Vindicator: Focused Strikes (3/3)
Vindicator: Mass Destruction (2/3)
Mastery: Endurance Mastery (1/1)

Done Mandragalore and Elite Andrithal with it, but it has a few issues
  • AoRP is nice... if I can block in Gravitar :( A lot of other AoRP users in there though
  • Can't self-heal very fast
  • Fireball + UA is nice DoT damage, but 50ft range with AoRP bug gets me killed in Gravitar. But if I switch to Fire Strike, DoT damage goes down a lot.
  • Has some energy problems at the start of a fight unless I start with Immolation for the cost discount, although it gets better the longer a fight goes,
  • Low knock resist
  • Very low priority on the wishlist but would be kind of nice if Pre can somehow sneak in there as a superstat so that the Aura actually does something

Some notes about suggestions:
  • The theme is a very survivable dual swords character with fire magic that runs in Hybrid mode, so no techy-looking powers or Invulnerability sparkles
  • No Bionic Shielding either, I hate pressing it when it looks like it's off cooldown and having it say I can't use that
  • I recently switched to AoPM with Primary Dex and Secondary Con/End to get around the AoRP bug. Damage is a lot better but it's a little too squishy for my liking, so if possible I'd like to stick to a defensive or defense-oriented passive
  • I don't want to rely on the salvage item for energy
  • PvP viability is not necessary, I play GW2 for PvP :p

Would you be opposed to some Heavy Weapons/Earth powers? There are some really nice synergies between them and Fire... With Dual Swords the only thing I can think that would fit your theme while keeping some synergies would be a "Fire Dancer" type build, plop some fire and Spin like crazy hehe. Gonna play some on PTS with this later when I comeback from the store hehe. I'll post a build later tonight.

I tried Sword Cyclone/Flashfire before I went with Pyre. It kept running out of energy at bad times though. Feels like energy comes a lot faster on the Pyre build, strangely enough. That, and I get to stand in Circle of Primal Dominion for the extra resist.

But there's definitely a lack of synergy with the Form. I was thinking of Int/Con/End with Concentration to fix that, but then Dragon's Wrath would be the odd one out and I'd have to swap it for Conflagration and then it wouldn't be much of a dual swords build anymore :(

As for HW, Brimstone has synergy for sure, but I was saving that for another build. I suppose I could switch them around and do a Heavy Weapons/Fire build later. If I had to switch sets though, I'd want a Dual Blades/Ranged magic build over a Fire/Melee build. In fact, I had this character running Dual Blades/Celestial for a while too, and it was very survivable, but I just couldn't find a good energy unlock and had to use my EB more than I'd like.

Anyways, don't worry about damage passive synergies, the idea behind this character is not to do damage or tank, but to not die, which is kind of like tanking except without the aggro building. I mostly use her to solo places my squishy DPS characters can't.

But the impression I get is most Martial Arts just don't hybridize well with the magic/energy projection sets, short of Unarmed with Force/Wind/Ice/Darkness.

Made a quick build on PTS that worked really well, no energy issues at all. I could not test on Elite Andrith/Bronzy because I din't have them missions on my test toon so I solo'ed Teleiosaurus without any problems.

    PowerHouse (Link to this build)

    Name: Fire Dancer

    Archetype: Freeform

    Super Stats: Lv40 Test toon had 152DEX 417CON 147REC
    Level 6: Dexterity (Primary)
    Level 10: Constitution (Secondary)
Level 15: Recovery (Secondary) Went with REC to attack from rest without having to spam MSA and for lesser MSA scaling

    Talents:
    Level 1: The Savage
    Level 6: Agile
    Level 9: Enduring
    Level 12: Tireless
    Level 15: Acrobat
    Level 18: Impresario
    Level 21: Quick Recovery

    Powers:
    Level 1: Rain of Steel
Level 1: Form of the Tempest
Level 6: Fury of the Dragon (Rank 2, Rank 3) Filler, had no problem maintaining it and might fit theme
Level 8: Dragon's Wrath (Rank 2, Rank 3) Never used this power(like dragon's claw better) and don't know how that adv works so I just went with R3
Level 11: Bountiful Chi Resurgence (Resurgent Reiki)
    Level 14: Masterful Dodge
Level 17: Sword Cyclone (Rank 2, Rank 3)
Level 20: Fire Snake (Rank 2, Rank 3)
    Level 23: Flashfire (Rank 2, Rank 3)
Level 26: Ego Surge (Rank 2, Nimble Mind)
    Level 29: Conviction (Rank 2, Rank 3)
Level 32: Circle of Primal Dominion (Rank 2, Rank 3)
    Level 35: Molecular Self-Assembly
    Level 38: Defiance

    Travel Powers:
Level 6: Distortion Acrobatics (Rank 2, Rank 3)
    Level 35: Teleportation

Specializations: Spec'ed for damage and defense
    Dexterity: Gear Utilization (1/3)
    Dexterity: Brush It Off (2/2)
    Dexterity: Power Swell (2/2)
    Dexterity: Deadly Aim (3/3)
    Dexterity: Expose Weakness (2/2)
    Warden: Fortified Gear (3/3)
    Warden: Ruthless (2/2)
    Warden: Elusive (2/2)
    Warden: The Best Defense (3/3)
    Vindicator: Aggressive Stance (2/2)
    Vindicator: Merciless (3/3)
    Vindicator: Focused Strikes (3/3)
    Vindicator: Mass Destruction (2/3)
    Mastery: Dexterity Mastery (1/1)

As long as you keep Rush up and are being attacked some, the build didn't have any energy problems. For gear I went with all Heroic Precision+Gamblers, Agility+Gamblers and Speed+Impact. I hope this helps a bit.

Here's another one with Fire Ball instead of Fury of the Dragon and Thermal instead of MSA. Same stats/gear as other one.

    PowerHouse (Link to this build)

    Name: Fire Dancer + Range

    Archetype: Freeform

    Super Stats:
    Level 6: Dexterity (Primary)
    Level 10: Constitution (Secondary)
    Level 15: Recovery (Secondary)

    Talents:

    Level 9: Enduring
    Level 12: Tireless

Level 8: Form of the Tempest

Level 23: Sword Cyclone (Rank 2, Rank 3)

    Vindicator: Merciless (3/3)
    Vindicator: Focused Strikes (3/3)
    Vindicator: Mass Destruction (2/3)
    Mastery: Dexterity Mastery (1/1)

This build is awesome with the double fire debuff. No energy problems like the other one if you keep Rush up and are being attacked.

Ahh Defiance :O Guess that's the secret sauce I was missing for energy. Power Swell instead of Gear Utilization too o.o

How would Sword Cyclone synergize with Circle of Primal Dominion though? I'm trying to picture how it would work against groups of ranged knock spammers like in Harmon or some of the common mobs in Andrith. Pretty sure it won't die, but would be quite annoying to get interrupted all the time.

And yes, the fire DoT on the build is pretty sweet :3 Got me the kill shot on Gravitar last run. She had UA, Fire Snake and Clinging Flames on her and did her pull. Put down a Pyre patch while we were swirling around and she died from a string of 300 damage DoTs just as her pull ended.

Anyway, thanks for the build help. I'll probably try out at least Defiance on Live. The rest I'll check out on the PTS to see how they work.

Circle of Primal Dominion is just for big Bosses/Cosmics like Gravitar or Clerance who have big knocks.
