Legacy Items in Drifter Store

We rotated out the Halloween section of the Drifter store as part of this patch, which included the Legacy crafted items. The Legacy items will return as part of the next patch two weeks from now, that one was an oversight.

Hope you guys are enjoying the new grav bikes, and get ready for the start of our mega-event in two weeks!

I know I would enjoy the Grav bikes if you could buy one in the Z-Store, Lock box only items are not enjoyable.

I'm one of the apparent minority that would have been willing to spend some points on keys for the new lockboxes if/when the legacy items are available. Until then, there's really no consolation prize in the form of drifter items that I'm interested in, so I'll pass. Guess you screwed up another release, Cryptic.

I'd like a grav bike for one of my characters, but after the yo-yo ride you guys gave me with my Hawkwing prototype I really don't feel like spending real money or time trying to acquire one. =\

    No C-Store Bikes. Only Lock-Boxes.

    NO SALE.

They might some more reskins to the Z-Store later, like the red-white-blue hoverbike in the loading screen. But of course, the best bikes will inevitably come from lockboxes.

If so, we'll have to wait two weeks for the next patch.

Wow Cryptic. You have removed the primary reason many people I know bother with opening lockboxes since you have removed the legacy devices and costumes from the Drifter store. Way to go.

Temporary or not, it certainly is not likely to help the bottom line.

Are we expecting game wide nerfs to all those devices while they're at it? I wouldn't expect any less. Since less would be they forget about it in two weeks.

I spoke with the devs, and I've got two pieces of good news. As with any change, remember that it has to cross the final hurdle, everything is tentative, yadda yadda.

    1) They were able to slot this back in for next week, instead of two weeks from now. Legacy crafted items should be back in the Drifter store next Thursday.

    2) Next week's maintenance should also include a fix to the pick up 'n' throw issue. This fix had been in the works for a while, but now the dev team is ready to release it. Took more debugging than expected.

    Happy Thursday, everyone. :)

Yep. Sell the same items in both the Z-Store and the lock boxes. Until then, no sale.

I think the company will be able to see from their sales figures whether the boxes are encouraging sales of the keys. Do not buy the keys to unlock the boxes if they do not appeal. However it is good feedback that the consolation of being able to purchase legacy device kits with the drifter salvages is an important element to moving the sales of these keys.

On a positive note, they have fixed the pick up and throw bug. I think any bug fix is always a good thing. Hope the devs had a good Xmas break and is ready to roll out more content for the game.

dont get ahead of yourself, they said they fixed bullet for biselle as well, and that was even in patch notes, not a note on a forum, and that is still broken, over a year, and several months AFTER the fix that did nothing.

Still, the only thing motivating many people to buy cosmic keys was using drifter salvage for those legacy items.

Ok .. did i get this right, that all the items we could craft before they removed crafting from CO
now is only available in something like Grab-Bags ? Yeah yeah .. now there are boxes and keys
but its the same gamble mechanism .. right ?

And even if you always got some of these salvage stuff, you need to buy how many keys for 1 item ?
How much $ have i to pay now for all the stuff that was free before On Alert ?

I wait for the moment when we only get what we see in the "streamlined" character editor, and everything else
has to be bought for $2-5 each single item .. and then they call that new content

if this game goes i am sure a hell not going back to DCUO. I spent 75% getting my butt kick in pve and pvp, plus the costume choices are just a horrible selection of tights and lack actual armor pieces. Though i have to admit if the Braniac Bombarder pieces weren't such a pain to get i would play that game more often.

Opening each box costs $1 - whether your own dollar or someone else's, it will cost $1.

Assuming you only get 2 Drifter Salvage from each box, and no dupes:
$10 for a Legacy Crafted Action Figure GAMBLE Bag. 1 of 30 AFs is dropped. $300.
$20 for a Legacy Crafted Device GAMBLE Bag. 2 of 40 Devices are dropped. $400.
$30 for a Legacy Crafted Costume GAMBLE Bag. 1 of 16 Costumes is dropped. $480.

    $1,180.

Is the amount of money you or someone else would have to spend for you to get all of the Legacy Crafted Items - going by 2 Salvage and No Dupes.

If you get more Salvage per box, it goes down.
If you get dupes, it goes up.

Hey, hey, let's be fair to cryptic they did ALSO fix pick up and throw. So one feature will cost 1180. IT's the start of them going somewhere, maybe next week we might get open missions fixed, but the patch for it is sold in gamble bags.

The only appropriate response is swearing so i wont respond appropriately.

I had been starting to open lockboxes for some salvage for the store but i don't think i can continue to do so. Not without being able to choose what i'm buying in the drifter store. I live on disability Cryptic, you already get my gold subscription and i've been buying plenty from the Z store. I'm definately a financial paying supporter of the game. Stop trying to discourage my giving you my money like this.

I don't think subscriptions really factor into the business plan for CO anymore. The model is for individual transactions, and many, many people buy cosmic keys. There are always dozens for sale in the Auction House, and they have become a new form of currency, especially for non-subscribers.

People buy the cosmic keys, and CO makes money. Most forum posters complain about them, but we don't seem to represent the actual paying and playing community.

Most players don't come to the forums, and fewer still ever write anything. Heck, most players don't even use zone chat.

I'm sure at some point the forum was an accurate voice for the rest of CO. But when it's drowned out by silence at being ignored, i'm sure people began to lose hope and interest in the forum. so it sank further in to the irrelevance it has become. Part of the issue if the fact there's no real purpose for the forum. it's maintained almost as often as the game itself. and a proven track record of releasing PTS content despite various warnings about issues, things like this make people feel like any effort to try and help this game goes ignored, so they either leave or become bitter about it.

As for not many people talk in zone chat, i guess it's mostly cause there isn't many people online not to mention for an MMO it is rather Anti-social

I have bought some keys for drifter salvage and i regularly buy things form the z store, i have every moonbase and every cave and i've started getting sanctums. I've also bought heaps of costume sets.

But over a thousand bucks to get all those drifter pieces? Thats rediculous. Just trying to randomly get the ones i want is a stupid excercise outside my price range so you know what that means?

It means i stop buying the keys i had started buying.
It means Cryptic loses money they could ad would have got from me in my attempt to get the items i wanted.

And this is why i rarely play anymore. Got sick of all the high prices for every new shiny they add, or old content they remove, re-fit and then re-sell when it was originally free. Think i'm talking crazy talk? Probably, but i remember a time when anyone could easily get those legacy items for free, it was before alert ever came. Now it's all removed. re-fitted into their marketing scam and resold

Champions Online: Free-For-All, untill we remove it and eventual re-add it for over a thousand dollars and even then you're not guaranteed to get it as you'll gamble for it.

Yeah, it doesn't carry the same ring to it as just "Free for all" Kinda like that tv show "8 Simple rules for dating my teenage daughter" untill it was later renamed 8 simple rules. but everyone knows or should know the full title.

I was ok with the idea of them being in the drifter store till i found out how much that would actually cost! The cost to get the drifter salvage is way too expensive or the item costs in salvage are too high. Especially for a random result.

I was ok with the idea of them being in the drifter store till i found out how much that would actually cost! The cost to get the drifter salvage is way too expensive or the item costs in salvage are too high. Especially for a random result.

Yeah. That's my major peeve , removing content only to re-add it in a different route at a cost when it used to be free. changing the way you obtain it.

Just like when they removed untill tokens from Adventure Series and now you buy advent pack items qith questionite. I literally have 1 or 2 Untill tokens i can NOT get rid of because there's no item worth that much and i can't farm more because it was removed. What am i going to do with 2 until tokens i can't use?

And this is why i rarely play anymore. Got sick of all the high prices for every new shiny they add, or old content they remove, re-fit and then re-sell when it was originally free. Think i'm talking crazy talk? Probably, but i remember a time when anyone could easily get those legacy items for free, it was before alert ever came. Now it's all removed. re-fitted into their marketing scam and resold

Yepp .. even if the crafting system was not that great .. at still it was so much better than
having actually NO crafting system at all. The only good thing of removing the crafting was
that i now don't have to buy extra bank tabs for new characters.
