Tanker Tuesday: January 2013

Hey guys! New year! New set of Tanker Tuesday events!

Dates:
  • 01/08/2013
  • 01/15/2013
  • 01/22/2013
  • 01/29/2013

Time:
  • 9:00 PM Eastern
  • 8:00 PM Central
  • 07:00 PM Mountain
  • 06:00 PM Pacific

Assembly Location:
  • Millennium City Powerhouse Theater

What to bring? Is it a tank?
  • Yes: Cool! You'll fit right in!
  • No: Cool! You'll fit right in!

In short, while we started off as a Tanker-only event, the differences between our original game and CO have made the distinction of straight-up tanking somewhat superfluous. So come as you are. We'll do everything in our power to get a team for you.

Other Requirements:
  • A little bit of patience.

Most of us are still fairly "new" to the game. Any assistance and guidance is always appreciated.

Tanker Tuesday. I miss those days. I remember how much fun it was! I'll do my best to make it.... however... CO has given me the ability to "re-invent" my character. Actually, it has allowed me to have my character the way I orginially designed her. I am now a "Blasting Tank".

I took part in this last week for some 3 hours of PUG-ing goodness. Will certainly go for it again when I'm available next time.

Ace. For everyone else it's optional. For you, it's a genetic and moral imperative. COME ON AND GET YOUR TANK ON SON!

Tanker Tuesday is a blast, and thanks Hyperstrike, for babysitting a group of lowbie newbs.

Everyone's a "lowbie newb" at some point.

They develop into long term players with lots of knowledge more easily if things stay friendly.

That's the original thread. But from what I understand, it's a group of people who just run around the game doing game content together as a group/groups. [Which is totally awesome since finding a group for some non-Alert content can be a pain at times]

Sorry about the delayed reply. Need to start using thread subscription a bit more regularly so I see stuff like this.

Yeah. TT started as an all-tank event in CoH. It was both a socialization situation and a teaching forum for the precepts of tanking in CoH. That and all tank teams, with just a little work, are just UGLY from an enemy's POV. They just roll right over you.

When coming here to CO, tanking is a slightly different proposition here. Many MANY more types of toons can tank QUITE effectively. So we decided to open the event to all.

It's still a teaching and social occasion. But, seeing as it ran for 8 years in CoH, the event is a LOT greener here. So even the people running the event (*COUGH*LIKEME*COUGH*) are in learning mode now.

Sounds really nice but the timing is just not going to work for me. That is like 2am GMT which for me will be 10am. Have to be at work but still it is a nice effort to rally players together. Cheers and keep it up :) .

ooooooooooooooo. This is actually an event in my time zone. Y'all got a chat channel for this? I might try to come out tomorrow.
In game, I am @EvilTaco. Happily killing purple gang members since May 2008.

If I may make a suggestion, perhaps a semi-planned schedule of actual events should be released for these. Just so that people have an idea of what level they should and should not bring. This is actually coming from a lowbie/beginner perspective for this.

Just remember, if a guy named RING shows up...DO NOT LET HIM GET ON AN ELEVATOR.

ps. And if a guy named Arctus shows up, shoot him in the face. He likes it.

I haven't been actively playing the past couple of weeks, almost didn't manage to join up today. The information on chat channel and gathering location change would be better served to be updated for our benefit. Otherwise, I'm still enjoying this event when I'm free to make it.
