I saw flaming nightmares in Neverwinter, slap some wings on them suckers an let us fly them.

Oh and I guess support for rag doll too since I am here.

Once upon a time there was rag doll on the PTS Server
but cryptic deleted it cause it wasn't compatible with the knockback/fall damage.

Ragdoll was enabled in the beta and consequently disabled when it actually worked with knock attacks. Anything that could knock you would put your toon into ragdoll mode until he/she landed and recovered.

Considering the already "floaty" physics of the game, you'd also slide along the ground for quite a distance after landing.

Imagine how annoying that would be against the multitude of mobs with knocks in the game.

Why cite an older version of the game as a counterpoint? Beta is irrelevant.

Okay then. Think about being COMPLETELY unable to take any sort of mitigation (self-healing, run away, etc, etc) while numerous entities are knocking you about, blasting you into other mobs that then aggro on you, knocking you about more.

Combined with the relatively long ranges of enemy attacks and homing-boulder physics, this basically translates into a minute or two of solid "WTF? COME ON! *DEAD!*"

    Knock is already that way.

Now imagine if it was even worse.

    I'll be specific.
Have you observed the current iteration of ragdoll in Neverwinter to cause any of the problems that you are referring to?

I am not talking about anything that has occurred in Beta, 2010 Blood Moon, or even in CO.

I'll admit, I'd like to see some form of ragdoll or additional animations just to spice up combat a bit. STO at least has something besides repeated faceplant we see in Champs over and over. Ragdoll would be optimal, though, and it'd add a lot more dynamic to fights, knockback, etc.

I agree with Brou. However, the game has far higher priority issues than just that at the moment. I don't know how the engine tweaking to CO's engine to be in line with STO and NWN's version would affect how viable an addition it'd be, but I imagine it'd be significant work even still.

Still, it'd be nice to see one day. Think I'll take expansions and more content first above all-else, though. However, if it's an easy add, I'd say do it. I think it'd be hilarious to send a VIPER mook twenty blocks with one swing of a fist or energy blast.

Oh. Oh. How about this amazing compromise: ONLY RAGDOLL ON DEATH!?

Sure, why not? It'd solve a lot of the eternally knocked back/stunned/geometry issues that are sure to come up.

That is actually what NW seems to do. Which also can look very, very goofy if they die from a weak hit (as mobs just sorta 'fold' over into themselves).

This is what Neverwinter does, except no matter what, it is only for NPC's; at no time have I seen ragdoll style physics on any player character, either being knocked back by an attack or on defeat.

Even ragdoll on death would have potential issues with rez powers. You know, those things people never use.

Hey, I have a healer who has one. Which admittedly yes, only gets used during Gravitar battles to heal those who fell over, but I do have it.

Offender has a res also, mainly only used in Gravitar because in any other case, people release right away.

Ditto this. I'd use my rez power a LOT more if people waited for me to try to rez them. Typically, I only get to rez in Gravitar or if I'm hanging out in Ren Cen and there are people dueling.
