I think it would be cool to add this to the z/c-store, a token to turn a Gold FF into a Silver FF for a nice price-tag, instead of buying a whole new character slot.

What do you guys think about this?
That would be tricky for the same reason that there weren't for a long time no freeform slots for silver players and even now to buy one is overpriced: with a freeform slot you can clone every AT( with 2 power slots more added in) and with the price of a retcon you can rotate the ATs cloned. Then no one would buy the ATs. The "fair price" for converting a gold FF in a silver FF should be the same that buying a freeform slot is now for silvers

Who'll clone ATs when they got FF slot? It's not like ATs are that attractive and effective in the end-game...

the point is who would buy archetypes if silver would have access at FF slots at a cheap price? Not even those that would like an AT( if they like them that much they would have the option to clone them). And PW wants to sell Archetypes.

I think that this is toooo specific. "Turn a gold FF into a silver FF" is something that a small number of people would use.
Instead, to give it more broad appeal, have it be a "Convert slot to FF Slot". The difference is that it takes whatever character is in a slot, be it a gold FF or a silver AT, and converts it into a FF, enacting a free retcon in the process if it was an AT.
This way it is useful both to gold players who want to make a FF character useable while not subbed, and also to silver players who want to take an existing AT character and FF-ize them to carry over various bits of gear and devices and whatnot and to start at lvl 40 (because even silvers get tired of repeating the same leveling path over and over).
As for cost, yeah it might have to cost more than a regular FF slot.... then again, a regular FF slot gives you a new slot, whereas this "convert" token would not carry the value of a new slot with it, so maybe it wouldn't have to be more expensive ( more slots = more refineable questionite per day, so there is value there to consider ).

Umm...I pretty much clone AT's. Only thing I sub out are the inherent abilities and perhaps a single power. So far, anyway.
Pretty much the only reason I subbed up is because I didn't want to pay fifty dollars for a freeform slot. Much cheaper at the ten bucks per month for three months deal I got.
an option that I feel should be available to "ex-gold" is to allow X slots to be used within 7 days.
want to switch to a locked out toon/slot? don't play 1 of your tons for 7 days, so you are able to select a different toon, (basically a 7 day cool-down on a 2 slot use limit , if you never bought more silver slots)
edit to add: of course with any gold sub colors/skills, if a gold freeform was disbanded to be remade, it would no loner be a freeform slot. (this would only allow you to play a limited # of toons that was already made, not allow you to disband and make a new freeform)
If the character is deleted, what happens? Does the slot stay silver FF? Then it should cost as much as buying a silver FF slot.
Even if it stays as silver FF, the slot itself was converted from an existing slot.
i.e. suppose you are Silver with two character slots, buying an FF slot will give you three slots in total. However, using an FF conversion, if they add that to the Z-store, still leaves you with two slots.
So the pricing of an FF conversion needs to take that into account.

Yeah - make the freeform conversion token cost, say, $40 instead of $50.

No, no bundling this for two slots. Needs to be a single-slot thing because not everyone is an altaholic.
And I don't think it's going to hurt Archetype sales - people who really want to try an archetype (and don't have 40-50$ to blow) will do so, whereas people who just want an effective character don't actually need to buy anything even now (cf. The Radiant).
Too new to these forums to make a new post, but this one is a similar topic:
I think Cryptic should give a Silver Freeform slot as a reward for leveling an AT to max level. This would show off the coolness of freeform to players who might not even realize that it is an option and I think it would lead to more subs or freeform character slot purchases.
If they are worried that it would lead to subscription losses, then they could make this new Silver Freeform slot only for NEW characters. To access your old gold characters, you'd still need a subscription or you could purchase a token (at a discounted price vs. a silver freeform slot on it's own) to change your gold freeform into a silver freeform.
Finally, another option would be to reward a coupon for a silver freeform slot to those that reach max level so that it only costs $10 instead of $50. I'd continue playing if I could go freeform, but at this point, I've played all the ATs that interest me, and $50 for a freeform is $40 more than I'll ever pay for it - it's just one slot, so I'm locked in to one character after all unless I'm willing to pay for respecs, which should work for them since those also cost real money.

Considering how easy it is to get a toon to cap thanks to the introductions of Alerts (mainly Smash Alerts), this is pretty much a red-zone. You might end up with people creating multiple accounts and getting a toon to 40 in a matter of hours/days with Smashes just for free-Freeform slots.
If we're going to focus on the idea of Freeforms, why not do something similar to the Archetype Rotation and allow everyone to try it for a week (or some other timeframe) so they can have a taste of it; if people like it enough they will either buy a slot or subscribe. At least that's my idea :P
You can currently get freeform slots for less than $19 apiece - you just have to buy 16 of them at once.
Anyway, a no-cost freeform slot for reaching max level is too good, and given that a new slot costs about $10, the option of converting an existing character slot for $40 *is* reasonable, (not that many people would pay that, though).
Regardless, you can still earn Questionite in game and/or take some of the surveys/trials to reduce that cost further.

That way everyone can enjoy it, and no one needs to go through the ordeal of leveling another character while losing any perks on their main.
Of course the pricing might be a little bit too high for each purchase, making subbing more attractive.

Occam's Razor makes the cutting clean.
I remember deleting and remaking my main (only) more times than I could count.. each time I didn't know if i'd make it to 40 before quitting

Does it revert to an AT slot? Then it doesn't need to cost as much.
I'm still fairly new. If I screwed up again, let me know.
