Out of curiosity does anyone know what happens if a Nemesis alert is played by a whole team without a single character that has a Nemesis?
If everyone is 6th level then that certainly will be the case.
Generic Nemesis (Deathmetal, Lilith, and Destructo - possibly others). Uses Scourge-type powers, totally random costume, and totally random Minions. (Nothing like seeing a giant power-armor toon with wings, a halo, and a clown face surrounded by pirate minions, just before it spits its green halitosis all over you...)
This also happens a substantial fraction of the time when one or more members of the team have Nemeses - Spider-Bat hasn't seen Deathjest in ages!

A better option would be to require a certain level of contribution toward winning an Alert, in order to receive the rewards at the end - something modest like 10% of all damage or healing done, (barring self-heals), should suffice.

I thought, due to the scaling issue, that lowbies actually do more damage with attacks than the higher-levels with the same attacks?
Anyway, I will /sign anything that keeps generic Nemeses out of my hair. Those of us WITH Nemeses deserve to have that special something.
Alternately, award Nem tokens rather than Questionite. Simple as making a new box that spits out Nem tokens with a level minimum of 25 to use ... and make sure they're non-stackable

Well, while the scaling of a lower level to 30 may give a greater bonus, it still doesn't make up for the smaller number of powers, advantages, lesser gear, and fewer specializations, that lower level characters will have.

Except that, as I mentioned before, that WON'T keep generic Nemeses away. Several of my toons have their own Nemeses; even when I've been in Nem Alerts with several other toons over 25, we often still wind up facing Lilith or Deathmetal.

The simple way of handling the over-appearance of generic Nemeses is something that's been requested before: if there's at least one person in the group with an active Nemesis, then one of those Nemeses is used.
The requirement that a minimum amount must be contributed to get the reward (say, 5% of the overall damage, including healing other chars) would go a long way to eliminate leechers (those who just stand around at the starting spot and wait for everyone else to do all the work, then run in and collect the rewards).
The problem with mixing L6-11 characters in with L25-40 is, of course, rather harder. The real trouble is that, while the damage and other attributes are scaled up to 30, the higher levels have additional Powers, Advantages, and other enhancements that don't get added in with that up-scaling. That makes the scaled-up lower levels still much less powerful than the scaled-down higher levels. Some way of scaling the foe's attacks and defenses to the combined levels of the characters in the Alert would be a help, but I suspect would also be a headache to program. (Not that the suggestion in my first paragraph wouldn't be... but that's how it goes.)

Thanks for the answer.
My Behemoth Counter Weight has met his Nemesis and I was torn between saying "Those are pirates, could it be Admiral Anti-Matter?" and trying to keep a lower profile in case people thought my character design was too tacky.
However having the Admiral denounce my character personally might have been a give-away ...
Superhero stories, done well, are about modern archetypes.
A Prootwaddle is one of the weirder player-character races in "The Fantasy Trip", Steve Jackson's first published role-playing game.
Due to the massive amount of zen farmers, entering the nemesis alerts with lvl 6 characters,
I know this is an old post, but I'd just like to point out that this is highly unlikely.
The Zen farmers show up with their best characters, so that they actually GET their Questionite boxes.
The level 6 characters show up knowing that the uber characters are going to drag them along.
Nobody in their right mind is going to show up to farm something on a character that is incapable of completing the task, and is therefore unable to complete.
And gradii? You should probably read the post properly before attacking people. He never suggested removing Smashes, he suggested removing Nemesis Smashes. Which I would be opposed to as well.
