There are many weapon skins in Champions Online currently listed as "blasters", but cannot be used with Gadgeteering Particle Rifle or Pistol powers. I have compiled a list of all such weapon skins, and which categories they can be found in.
If these are not only used by NPCs as blaster guns, but also often called blasters in their names, why can't they be used as blaster weapons? In fact, new additions to Pistols have also been made available to Energy Pistols, such as the GEM Ruby Laser Pistol and even the Pulp Gas-gun.
These listed models should be more than adequate for being shared between the Munitions and Gadgeteering frameworks.
It would kind of nice and probably impracticle if when you used a ray gun skin for munitions you shot energy bolts instead of bullets. as is how can you ever get to use some of those skins as ray guns at all ? am I missing something or is this only possilbe freeform of such?

Okay. The weapon skins are currently locked to Munitions, when they should be available to Gadgeteering. It's not a freeform thing, since it's with costumes.

It's this way because CO lacks any sort of basic quality control when it comes to the creator. The gadgeteering particle rifle powers were only added long after all those costume unlocks had been in the game and hooked up for munitions, therefore, none of them were updated to be available to be used because it would've taken effort and time to do so.
This is clearly the issue, because any new weapon packs that have come out after the gadget updates that added the rifle powers have the rifles work for munitions and gadget powers.
That's pretty much it... As a rule of thumb, once something is in the tailor and on Live, it's not going to be changed down the road, regardless of how much no sense it makes to not be available with something, etc...
It's just more pointless limitation. There is no real reason why all rifle weapon models are shouldn't be usable for all rifle attacks, be them Assault Rifle, Shotgun, SMG or Raygun.
Okay, the "Modern Conventional" weapons make sense to be limited this way, but not the unlockables.
It is an un-feature that does nothing but preventing the players having fun with certain concepts. There is no upside for anyone. A limitation of this kind is just BAD for the playing experience.
