Really tough decisions (blade/archer/magic build)

So I kind of want to bring "Fable" to CO with a character that can use a blade, a bow and some magic. I'm having a really tough time focusing on what kinds of set-up I should have. I'm trying to base my idea off this guy's diagram of balance: http://champions-online.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=gameguides&action=display&thread=1534

I have no idea where to start.

Here's something quick that I threw together.

    PowerHouse (Link to this build)

    Name:

    Archetype: Freeform

    Super Stats:
    Level 6: Dexterity (Primary)
    Level 10: Constitution (Secondary)
    Level 15: Intelligence (Secondary)

    Talents:
    Level 1:
    Level 6:
    Level 9:
    Level 12:
    Level 15:
    Level 18:
    Level 21:

    Powers:
    Level 1: Strafe (Aversion)
Thematic energy builder. Best choice for early power progression. Aversion is a nice adv. too.
    Level 1: Quarry (Rank 2, Rank 3)
Great Passive. Buffs your Dodge, Physical and Non-Physical (by half the amount) Damage, and the Audacity stacks buff your Avoidance, INT, and EGO. Audacity scales with INT.
Level 6: Evasive Maneuvers (Sleight of Mind)
Dodge buff and 50% chance to wipe threat. Taken this early because of hybridizing difference power sets. Take a damage power here first (Sonic Arrow is good), then at level 8 switch it out.
Level 8: Storm of Arrows (Rank 2, Rank 3)
Choice AoE. I thought arrows would be best. Good DPS. Has a short cooldown to work with MSA.
Level 11: Form of the Tempest
Form toggle of choice. Only gives half the bonus to Ranged damage, but only your AoE counts as Ranged damage. With high DEX, it ends up being better than if you took Concentration.
    Level 14: Reaper's Caress (Rank 2, Rank 3)
Single target "spam" attack. Stacks Bleed.
Level 17: Bountiful Chi Resurgence (Resurgent Reiki)
Self healing. The RR adv is fantastic.
    Level 20: Masterful Dodge
    Oh **** button.
    Level 23: Smoke Bomb Lunge
Get you into melee range quickly. The Nailed to the Ground adv. is great to take for PvP.
    Level 26: Molecular Self-Assembly
Best energy unlock for the build. Works off the many short cooldowns.
Level 29: Ego Surge (Nimble Mind)
Active offense that with the adv. and SS CON grants a large bonus to crit chance.
    Level 32: Reaper's Embrace (Rank 2, Rank 3)
Single target burst damage. Deals bonus damage per stack of Bleed on the target.
Level 35: Hex of Suffering (Rank 2, Rank 3)
Secondary AOE, magic themed. Could take the Rune of the Lethargy adv. if you like.
Level 38: Sigils of the Primal Storm (Rank 2, Rank 3)
    Another magic power.

    Travel Powers:
    Level 6: Athletics (Rank 2, Rank 3)
    Level 35: Teleportation

    Specializations:
    Dexterity: Gear Utilization (3/3)
    Dexterity: Brush It Off (2/2)
    Dexterity: Deadly Aim (3/3)
    Dexterity: Expose Weakness (2/2)
    Warden: Fortified Gear (3/3)
    Warden: Slaughter (2/3)
    Warden: Ruthless (2/2)
    Warden: The Best Defense (3/3)
    Vindicator: Aggressive Stance (2/2)
    Vindicator: Merciless (3/3)
    Vindicator: Focused Strikes (3/3)
    Vindicator: Mass Destruction (2/3)
    Mastery: Dexterity Mastery (1/1)

Hex of Suffering and/or Sigils could be replaced with another magic-y power of choice. Maybe Flashfire, maybe Ball Lightning, Dust Devil. Because Storm of Arrows is your main AoE, you'd really want to just take a Click power. The Reaper's Caress / Reaper's Embrace combo is very powerful. Storm of Arrows is a good AoE. BCR/RR, SS CON, Quarry, and chosen specializations give you good survivability.

Talents can be whatever. STR is good to give a bonus to melee damage and knock resist. Maybe some PRE to boost your healing a bit. Or just talent for your Super Stats.

Gear for Crit / Crit Severity in your Primary Offense, Dodge + Avoidance in your Primary Defense, and whatever you feel you need in Utility.

Not bad, the travel powers I'll have to choose, plus I'd like to see more sword stuff. Pretty good chart to work off of, though. Thanks much for the ideas.

Another very nice feature of CO is the ability to switch roles. I had an Amazon warrior heroine who shot arrows (AoE) while in ranged, when the minions were all down she switched to melee role and used her sword on the boss which combined with Parry w/adv made her very durable. Quarry was passive and Dex was PSS, build is very similar to Kelborn except I just used Dragon's Wrath as sole blade attack.

I wouldn't dilute your build with too many attacks. You only really need one or two single target and one or two AoE attacks. One for sustained damage, one for burst damage. Anything else should either add a buff or a debuff, or be a Click power, else it becomes a redundant power that's just wasting a power slot.

RC / RE is a great combo for Single Target damage. SoA is solid AoE. You don't really need any more sword attacks.

One thing to keep in mind when making themed characters is balancing function with flavor. It's best if an ability suits both at the same time. If you just end up taking powers willy nilly then you'll end up gimping yourself. My Archery build is themed after an Aztec warrior. Toxic Nanites = poisoned arrows, Command Animals = hunting companions. They suit the theme, and have a function of adding DPS without interrupting my other ability use. And if you look at my Infernal Tank build, you may be able to tell that it's an homage to Ghost Rider. Heavily themed for sure, but everything also has a function instead of just being fluff.

As monsterdaddy mentioned, using your Builds to swap Roles is a pretty good way to add some versatility to your character. You can do some other good stuff with your Builds too. Take my Fighting Claws build for example. I have both Way of the Warrior and The Elusive Monk giving me Dodge / Avoidance. But TEM gimps my damage. Set Build 1 to have Parry slotted, Build 2 set without Parry slotted. Switch between as needed. Doing the same for my Laser Sword build and Energy Shield (Laser Knight).

True, but it just seems that I wouldn't be doing too much in terms of contributing damage. I have the smoke bomb lunge on my other character. I'd also like to be able to do more AoE in case I'm surrounded. Perhaps I should have blade for single targets, arrows for cones/range and magic for surround?

I figure I could have the sword as an energy builder and arrows for a charged shot.
