can we get separate chat servers? This is getting confusing.

What's on the tin.

God, I was on a buncha channels for that neverwinter beta, and I hate this. Trade is gonna be a mess. WTB identify scrolls so I can identify my ship I got from the takofanes lockbox.

It's getting absurd. Does any other pwe product share a chat server? Does our zone match sto's?

At least let us flag a channel as open to all, so I know to not add that one. I'm damn near removing all of my channels over this. I'm in a super hero RPG, and when someone says "I'm teaming with a Rogue" I hear clone.

What doesn't help: players purposefully reserving NWO-themed channels way in advance, just to mess with people.

Alas. There is a lot of animus towards NWO.

    Also, some people are jerks.

While it has its fair share of inconveniences, it is also truth that some advantages derives from having them. For instance, they can be really convenient for multigame guilds. People playing more than one game more chances of revenue.

It's great for my multigame friends to keep in touch.

It'd be nice to have the ability to flag a channel as game-specific, but that's unlikely. In the meantime, if you have a private channel that's game-specific, maybe append the name.

    So, CO-SilverKings, NW-SilverKings, STO-SilverKings.

Cryptic probably reserved all the channel names for us so when we finally get onto NWO, no one can take the channel names. Sort of like the PWE merger.

I very much appreciate the ability to chat between games and access the chat server from outside of game. I would not vote to change this.

Although I am opposed to using the /ignore chatban system to grief others, it does not seem inappropriate to ignore people posting non CO related messages in a channel created by CO players for CO related use.

Color my channels? *CO*rp was just about 90% neverwinter yesterday. To the point where I was getting confused because I'd think something was being discussed about the game the channel is friggin named after, and nope. There's no amount of channel coloring that'll help the fact that all day yesterday every channel was full of a combination of neverwinter, sto, and co chat. It's getting pretty annoying to try to sort it all, and I can't imagine what the trade channel is gonna turn into after beta ends.

Hell, I'd be happy with a toggle in the options to ignore chat in other games. I turned off most of my channels yesterday as a result of this. Channels like CoX? Yeah, fine, that's a shared interest channel that I can easily just ignore which game they're talking about. I don't really have any "ONLY CO GUISE!" rules set on talkytalk, either, because it's an open social channel, so where you're at when you're bsing doesn't matter. But stuff like Trade and other specific utility channels?

I'm half tempted to nip it in the bud and make "Champions Trade" or something, because while I find the cross-game chatter annoying? I think the trade thing is just gonna get downright messy. I already have a hard enough time telling vehicle parts and sto gear apart, and I can't be alone in this. I had hope at first that players would sort this out themselves, but STO still shares trade with CO, years after launch. I don't have a lot of hope for the community sorting it out themselves, barring the CORP people, who I gather have STORP (or whatever) as well and are generally pretty on point about this stuff.

I mean no offense, but I can't see as if stuff like managing multi-game guilds is really a problem the average player is gonna face. However, I know for a fact that at least one major guild in game is currently splitting time between CO and GW2, and they somehow manage to sort it out. In fact, my primary SG is looking to split time between NWO and CO, and I still think splitting the servers is a great idea. I can say for certain that being confused over what people are trying to sell in which game, and which game the scammer is being called out from? This might pose a problem, and lead to serious issues.

'course, I'm possibly partially bitter because they were talking about an event on CORP last night, and I didn't go because I couldn't figure out which game they were talking about. That was the beginning of my "screw merged chat servers" thought process.

I simply can't see a reason why we've got a setup like this. Like I said, I've never seen anything like it anywhere else.

What they should do is put a game-specific tag on chat - like "CO" for Champions, "ST" for Star Trek, "NW" for Neverwinter, etc...

That, or create 'Trade_Neverwinter' and such...

If it is the *CO* rp channel ask the people to demonstrate some comm discipline and keep it to CO only.

I still only have the default channels. I don't get any cross-chatter from the other games; the closest I get is when I'm playing STO and get a notice that Caliga's logged into CO.

Maybe the issue is the people in the channel, not the chat server itself. Just a thought...

This and what was mentioned earlier about comm discipline. Strictly CO channels should stay strictly CO. Other general type channels, not so much. Hopefully it won't be as big of an issue once NW finally launches.

Well if anyone feels the need, "NWO Trade" and "CO Trade" channels have been made and is public. So I guess we should eventually make the change to use those and use the old Trade channel for across all games.

100% this. The ability to chat with friends and SG mates cross-game without the need for third party software is invaluable.

I wish I was new. This game is a lot more fun when everything is new, and it makes it easy to overlook all the bad stuff. Once you've been around for a while, you get way too comfortable whipping out the phrase "sloppy implementation"... I've seen porn where they inserted something new into something old in a less sloppy way! waka waka!
