Many moons ago there was a fun thread here about a shotgun build. The first two powers were melee to prevent anything from shotgun going off to ruin the continuity. Everything else was strictly to support the shotgun. Very fun, but the problem was that the active offensives all gave you visual spam. Immolation, Shadow Shroud....very messy. Furthermore the new changes to forms add options that didn't exist previously.
For historical purposes, here is the original build and discussion:

I am going to give you the JudgeBot take on the build, show you why I chose what I chose, post a video of him taking down Demon on Five Man and Hard settings, and also list some viable options you can choose to deviate from what I am using. Tips for gear, and of course, I will answer any questions you may have. As always, totally open to feedback.

Okay just as in the original thread, we start by using
Clobber
Your next power can go with the original build and use
Beatdown but for quality of life, I HIGHLY recommend
Iron Cyclone. Not only does it give you the AoE to make early leveling a breeze, it's a maintain which plays into our skill tree to feed back into
Shotgun as you will see.
We take our passive early in
Defiance. This keeps us slotted in a Hybrid mode, however there are few solo builds easier to level than this one. Early on, if you have agro it will feel like energy just rains from the sky. Also you are hard to kill. Double tap on the winning.
Shotgun Blast is our last attack power ever, and we took it at level 8. Since this is the bread and butter of the build, we go R3. The knock advantage is only useful if
Shotgun Blast is a backup power. Here, we need to rank it for damage, because it's really the main thing we are going to be doing all day.
Retaliation is our block because it lacks visual spam, and it adds damage to our next attack, which is probably
Shotgun Blast.
Our heal is
Resurgence
Our energy unlock is
Molecular Self-Assembly
. With all of your cool-downs you are going to come out ahead of the munitions option, because your trusty shotgun just isn't rapid fire, so crits are more of a spiked event and dependent on the number of folks in the opposing crowd.
Concentration is our form for a few reasons. We are going to rank and gear INT up the wazoo for cool-down reduction...for all those cool-downs. Well this ranks with INT too. Also it feeds energy. Also it increased damage. The thing about it is, you have to be hitting with your shotgun at better than 50' for the stack. Piece of cake. Also your chain o' pain will stack this if you hold the maintain long enough and/or hit at the triggering distance. Wading into a crowd with the chain a swingin' will often max this in a tick.
Next we have our three Active Offensives. If you gear to REC and Cool-down reduction, you should be able to have one active at all times. In fact, sometimes two will be stacked for a second.
Lock N Load, Intensity and Ego Surge are all at R3, so you constantly have an R3 Active Offense running. Oh...well Ego Surge...you can R3 that bad boy or take the Crit-enhancing option. Either way, it's a win. I believe these to be the least visually spammy Active Offenses, which is a huge improvement over the old version of the build.
Now we also have three "on next hit" powers.
Toxic Nanites, Sonic Device, Miniaturization Drive. Since you will be throwing one of these ever 12 to 20 seconds (depending on how much cool-down you have rocking) we rank these up too. More damage, all day, every day.
Travel powers are often trivial, but the Flippin' advantage gives you more dodge. Worth a try.
Specializations
Fuel My Fire Extra energy just for taking damage
Resiliant Pulls off some of the knock you would otherwise take.
Deflection Dodge is always helpful
Adrenaline Rush Heals for doing crits.
Ruthless Increases crit severity
Anguish Gives penetration to the damage of that shotgun
Round 'Em Up Your AoE damage (shotgun) makes further AoE damage more damagy.
Relentless Assault Your maintain (Iron Lariat) increases offense for 8 seconds...and stacks up to 8 times
Offensive Expertise Reduces cooldown on your active offensives...and you have three of them so this is just full of win
Merciless Increase crit severity more
Rush of Battle Every baddie defeated feeds you health
Offensive Expertise Yeah...you get to take it a second time. More cooldown for more active offense goodness
Mass Destruction More crits from AoE (shotgun)
Constitution Mastery More HP
Here is a video showing several things.
1) Taking down a platform with just the shotgun.
2) How to use the chain to shrink a group of baddies.
3) How low you can go on HP without feeling stressed. I only use Resurgence once, and then it is illustrative.
4) At the end all gear and stats are shown.

Here is the statistical breakdown of a Red Winter. El Oso did more the 50% of the total damage. While the sub 600 DPS may look low, remember there is a trip between baddies and a cut-scene in the mix.
.
Comments
As another benchmark of El Oso's performance...JB tanked a Therakiel's Temple with this setup without too much trouble. Considering it's not specifically built to be a "tank", I'd say that's pretty good.

Having said that...I think I will copy him over to test and make a movie tonight and see how it goes. It might actually turn out that with the INT and the other Offensive Expertise from the Vindicator tree that I keep one up all the time anyway.
I will let you know how it goes.

I just ran a run on test with the specialization tree changes and it was a hoot.
I am uploading now. Should be ready in about two hours.
If I were going to slot in Demolish I would probably also slot in some rage as well. With the new knock trigger, shotgun should feed that all day. Give it the growth advantage, and some love from Reciprocating Gizmo and you would have a great growth build. Plus we won't be stacking Concentration if we never get outside of that 50' zone, and with the shift in focus more toward melee anyway....
I think I will try that on test tonight actually. Probably make another movie.

150 minutes left on the upload. LOL but I will post it here when it is done.
I took out nearly a whole platform of Demon, 5 man team, hard with the chain in about 30 seconds. It was sick-diculous.
I am glad you are having fun with it. I thought folks would dig it if they tried it. I can see lots of ways to play it and tweak it for play-style. Ghost-Rider, Space Biker, revenge fantasy sheriff...LOL
Slot enrage in there with the growth advantage and Reciprocating Gizmo on a chain full of baddies would make this a really good growth build.
Platform two goes down fast. The first 30 seconds are just the chain and it really chews through them. It's pretty illustrative of the change in dynamic of the play here.
