Vibora Bay - Incredibly Disappointing...

So I just got onto Lifetime and decided I really needed to dive into this game and see what all is there and what all is not. Was disappointed to see no Foundry to add to the game, and had this in mind while heading into Vibora Bay (normally skipped) with my new character.

And Vibora Bay is just plain disappointing. Compared to the other areas, it has one very linear storyline and that's it? For a city thats about 1/4 to 1/3 the size of Millenium City? Come on! If youre not going to let players add to the game the least you could do is add to Vibora, the CO version of New Orleans. Very, VERY disappointing.

Might I ask, do you mean Vibora instance, or the Apocalypse? Because the instance has a lot of missions to do.

I like Vibora bay, 2nd favorite zone after Monster Island.

My guess is that he did the mid-level Vibora Bay mission arc that they added a while back. It's meant to be a quick run.

A fuller version of Vibora Bay is accessible after the Apocolypse story arc you get at level ~37. There's a ton of missions.

Around lvl 22, the Queen City arc in VB merely introduces you to the idea that the place exists.

The Apocalypse is linear by design - you accidentally kick-started the End of the World (or what the SCP Foundation would call an XK-class End-of-World scenario), and you have to follow a given series of steps to fix it.

After that, though, you're in a much larger zone than you were before; and while there are specific tasks that must be accomplished in order to make sure the Apocalypse doesn't happen again, they're no more "linear" than any other set of missions in the game.

    Which VB were you in?

As others were saying, at level 22.

Even the Apocalypse (which should be available to start at level 34, visit Jury-Rig in Ren Center) ist not fully linear and includes a number of missions you can skip or, in some cases, completely miss.

And the actual full zone contains a boatload of excuses to grind for costume drops

Also, Vibora is in the Florida Panhandle, not New Orleans and it's pronounced Vy Bohra against all logic. Just so you know.

    There was a whole thing...

They need to have some type of message come up after the level 22 mission...

"Remember to return to Vibora Bay when you reach level 35! The apocalypse awaits!"

Anything to let people know that "This is just the tip of the iceburg, folks!"

Normally skipped? Oh, let me guess... you're a person who levels only via farming Smash Alerts right?

This sounds ignorant; there's certainly a lot more than one storyline -- including hommages to Buffy Summers (Joss Whedon's popular 90's TV series) and even making fun of Twilight's sparkling vampires & horribly bad acting.

As the others mentioned, there are actually 3 Vibora Bay "zones"
    • the prelude "Queen City", for level 20's to 25's
    • the apocalypse (introduces you to two of the best villians in the game, Valerian and Therakiel)
    • the normal zone, which is actually in the past (you'll have to play the apocalypse to understand what I mean by that)

The normal zone also has arguably the most epic lair in the entire game, and you're cheapening the epicness if you don't play it on Elite. No reason play Therakiel's Temple (aka. Apocalypse Aversion mission) on anything other than a 5-person team on Elite.

    .

Nope, never found the need since there was too much stuff in the Desert, Canada, and Monster Island. Only one at 40 and just by a week. Stopped him and working on a completely new character I've been wanting to try now that I have access to the archtype.

Have you verified that the Vibora Bay you're talking about is the actual Vibora Bay zone, and not the lvl 22 mini-Vibora, or the Vibora Bay Crisis?

Because, the actual Vibora Bay has so many missions in it that to this day I haven't completed them all on one character... and there is certainly more than "one linear storyline" in there.

Apocalypse is really great, else all these overlong Crypts in VB get a little bit boring after a while. But i really love the Foxbat / Sapphire storys in VB

Mostly I enjoy VB, but the unrelenting dark supernatural aspect makes it the most one dimensional zone. Those endless crypts can be tiring. I'd like a bit more diversity there; i.e. missions and villains that aren't exclusively voodoo-fallen angel-vampire-werewolf related. E.g. the Qulaar deciding to test their bio-weapons on supernatural adversaries. Heroes caught in a secret war between vampires and aliens! E.g. Argent being interested in capturing werewolves to see if they can reverse engineer them. And so on.

Disappointing: This MINIzone is the only expansion the game ever got.

The proper Vibora Bay zone has its own Crisis and then afterward, a larger version of the zone that's packed with missions.

The Vibora Bay Apocalypse (crisis) is some of the best story this game has.

Vibora bay to me, was the best content addition this game has had since launch, up there with Resistance. Wish we got more like it. The story was brilliant, the difficulty was spot-on at the time and people were going nuts for the costume pieces.

Wish this could hapoen again....alas i crawl back to my cave in Monster Island...and wait...

Just be thankful you can now quick-exit instanced missions... man I hated having to look for the exit before that!

This is perhaps the most confusing and confused aspect of this game. Having three, four or five different versions of the same zone makes a complete hash of teaming. I did level 22 VB solo, and when a friend got the mission he shared it with me, it appeared in my mission list but when I actually tried to go there via the jet the map transfer just failed. Because I'd already done the "special one-shot" instance and you can never go back. (I reported it as a bug in my ignorance and the tech spent a considerable amount of effort trying to help me before he finally figured out that it's just the lousy design that's at fault.)

I realize this is an intentional design point, so that players can have the feeling that the world changed somehow as a result of their actions. But it totally trashes the ability to team.

while that shouldn't happen, it doesn't really have anything to do with the OP. it's only confusing if you don't know the difference, and sure your first 40 will have common mistakes but your 2nd and so on shouldn't, atleast as far as knowing the zones goes.

ill say what everyone already said before, the vb apocalypse is the best crisis in the game on the design, scenery and plot levels of it.

I try not to involve, or even think of Florida in my daily life, but when I regrettably do, I do pronounce it that way what with me being hispanic and a raging know-it-all douche.

Either that or like Flo Rida because it amuses me.

    Also, it's "flo-ree-dah," not "flow-ree-dah." It's a softer/shorter sounding o sound like in... "Florida." (not Flowrida).
