Solo level 40 lairs & elite content? OMG how?

I am just getting the hang of my 40 again - I am reasonably experienced and I am using what I think is a durable build - l!ghtstar's Light build:

http://co-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?t=202901

And I get creamed even in Viper - a level 38 lair. I have tons of protection, self buffs, self heals, etc. but I am not even close. And then I see videos of people 'farming' lairs for costume points or Questionite.

Question: how do I get from where I am to a toon that can handle that content? Better gear? Is the Light support build not good for solo farming?

Thanks for any advice.

No idea - at work :)

Is that something I should look to buff through gear? Is there a sort of goal #?

    Thanks!

There have been a few threads on this recently:

However IMO at some point it comes down to not just build, but playstyle. Using someone else's build can be tricky because there might be unstated assumptions about their playstyle. I'd recommend seeing where your weaknesses are and building to cover them rather than just assuming lightstar's build will work with how you personally want to play. Another option is to try several of those builds in the powerhouse battlestation on max settings until you find one that seems to be trivially easy for you.

Some general playstyle issues are: Are you blocking when necessary? Are you moving around to line up enemies for AoEs properly, and get out of the way of their AoE melee attacks? Are you using your attacks quickly and efficiently, so that enemies don't even get the chance to whittle you down?

Gear might be an issue too. However to be honest, the buffs mostly follow a logarithmic scale and Heroic gear from the Silver Champions Recognition vendor with rank 5 is usually more than enough.

The goal is the sky. That is probably what you are missing. Buff it anyway you can.

A Viper related mission is actually one of the worst places to try to solo if you ignore the Brickbusters. But a lot of it has to do with your AoEs and sustaining your heals or exploiting your pets' useful distractions.

Let's solo Bronze King Champions Online 01142013
Champions Online Solo Run Vikorin the Blind

One advice from me. Just do the thing only necessary and don't touch anything not necessary.
No one can do crazy amount of tough mobs.

Only mission you can't solo is nemcon (need 5 ppl queue) and Gravitar (need 10 ppl queue).
There are even way to solo Therakiel. Let me keep about how to do this secret cause I'm not the one found how .

    Good luck. :3
