone to fight through the tower, coming back later revealing it was all happening in your mind. It's gone now.

    *Edit*: It seems that this might be linked to the fact that the Demon Key just flat out no longer actually begins following you after you talk to him at the beginning of each tower. He Kinda just catches up after you're halfway done with each section, and occasionally gets stuck permanently and requires resetting of the instance to get him to move.


    BUG:

    After the tower of Lethargy and Despair, witchcraft just stands outside with the: "Looks like Black has power over the denizens of this realm. They are coming to stop us! Get ready!" dialogue widow forever, even after defeating the incoming mobs and all nearby mobs. She's supposed to move on and give the teleport to the next tower option again.

    BUG:

    In the tower of the King of Lost Hope, during the cutscene before the Left Hand fight, the Demon key just decides to wander off in the middle of speaking, his voice trailing off as he leaves the room and heads back down the hallways out of sight.

    BUG:

    The fight with Luther Black in the tower of The Edomite is still a total mess, possibly more so now than on live.

    First off, Luther immediately ascends into edomite form right off the bat, which is only supposed to happen in the last couple minutes of the event.

    Second, he phases in and out of having his immunity bubble, which again, he is only supposed to have in about the last minute.

    Third, he constantly summons his minions as usual. But without a build quick enough to kill them off in seconds, he stacks a power buff on them so quickly that they can become larger than the room and literally invulnerable, having hundreds of thousands of HP and instantly re-healing. Not to mention dealing thousands of damage with each spam attack they make.

    Finally, the last cutscene is still bugged to this day. The demon key says in speech bubble: "At last you are free of this task..." but his voice dialogue just repeats the line from the previous tower of the King of Lost Hope: "The last is freed!"


    And with uh, that, i guess I'm done, I've lost the morale to get through resistance tonight. Maybe someone else will take up the challenge.

    What about the bugs that I know are still there even though i haven't logged in in months?

    BUG - Cape Glide: Upon deactivation of the cape glide travel power, your character's cape takes two to three seconds to reappear.

    Can you at least just give us the ability to customize the color of our vehicles!?

    Got one of the new lockboxes :) Loadout looks pretty sweet actually. Might actually put some keys towards this set.

    I do hope we can get some shots of the become devices.

    Also: I think the gladiator pieces from Nemcon should be added.

    Bug:
    Ice Cage R2 and R3 damage and explosion damage are not scaling with any stat at all.


    And just as a suggestion. Can you pretty please add the old "aura" effect of Imbue to the new AO imbue? It was a pretty impressive graphic asset that would be really cool to have back... and also that it would be really good to have a graphical way to tell when imbue is on.

    Bug:
    The fourth color slot on the tailor is sticking instead of previewing a color.
    Several costume pieces are unlocking per character only instead of to the entire account, such as the Demon and Lemurian sets.
    The Warlord bracer is only available on the left slot in the Chest Gear category and a few others, causing it to not be available for both sides of the bracer slot.

    Still at work and cannot do any testing... however with the huge list already out, it seems that many things are broken with this new patch.

    Not sure what has been changed but it is quite amazing that the entire setup of the game engine would be so restrictive as to create so many problems for future expansion and changes down the road. It might be good if the devs could at least inform us what exactly they have changed so that the testers can hazard a guess what to push and poke around for likely bugs. It is impressive that sanguineviper could and actually bothered to test out so many things. I don't think just a new lock box or a new become device or new set of vehicles will create so much problem.

    I will see what I can try out tonight when I get home.

    Are those 3 costume pieces the lost ones from Nemcon? Because I'd like to know so I don't waste them and instead sell them to other players. Unless these are fitted to show that you unlocked a certain piece already.

    What? New gladiator costume pieces? Chariot? Imperator? OMG what are those...

    I hope the new vehicles have a fantasy touch instead of all the usual techie ones. I would certainly like a pegasus-drawn chariot. Now that they are able to scale toons to appear on vehicles, horses, unicorns, pegasus should be do-able no? Although it will be really, really weird having a flight computer, nanite booster or gravitic pulse installed on a unicorn LOL. And no, please do not give us another set of mods because my inventory is filled with r4 and r5 mods of ALL sorts already leaving little space for anything else.

    We have Doomlord and Celestial (with AoE rezz), wonder what an Imperator does...

    Bugs located so far

    [1]

    Neighborhood: Stroessen's Peak
    Location: 2007 168 1122

    Crates needed for the "Collecting Components" mission are floating in mid air outside the base of Telios' tower well above where a ground based character can actually reach them.

    When I open the Alert's screen using /alert there is a large two inch, by two inch white box over it as if an image is missing.

    The starter mission for Whiteout is not displaying anywhere as an active choice.



    Note: Wasn't able to try any alerts, no one else on PTS at that moment to form a team.

    Yeah, I'm gonna have to agree with the others here - it's getting very hard figuring out what's a new bug, and one that has been around like for freakin' EVER.

    I've been running around on test and got a Forum Malvanum lock box drop. Is there a way to open it on PTS since it requires a cosmic key?

    Oh that's right, management decision, don't want someone previewing something cause they might never buy it on live.

    Yep, just copy over a character with like 5 keys to pts about 50 times or something, and put them all in your account bank on pts. Easy.

    Great. More stuff we won't be able to just buy from the Z-Store. Thanks, guys. :(

    I'm not buying or opening any of these either. Legion Gear should be attainable via normal gameplay, as should the costume pieces. Your stupid vehicle can stay in the lockbox.

    Goodness, this does look interesting..., so I'm hoping this is leading up to the new event and auras in one then we can finally focus on important things...like..you know.. telepathy :3

    I think we know the direction of the game. I'm not being snotty about it.. but my inclination to keep paying for a game that might get the ax soon.. is waning. I felt really burned by the sudden way COH was shut down. I can't really go through that again. I'm not QQ'ng or finger pointing. None of that does any good. But I am not renewing my sub either.

    Unless Cryptic does something to show me that Champions matters to them, it just doesn't make sense to pay for a game that's never updated.. ever. I think plenty of other ex-COH folks probably feel like I do too. They just don't post on the message board. Instead, they silently cancel their subs and move on. It's sad really, I want to give Cryptic my money! Please take my money... LOL. It just doesn't look like our money is something they are interested in.

    I'm not going to test. This kind of code merge crap should be done with a group of QA testers. You know, the QA testers you carted off to Neverwinter? Can we have a list of developers working on CO so we can have an idea of who's doing what and who to talk to about more sensitive bugs?

    2 points to make off of this.

    1. When will we begin to even remotely acknowledge "bugs that DID exist in previous builds(or since beta)"?
    2. You do realize that most of the time testing alerts is not possible, right? If you would like log onto PTS and shoot me a tell(if I'm on, of course) I will do my best to pull a team over and you can do them together with us. :wink:

    I do play STO from time to time. But it is kind of boring and all the grinding involved is just tedious. The game also has worse RP than CO. And that is saying a lot, I think.

    Looking at the new lockbox also confirms all my fears. The only thing that had me going for CO was the char creator, and now it seems like future costumes will be in chance boxes of scamming. The joy.

    on the upside though, so far in my testing the drop rate on the lockboxes is closer to perfect...only 1 out of 7 drops were lockboxes...at least for me..

    Bug:
    Damaged objects have collision detection issues

    Where it Happens:
    Any area with destroyable objects like the crates in the Powerhouse

    What happens:
    When a crate in the Powerhouse has been damaged, for example by using an Energy Builder on it, attempting to jump and walk on the crate will cause the character to bob in and out of the crate. Kind of like the crate was made of jello.

    What happens

    The description for the main villain, Eclipse, reads: Crowns_Of_Krim_Bloodstone, instead of the expected background.

    I can confirm this issue, it's been around for a while now, I'd like to see it get fixed as soon as possible, as it seems to be stopping me from playing my main character.

    Its not like I'm going to test or anything. Not unless I get rewarded for wasting my time to test the [insert unspecified thing to test here]. I mean if I wanted to waste my time in game, it might as well be on live where it benefits my characters progressing in resources, items or even questionite.

    there are also NO bugfixes, or new costumes

    If the game is not on mainentance mode this must simply be a bug :tongue:

    Nope. You gotta do the copy thing or else you aren't gonna be previewing any lockboxes. :P

    Maybe next patch will introduce the PTS Testers Lockbox with a chance to get more keys so you can test more lockboxes easier! :biggrin:

    I still wait for "one of the next patches" where we should get back the C-Store on the PTS, like Robobo promised us in January 2011 :frown:

    If they do what they did with cape glide, just automatically have it unlocked on the PTS, for any new stuff they make then in theory we wouldn't need to have a PTS C-store I think.

    For a patch like this they should either put keys or even the new lockbox items themselves in the Debugger's store so we can actually test things without making dozens of copies of a toon that has keys on live.

    Speaking of the lockbox, has anyone actually got the chariot from it yet? I was wondering if its been made yet or has some kind of placeholder the way the become gladiator seems to have the Become Mummy in it's place for now.

    From my understanding, the description is of the new box, but what you get as rewards are the old Tako boxes.

    Give it a patch or two - no doubt they weren't ready to reveal what was in the new dropbox just yet.

    Stop being so negative! It's not like they havent released the updates for telepathy, put them on LIVE and people are using them! - Said No One Ever.

    Yeah, I agree with you, prolly should hold off the key buying for testing..
