Yep. Giant robots (4-5 times the size of normal characters) that use vehicle mods for powers and gear.
Think about it. How epic would it be to fight Clarence or the Mega Destroid in a nearly equal sized robot of your own? Or Mecha vs. Mecha duels?
This is my vision of them:
Advantages
Unlike tanks, bikes and jets, Mechas have hands, meaning that they could use melee attacks. These would be special weapon mods that other vehicles can't equip.
Disadvantages
Mechas would move rather slow and be ground bound by default. Only by slotting a "Jetpack" Mark I - III (representing travel power ranks) mod in one of their
weapon slots, they would be able to fly. Mechas are build for fighting giant enemies, not for transport, after all.
Special advantage for the devs!
Mechas being just giant sized character models with the right costume pieces means that they would not require any new models, like the vehicles do. That makes their creation a lot easier! Except if they come wearing new costume pieces, but that wouldn't be necessary.
And actually, using natural and magical costume pieces (Rock, Vine, Ancient Armor, ect.) would be a very easy way to create "magical vehicles", for which there certainly is demand.
Also, they could make for a nice promotional gag, like the one Cryptic pulled with the Unleashed when SWTOR came out. After all, there IS a MMORPG about giant robots comming.

There are a couple MMORPGs about giant robots coming out soon and a movie about giant robots, Pacific Rim.
More than one if Tim Burtons film of the privateer-press wargame Monsterpocalypse is still going ahead.

Well, I was refering to Transformers Universe.
This is also why I think that Cryptic could link vehicles and characters by making certain costume set.
Especially that nobody has exclusive rights to the idea of big transforming robots.
Well, they would have to be bigger than those people I see standing in the middle of Ren Cen all giant with mecha-style costumes, otherwise what's the point?
Champions Online: Be the hero you wish you could be in a better game.
Well, I guess I will name some names. Mobile Suit Gundam and Mech Warrior are both giant robot games.
There should be a 'power armor' variant that is an updated version of the big walking armors that UNTIL and PRIMUS use, we should have that available [in their colors or some other ones] and the PRIMUS and UNTIL PAs should be changed to this new vehicle model.
This would be both awesome and make the vehicles feel like they had some place in the game world.

yep
.
I was thinking about making them smaller than Clarence, but at least the same size as the Empyrean Constructs, the robots in Bunker Buster, Warlord and the original Black Talon (the Mk II is much smaller).
Since mechas would count as vehicles, they could not be used indoors, of course.
/SIGNED!!!
Been wanting something like this for the longest time. Or at least make the Super Mag/Shrinker usable in combat.
We had this in beta, it was part of a power set, problem was, you aggroed EVERYTHING.
Giant robots are a great idea, but this problem would need to be addressed or people will be ticked.
Why not make the Super Magnifier stay active in combat. That way we can design our own mecha looks AND powers. Then just give us costume pieces for more traditional looks-like cannons and missle pods and what not?
The message you have entered is too short. Please lengthen your message to at least 10 characters.
I don't think making the Device stay on would aggro anything. I'm not talking about power pool, just a change to the growth/shrink devices.
As a Mecha Girl, I would dearly love anything for mecha-like stuff.
The problem used to be that your footprint expands, so you're nearer more mobs. Pretty sure that's why they turned it off for combat. No other good reason to turn it off.

Cryptic, its time to bring out the big guns!
Ahh, I see. Lol, I would've loved to see that. It sounds like it caused a genuine, "OMFG GIANT ROBOT, KILL IT YOU IDIOTS!" reaction in the mobs.
I will note that there are practical limits to how tall you can be ingame. After you reach a certain height, you actually start to generate server lag from people on the other end of the map seeing you. Happened back when we had that Artificial life injection making giants.
Edit: I also agree with Thundrax. Lets go ahead and get some realistic vehicles first (Choppers, sports car, Ospry helicopter)
Occam's Razor makes the cutting clean.
Why not?
Just because they don't like it, probably. "Hey, I don't like this, so I think it shouldn't be in even though you all who vastly outnumber me agree that it should be added."
Me, I would love mechas, so long as you can VISUALLY customize them. It shouldn't be all that hard if they use a humanoid model, right? All it would really need are a few hardpoints for adding in the new vehicle weapon appearances, perhaps, but that's pretty-much it appearance-wise.
This game did not need the kind of focus that was placed on Vehicles and it certainly does not need a "next generation" of them prior to getting more content, better balancing, higher level cap, basically anything else really.
