I've been playing around with my first level 40 character trying to find a role which she was pretty darn good at. But since Gravitar, I'm feeling alittle adrift. I'm looking for suggestions on adding more versatility. My first time through the Gravitar scenario, I died five or seven times. It was embaressing, but it gave me the urge to ret-con.

My third date with Gravitar proved alittle better. That was with the following build:

PowerHouse (Link to this build)

Name:

Archetype: Freeform

Super Stats:
Level 6: Ego (Primary)
Level 10: Constitution (Secondary)
Level 15: Intelligence (Secondary)

Talents:
Level 1: The Invincible
Level 6: Field Ops Training
Level 9: Ascetic
Level 12: Healthy Mind
Level 15: Jack of All Trades
Level 18: Academics
Level 21: Command Training

Powers:
Level 1: Shadow Bolt
Level 1: Shadow Blast (Rank 2, Rank 3)
Level 6: Rebuke
Level 8: Regeneration (Rank 2, Rank 3)
Level 11: Concentration
Level 14: Lifedrain (Rank 2, Vampiric Sympathy, Accelerated Metabolism)
Level 17: Sigils of Primal Storms (Rank 2, Rank 3)
Level 20: Circle of Primal Dominion
Level 23: Resurgence
Level 26: Summon Shadows (Rank 2)
Level 29: Conviction
Level 32: Lightning Storm (Rank 2)
Level 35: Force Shield (Force Sheathe)
Level 38:

Travel Powers:
Level 6: Magic Carpet (Rank 2, Rank 3)
Level 35: Teleportation

Specializations:
Ego: Force of Will (2/2)
Ego: Insight (1/3)
Ego: Aggression (2/2)
Ego: Follow Through (3/3)
Ego: Sixth Sense (2/3)
Guardian: Fortified Gear (3/3)
Guardian: Make It Count (2/3)
Guardian: Ruthless (2/2)
Guardian: The Best Defense (3/3)
Vindicator: Aggressive Stance (2/2)
Vindicator: Merciless (3/3)
Vindicator: Focused Strikes (3/3)
Vindicator: Modified Gear (2/2)

I found the added Con and health really added to point blank survival. That's what I did with my third meeting with Gravitar. Plopped myself in front of her, threw up a circle and spammed Sigils, Shadows, and Life Drain. Only popped Resurgence two or three times and conviction less than 10 times. Forgot all about ForceShield.

From what I was reading about the Sorcery tree, their DPS output is not going to come close to my munitions character. That's my forte, making big numbers and crits. But if Sorcery isn't exactly the FotM for DPS, maybe I can do better with versatility. My current DPS gear puts me at around 600 superstats, 50 Rec, 29% crit without talents, 98% crit sev, with 460 Offense/250 def.

I'm out of free Ret Cons, but I could drop everything down to Summon Shadows. The rest of Magenta's skills, I've been using since I leveled her up when CO opened. So I'm kinda emotionally attached to them. But anyways, suggest away!

Actually, I take that back. Rebuke is an unfortunate result of my most recent ret-con versatility hunt. I couldn't find anything in darkness that worked for the third power slot. And of course, nothing was available that I had used in my previous builds. I originally leveled up with Chain Lightning in Rebuke's spot. But I like Lightning Storm a lot more. Thought adding Rebuke would get me a heal. However, I have not support slotted passive to really go to town as a healer.

Played around with the Powerhouse again and made some modifications. I'm debating the usefulness of Concentration because spamming pets and blasting don't seem to mesh with keeping stacks of concentration up.

I guess I will just recolor rebuke. Perhaps I'll miss my enemies cowering in fear. Gets me a low level heal and a resurrection ability.

I will try to give some subjective feedback.

First of all i personally dont like Regeneration at higher levels. Its not something that scales very well imho.
Also doesnt Circle of Ebon Wrath have a self heal debuff ? Not 100% sure and cannot check the ingame advanced description right now.

Also Conviction doesnt really do a lot for you it seems. You could swap that for something more useful.
Maybe another Pet with a good ability. (It says pet controller in title but you only have one uncontrollable pet)

Maybe swap concentration for something more useful in that build.
Compassion also raises damage and heals as an example.

All in all the build seems to lack direction.

    Thanks for your input!

I do admit Magenta has a meandering power pool. And compared to some of the serious pet controllers, she is not deserving of the term pet controller. I guess my playstyle is more of a tanking blaster. I should be more succinct.

I want to have a character who can switch from hybird offensive, to support mode to throw heals, battle rez, and send out the occasion pet or DOT to help the battle along. I feel like the character has enough powers to handle current solo content. Adding a decent support role to her plate would be something new to do with her. I just don't know the support end of things. The support role could be as a debuffer or a healer. I just don't know what I can accomplish with three to five power slots.

What i did personally was to take Aura of Radiant Protection.
Push Presence and Dex, get Armor Equip and push them via Talents or take Dex as First Superstat so it influences your Dodge skill.
Then either get Unbreakable or the Dodge active defense, depending on what you went for.

Get one great single target heal like Conduit.

The great thing is that now you will have a char that does great support and can solo well as hybrid, due to high protection, high critrate.

The other skills are dependant on what playstyle you prefer. Personally i like Munitions and their energy builder as it goes along great with high critrate.

Or take advantage of high presence and take a good shield like Mindful Reinforcement and a great Hold like Grasping Shadows.

If you want just one pet i would take Ritual of Ebon Summoning as it probably has the highest damage imho. Problem is you will have to stay in the circle as with Unbound it takes a hit to its dps capabilities.

    anyhow, i am rambling :)

I use pets or at least one of them in every single build. I love pets and some of them perform quiet nicely.
I guess its a question if you min max every single point or squeeze the occasional skill in for flavor.
Dont take away my Fire Demon !!
